Chapter 383: 383 Attacked

[Henry’s Perspective]

Aiden was terrified and knelt on the ground, begging for my forgiveness.

I looked at him, feeling annoyed, and suddenly kicked the coffee table in front of me away, rubbing the throbbing pain at my brow as I said coldly, "Get out!"

Hearing this, Aiden hastily responded with several ’yeses’ before scurrying out.

I found myself missing Angel, who had great rapport with me. She was a smart and powerful Lycan. If only she hadn’t been so fond of Donald, acting impulsively and falling into the trap set by Donald and Margaret, the one sitting in Levi’s place wouldn’t be Levi!

Levi was not someone I could control absolutely. His stubbornness and madness sometimes even resembled mine. Martha said this might be something inherent in the Wolf royal family’s bloodline. I didn’t quite agree with this, as I and Donald were essentially different, and as for the Wolf royal family...

I felt even more disdainful inside. After all, it was nothing more than a despicable and hypocritical family, with no real claim to stand high and mighty!

I reached for the wine glass on the coffee table, took a small sip, and gathered my scattered thoughts. Margaret had been ’missing’ for nearly two days now, and Donald must be frantic. It was about time for me to formally negotiate with him.

As I thought this, a strange feeling suddenly surged within me!

Trading Margaret away to get what I’d always wanted... was that really what I wanted to do now?

This question took root deep within my heart, and I found myself hesitating for a moment! This was so unlike the usual me.

I threw back the rest of the wine in my glass, stood up, and walked out. The midnight on Poison Snake Island was not quiet. Beyond a wall, I heard the calls of birds and animals.

At first, I didn’t notice anything amiss, but as I put down my glass and stood by the window, a sense of crisis suddenly rose within me!

[Master Henry! The patrol team on the west side of the island has been attacked, and we are on our way to the scene with reinforcements. Do you want to come over and take command?]

It was the leader of the Guard Army, reporting this sudden situation to me through mind-link.

My expression turned cold, and a dangerous glint appeared in my eyes.

[I’ll be there right away, make sure to search thoroughly.] After giving this order, I turned and picked up the firearms on my desk, opened the door, and left briskly with my guards.

There were no ferries on the west side of Poison Snake Island to get ashore, so these sudden attackers must have crossed over by relying on their extraordinary physical strength and swimming skills!

After getting this information from the head of the Guard Team, my heart sank, and the night partially hid the fierce light in my eyes. "Does nobody know when they landed on the island? What is the Guard Team there for, just decoration?"

My two rhetorical questions received no answer, as the leader had already been frightened into a stunned silence by me.

Knowing I wouldn’t get any more useful information from him, I turned away from the cliff and walked straight to a residence halfway up the hill not far away.

Licia, with a cloak draped over her, walked out of the bedroom, clearly annoyed at being disrupted from her sleep.

She adjusted her cloak and looked at me with surprise in her eyes. "Henry? What brings you here so late? Is there an emergency?"

As Licia spoke, she glanced unconsciously at the clock in the corner, and after a moment, her expression changed as she continued, "Is it something with Margaret? Has she had an accident?"

I stared at Licia in front of me for several seconds before shaking my head and saying, "She’s fine, just hasn’t woken up yet."

Licia seemed to breathe a sigh of relief upon hearing this and walked over to the sofa area.

She gestured for me to sit as well and said softly, "That’s good to hear. But you wouldn’t come here so late for no reason, would you? Do you need my help?"

"Auntie, you seem very concerned about Margaret, huh?" I asked in return, not directly answering her, and took a seat opposite Licia.

I wasn’t in a hurry to search the house anymore; Licia’s reaction was obviously more interesting to me.

"Why do you suddenly ask that?" Licia seemed puzzled, looking at me and asking.

Her eyes were clear and honest as if she had no guard against me at all. I chuckled at that and explained, "Just curious why you’re so concerned about her, that’s all. No other reason."

Licia nodded, apparently believing my explanation. "It’s not concern, just a passing question. You wouldn’t have come this late just to have a heart-to-heart with me, would you? So, what’s going on?"

As she spoke, she gestured for a maid nearby, who stepped forward and poured water for both of us.

I looked at the water glass pushed towards me by Licia, replied with a smile, "Nothing major, just that the patrol team by the precipice has been killed, and since you’re close by, I thought I’d check on your safety. Did you hear anything strange earlier?"

I said this while glancing sideways at the few guards behind Licia, my lips carrying a smile, but my eyes filled with scrutiny and inquiry.

"What? You’re saying someone sneaked onto the island? Who could it be? Martha won’t be in any danger, will she? She hasn’t been with me since this afternoon."

Licia stood up in shock, saying this as she directed the maid to get the phone, seemingly about to call to ensure Martha’s safety at that moment.
