A Villain's POV-Chapter 13: Versus Mia
Chapter 13: Versus Mia
Raze took a short break and decided to try out the Phantom Blade, but he had lost track of time, and it was now time for classes, so the students started trooping in.
"Fuck!" he cursed and walked to the wall. He sat down on the ground and leaned his back against it. No one really paid any attention to him, but a certain group did, and that was Alex's group.
They had noticed his change in attitude over the days. He was now quiet and didn't even speak to them. Normally, he would be trying to get something started one way or another.
Or maybe this was another of his plans, and he was baiting them.
Raze looked up and saw Alex looking right at him, standing about twenty feet away. Raze stared back for five seconds and then looked back down.
Alex frowned when he saw that. He couldn't wrap his head around what was happening; it didn't make any sense to him.
The instructor finally came in. He was a middle-aged man with long, flowing hair, wearing the teacher's type of uniform. Raze knew this particular teacher because he had a lot of impact on the story. His name was Peter.
Immediately after he got in, all hundred or so students got up and gathered around to listen to what he had to say.
"Good day, class. Before we get into sparring, there is an announcement. Our academy has been chosen to host the annual Elite Battles for the kingdom.
The king of Tera and his family will be watching this year. The competition is set to start in a month's time, so we have little time.
It will not be like the former competitions that you must have heard of. It will be vastly different, with many new rules. One key rule that will be in place is that death inside the competition will not be considered murder unless concrete proof exists."
When the students heard that, they burst into noise, talking about the news.
"Enough, I'm still talking," Peter said.
"Measures will be set in place to ensure that there are little to no deaths. But in the past, many people have been framed in the Elite Competition and punished wrongly. This year, we want to ensure that we remove that.
Now, we already know that not everyone will be participating in the competition, so we will be hosting a preliminary competition midweek—that's in two days.
Only ten people from the first year will be joining the main competition, so do your best to snag a spot. That will be all for now. More information will be relayed to you at a later date," he finished.
"Alright, today was supposed to be a normal sparring day for everyone, but I've decided to spend the next two hours carrying out small duels. You need every opportunity to get ready.

I have a list of all of you, and I'll pick two people to fight at the center square with sixty-second time frames.
The first people to go will be Jason and Robert." Peter called out. Everyone immediately moved to the side and created space at the center square. Both boys came out and took the center stage.
One decided to go to the rack to pick out a wooden sword. He returned to the center and held up the sword, ready to go, while his opponent stood with bare hands.
Peter walked to the center as well. He looked at both parties, and when he was sure they were ready, he gave the signal to start by swinging his hand down and calling it.
"Start!"
Immediately, the boy with the sword charged forward at top speed. He opened his mouth and started casting a spell. Wind twirled around his blade as he moved.
The second guy made a hand sign, and flames covered his palm. He charged in as well. When he got within proximity of his opponent, he leaped into the air and punched downward.
The boy with the sword moved his blade into the path of the fist. The wind around his sword acted in two ways: it created a shield around the sword to prevent it from breaking or burning, and it also propelled his sword, enabling it to go faster.
The sword and the flaming fist collided, and both parties were pushed back, but the boy with the sword recovered faster and charged in again. He quickly started casting another spell, and wind gathered under his feet, pushing him to run faster.
His opponent struggled to get his balance and threw a punch at the incoming enemy, but his enemy made a sudden maneuver and dodged the lunge while still moving forward. Then, he placed the tip of his sword on his opponent's neck, meaning he had won.
The boy with the sword pulled back and bowed to his opponent before walking away, and so did his opponent, but the latter had anger written all over his face.
"The next two will be Mia Williams versus Raze."
When Raze heard his name and that of his opponent, he felt a sudden happiness sprout in his chest. He would get to fight Mia—the one who had left him, the friend who had deserted him.
With a smile, he walked toward the rack and pulled out a sword. Raze in the story had basic training in swordplay, but nothing special. However, Raze now had the Phantom Blade, and that allowed him to gain some well-needed knowledge of swordplay.
The technique was not just an instant technique; it also gave him information on swordplay and more to match the technique.
He got the sword and walked to the center, where Mia was already waiting, also holding a sword in her hands. She was a noble, so she was well trained in swordplay.
"You barely ever used a sword before," Mia said.
But Raze said nothing, he just smiled and took his stance, ready to go.
