Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 422 shooting unexpectedly
[Margaret’s Perspective]
’Boom! Boom!’
Two bullets skimmed past Donald’s lower back, and I saw him pause mid-swing, growling from his throat, but he didn’t stop his attack on Henry.
I glanced towards the source of the bullets and noticed Martha holding a gun, her gaze cold as she watched Donald’s figure. No doubt, she was the one who had fired those shots!
"Has no one ever taught Princess Lington that outsiders aren’t supposed to interfere when two Lycans are dueling? Shooting from behind someone’s back is truly a disgraceful act!" I said, lifting my gun towards Martha, my voice icy.
Martha, of course, heard my words. She sneered, continuing to pull the trigger while mocking, "If someone else had said that, I might have listened, but coming from you... doesn’t it sound ironic?"
Almost simultaneously, Martha fired another shot at Donald who was in the fray, and I also pulled my pistol’s trigger. The bullet tore through the air and hit her right hand that was holding the gun!
"Ah!" She grunted, dropping the gun to the ground and turned her head to glare furiously at me.
I barely breathed a sigh of relief, meeting her icy gaze with mine, my expression frosty, "What? Are you angry? I learned this from you, didn’t I? Aren’t you fond of such despicable and shameless acts?"
"You cheeky little wretch! I underestimated your cunning and skills. I’ve no idea what love potion you’ve given Henry to make him unwilling to give up on you! But don’t get too cocky, he’ll soon see through you, a treacherous little backstabber!"
Watching Martha’s enraged expression, I sarcastically curled my lips, "Forget the nonsense you just spouted! Do you think he’ll make it out of here alive today? Donald won’t give him another chance to flee and he himself..."
I paused, glancing briefly at the red figure in the arena, then continued, "...seems to have no intention of leaving, at least for this moment."
"It’s because of you, you little wretch, meddling over and over again! If it weren’t for you and that werewolf who suddenly appeared, ruining my submarine, we would have left this cursed place long ago! This is all your fault! I shouldn’t have agreed to Henry’s proposal to keep you around. I should have killed you the moment you set foot on the island!"
Martha spoke harshly, her eyes, much like Henry’s, turning blood-red!
In this moment, mother and son looked strikingly similar, hysterical and insane in the same manner.
A Medical Practitioner came up to her, swiftly bandaging her right hand’s through-and-through wound, whispering something anxiously to her. The person spoke too softly for me to guess their conversation, as I couldn’t read lips like Donald.
My brow furrowed slowly watching Martha’s expression gradually calm down, a bad premonition rising in me!
I turned to look at Elliot, who was fending off werewolf creatures, and said gravely, "Martha is probably planning to escape. We need to find a way to hold her back!"
Upon hearing this, Elliot let go of his current foe, glanced at me, and asked, "If the King has completely occupied Henry, and she still wants to run, does she not care about her son anymore?"
I didn’t answer Elliot’s question because I felt it was impossible to predict this mother and son’s thoughts using common sense. For Martha, abandoning a stubborn and obstinate son seemed to not be a difficult decision!
For people like them, it seemed that the only thing they truly couldn’t give up was themselves.
"Your Highness, what do you want to do? We’re too short on manpower right now to launch an effective attack, and she’s too far from us to charge!"
Seeing that I remained silent, Elliot spoke again.
I sighed softly, not disputing Elliot’s analysis of the battle, and somewhat helplessly said, "You’re right; we really can’t manage that much! Donald just mentioned that Charlie is just outside the cave. When can they come in to support us? You just rescued Anthony, right? How is his injury; can he still fight?"
"The heavy machinery troops led by Charlie are mainly responsible for killing the monster army outside the cave. Considering the time since the King led us here, the fight outside has been going on for nearly two hours. I guess Charlie might be on his way here! Anthony was injured in the leg, Benjamin has treated him urgently; he should be able to protect himself now, but it’s doubtful he can fight!"
I nodded slowly, indicating that I understood.
I looked up at Donald’s imposing figure in the arena, moved my hand on the gun, and added, "You take responsibility for covering Donald. Keep an eye on Martha and her group, don’t let them disrupt Donald again!"
"Yes, Your Highness!" Elliot replied, shifting back to human form, holding his gun and sneaking closer to the center of the arena.
