Abyss Sequence-Chapter 477 - 52: Soul
The news of Alfheim's fall couldn't be kept secret, because the interest group centered around Yan Luo made a lot of money through Alfheim, and if Yan Luo didn't tell them that 'Alfheim has fallen', many people wouldn't rest.
Once Yan Luo disclosed this news to them, it meant that the whole world knew.
After all, with so many people, it's hard to keep a secret.
Thus, the news of Alfheim's fall stirred up a great uproar on the Blue Star internet.
If the news came from someone else, people might have doubted it, but since it was Yan Luo who brought it back, there were no doubts at all.
Everyone knew that Yan Luo was always straightforward and never worried about offending anyone with his words.
Most of the time, what Yan Luo said turned out to be true.
Because of this, people believed the news as soon as it broke out.
Many were discussing what kind of impact Alfheim's fall would have on Blue Star, and the Elven students studying on Blue Star along with Mayin City's residents were so shocked by the news that some Elves even fainted on the spot.
Some went so far as to rush to Yan Luo's villa to confirm the authenticity of the news from him.
After finding out the news was true, those Elves were devastated.
Although Yan Luo also mentioned that the Elves in Alfheim still had a chance, many people and Elves just saw the news of 'Alfheim's fall' and didn't pay attention to what Yan Luo said later.
It was only after the news spread that the Elves realized the decades-long schemes of the two Elven Saints and understood that their high moral standards were actually a result of these two Saints tirelessly modifying Elven civilization over the years.
Even after knowing these things, they didn't feel too angry.
The Saints were essentially the leaders of the Elves, and what they did was what normal rulers would do; it was just more extended and intense.
Elves living on Blue Star felt only sadness and pain, knowing that their families and compatriots were suffering in another world and there was nothing they could do.
Never before did the Elves hate their own weakness as they did now.
No matter how much they regretted it, it was useless; what's done is done, and now they should think about how to solve this problem and rescue the Elves in Alfheim.
But that might be a matter for much later.
As discussions were held all over, Yan Luo attended an online meeting.
The projections of high officials from the United Government and Advanced Hunters appeared in a brightly lit conference hall, and Yan Luo's projection was among them.
Committee members from various cities, presidents of major Hunter's Guilds, and Hunters above Sequence Two gathered together, seeking to understand the situation in Alfheim and the Evil God from Yan Luo.
Yan Luo was unsure whether the recordings he took with his monocle were infectious because, according to the two Saints, the Elves in Alfheim were the body of the Evil God. He saw them as Elves, but in others' eyes, they might be seeing the 'Evil God'.
Therefore, Yan Luo didn't release the recorded footage but instead orally conveyed all his perceptions at that time to everyone present.
"...The timing of the Evil God's appearance was abrupt and swift. I couldn't react before it controlled all the Elves in Alfheim. When I sensed it, the Evil God was already born."
Yan Luo tapped his head, "At that time, a voice appeared in my mind; it should be the voice of the Evil God 'Alfheim'. I can't accurately describe it; the best adjective would be 'indescribable'. After that, the two Saints controlled all the Elves in that city to inform me of several things. They admitted their mistakes, acknowledging the rational Evil God was just a delusion, not existing in this world.
"Unified thought would only allow the Evil God to take over the corresponding civilization the moment it was born. Only a complicated mix of different thinking styles would prevent the Evil God from controlling the tribe that nurtured its birth. If we also want to deal with the Evil Gods nurtured by Blue Star Civilization, we must discard a single thought, allowing the Blue Star People to have more complex thoughts. However, judging from humanity's current display, we don't need to worry about that."
Yan Luo did not disclose the above paragraph to the news media because he didn't know what kind of chaos would ensue if this news was leaked.
Perhaps an ambitious person might seize the opportunity, or an anti-humanity faction might make a move. In any case, it could greatly impact and even harm the current Blue Star.
After listening to Yan Luo's words, the other attendees began to whisper and discuss among themselves.
Yan Luo said nothing, crossing his arms and waiting for their discussion results.
"Sigh."
Yulia, standing beside Yan Luo, sighed and flicked the hair from her forehead, "What exactly is the Evil God, and why does it want to destroy the civilization that nurtured it as soon as it is born? Are they perhaps a form of weapon, where the real cosmic disaster isn't the Evil God, but what triggers the Evil God?"
Yan Luo was also pondering. Hearing Yulia's words, he thought for a while and then quietly said, "Ms. Bilukova, I have a guess."
Yulia looked at Yan Luo in surprise, "Let's hear it?"
Yan Luo said, "Is it possible that the Evil God is actually...?
"A soul."
Far away in the Celestial City, Roger Wilson, the last remaining leader of the Abyssal Believers, was eavesdropping on the United Government's internal meeting. After listening to Yan Luo's account, he arrived at a conclusion.
Propping his left elbow against the chair's armrest, supporting his cheek with his hand, Roger Wilson swirled the liquid in his glass, listening to the crisp sound of ice clinking against the glass wall, then suddenly tilted his head back to down the drink in one gulp.
"I see, the nature of the Evil God is finally clear."
The stoic face that always refrained from smiling finally broke into a distant smile, and Roger's eyes glowed with an excited light.
He turned his chair, got up, and walked to the huge floor-to-ceiling window.
Roger's location was at the highest point of Celestial City; the office was transparent on all sides. Standing by any of the floor-to-ceiling windows, he could overlook the bustling street scene of Celestial City.
It could be said, looking out from here, one could see every corner of this space city.
In the past, the leaders of the Abyssal Believers used to enjoy the sweetness of power there, feeling as if they were stepping on the entire city and land.
Even residing in a space city, they considered themselves the kings of Blue Star.
Fortunately, Roger had rid of these madmen who only caused trouble while hallucinating; they died without leaving a trace, even their ashes were poured into the Agricultural Building's cultivation troughs, absorbed by the thriving plants.
This system, designed by them to be used only against the lower-class people, making them feel as if they were truly in cannibalism yet not so disgusted, allowing them to feel like higher beings, now fell upon them. Roger only hoped they wouldn't have a field day cursing in Hell; it was better to suppress all anger within their hearts. That's what made him happy.
Roger had long been fed up with that bunch who dared to declare themselves a nobler race than others, had they asked his opinion?
If not for needing a black glove, Roger wouldn't have kept them alive, much less shared his blood with them.
Fortunately, they were all dead now, allowing Roger some peace for a while.
Lightly tapping the floor-to-ceiling window with his finger, letting the glass ripple with false waves, Roger looked at the city below, a slight smile gracing his lips.
This was the 'poison' he intentionally cultivated, concocted over decades, intended to deal with the Evil Gods' poison!
......
"Soul?" 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
Upon hearing this, Yulia was somewhat surprised, "Why do you say that?"
Yan Luo furrowed his brows, thinking carefully but eventually shook his head, "Instinct."
Though he called it instinct, his brain had already gathered information that could deduce the corresponding answer, he just hadn't realized it himself.
If others had said 'instinct', it might be questionable, but since it was Yan Luo saying 'instinct', Yulia felt there might actually be some truth to it.
"Soul, huh..." Yulia mulled over the word, lost in thought.
She looked up at the other attendees, a concept looming in her mind, but no matter how she tried, she couldn't find a way to describe it.
Hence, Yulia was a bit confused.
