A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality: Immortal Realm-Chapter 1315: An Act of Kindness
Chapter 1315: An Act of Kindness
A waiter made his way onto the scene and said, "Please restrain yourselves and take a seat, esteemed customer. Our restaurant is a proper establishment, so please be civilized."
Another hoodlum immediately jumped up and grabbed the waiter by the collar as he yelled, "Who the hell do you think you are? We're paying customers, are we not? What gives you the right to tell us what to do?"
The waiter was completely unfazed as he said, "You are indeed paying customers, but it'll be bad for our business if you cause trouble and scare away all of our customers. I don't recall seeing you around these parts, so you must be foreigners, right? The owner of our restaurant is the esteemed Official Jin, and he's not someone you want to mess with around these parts."
The group of hoodlums collectively turned to the young man in opulent attire.
"Official Jin? You're talking about that bastard, Jin Fugui, right? He's nothing more than a mere administrator of our Golden Dragon Faction, yet you speak of him like he's some kind of god!" the young man sneered while maintaining a firm grip on the young maiden.
"You're from the Golden Dragon Faction?" the waiter asked as a hint of panic surfaced in his eyes.
The hoodlum that was holding onto the waiter's collar pushed him to the ground as he yelled, "You're looking at the only son of the faction leader, you blind dog!"
The waiter had completely lost his composure, and he was trembling incessantly as he sat on the ground with a fearful expression.
The young man turned his gaze back to the young maiden, and in his drunken state, he was barely able to suppress his lust.
He had seen many women before, but such a shy and pure beauty was certainly a rare sight.

"Everyone else, get out of here before I make you!" the young man yelled, and all of the remaining customers immediately fled the restaurant in a hurry.
Before long, Han Li and Violet Spirit were the only two left.
"Piss off!" one of the hoodlums yelled.
Violet Spirit had disguised herself as an average-looking woman, so she hadn't attracted the attention of the hoodlums.
A cold look appeared in Han Li's eyes. Listening to the storyteller had triggered some distant memories of his, and he was just beginning to derive some inspiration from that, only for these scoundrels to spoil everything.
"What a bunch of eyesores," he harrumphed coldly as he flicked the chopstick container on the table with his finger, and the container shuddered ever so slightly before falling still again.
All of a sudden, blood came spraying out of the hands of all of the hoodlums, and their wrists had all been pierced through by chopsticks.
They immediately began screaming in agony, and the young man in the lavish robe involuntarily released the young maiden from the excruciating pain.
The young maiden was dazed for a moment, then hurriedly rushed over to the elderly storyteller's side before helping him to his feet.
"Let's go," Han Li said as he stood up and placed a small silver ingot onto the table, then began to make his way downstairs, followed by Violet Spirit.
The storyteller and her granddaughter also hurriedly rushed downstairs for fear or retaliation from the hoodlums, who were in too much pain to stop them.
Han Li and Violet Spirit had only just emerged from the restaurant when they heard the storyteller call out after them.
"Please wait a moment."
Han Li stopped in his tracks, and the storyteller immediately fell to his knees as he said, "Thank you for helping us. If Xiao Cui had fallen into the hands of those people, then she would've surely died!"
The young maiden also fell to her knees before kowtowing to Han Li in gratitude.
All of a sudden, a peculiar look flashed through Han Li's eyes at the sight of the duo.
"Brother Han?" Violet Spirit called out in a gentle voice.
Han Li immediately snapped out of his reverie, then swept a sleeve through the air, releasing a burst of invisible force that helped the two back to their feet as he said, "There's no need to thank me, I didn't really do much."
A hint of awe and veneration appeared in the duo's eyes as they gazed upon Han Li.
"It sounded like those people have some powerful backers behind them, so I suggest you leave this place as quickly as you can. I've saved you once, but I can't always be around to save you," Han Li said.
"Those people are from the Golden Dragon Faction, which has a stranglehold on the entirety of Tiezhou. If they want to exact vengeance on us, there's nowhere safe for us to run," the storyteller said with a look of despair on his face.
"Your dialect is a little different from the residents of Jade Mountain City, so you must be from elsewhere, right? Where is your home?" Han Li asked.
"My grandfather and I are from Qingzhou, and we fled here to escape the famine in our hometown," the young maiden replied.
"Qingzhou? That's the place where two large rivers meet, right?" Han Li asked as he raised an eyebrow.
The young maiden faltered slightly upon hearing this, then nodded as she replied, "That's right."
"Where in Qingzhou is your hometown? And tell me about the environment near your home as well," Han Li said.
The young maiden and the elderly storyteller exchanged a hesitant glance with one another, then divulged the information requested by Han Li.
"I see, so that thatch hut next to that large willow tree is your home," Han Li chuckled.
Both the young maiden and her grandfather were stunned to hear this. They hadn't made any mention of that willow tree, so they had no idea how Han Li was aware of its existence.
"Come, I'll take you two back home," Han Li said with a sweep of his sleeve, releasing a burst of golden light that enveloped the duo.
The two of them instantly felt as light as a pair of feathers as they rose up into the air, and in the next instant, they returned to solid ground as the golden light around them faded away.
However, as opposed to Jade Mountain City, they found themselves in a lakeside village, while Han Li and Violet Spirit were nowhere to be seen.
Directly ahead of the two of them were three thatch huts with a lush willow tree growing nearby.
"This is our home..."
The young maiden and her grandfather were completely flabbergasted by what they were witnessing.
"It looks like the famine in your hometown has already passed. Here's some silver, you can live here in peace from now on."
Han Li's voice rang out from overhead, following which a silver ingot fell out of the sky and into the elderly man's grasp.
"Thank you, esteemed immortal! We'll be sure to set up a plaque for you and worship it day and night!" the elderly storyteller hurriedly said as he fell to his knees and kowtowed toward the approximate direction that Han Li's voice had come from, while his granddaughter immediately followed suit.
Meanwhile, Han Li and Violet Spirit were standing together high up in the sky.
"I didn't think you'd go so far for their sake, Brother Han," Violet Spirit said with a faint smile.
However, Han Li offered no response. Instead, he seemed to have been sensing something with his eyes closed and a hint of elation on his face.
"What's gotten you in such a good mood, Brother Han?" Violet Spirit asked with an intrigued expression.
"I seem to have found a catalyst for severing my corpse soul," Han Li replied as he opened his eyes with a pleased smile.
"Really? What is it?" Violet Spirit exclaimed in an ecstatic manner.
Han Li offered no reply, merely pointing a finger down at the two people below.
"Are you saying that helping others is helping you sense your kind corpse soul?" Violet Spirit asked.
Han Li nodded in response.
After saving those two from those Golden Dragon Faction troublemakers, he had felt some intangible thing wrap around him as the duo was expressing their gratitude to him, and he could intuitively sense that this was a step in the right direction as far as his kind corpse soul severance was concerned.
As for bringing the duo back to their hometown, Han Li had done this as an experiment, and sure enough, as the two of them expressed their gratitude again, another burst of the same intangible force had descended upon him, but for some reason, it was far lesser than the first one.
"I suppose that makes sense. After all, helping others is certainly an act of kindness. You told me that you're unable to sense your kind corpse soul due to your lack of understanding of the true meaning of kindness, so perhaps you can glean this true meaning by helping others," Violet Spirit analyzed.
"That's precisely what I'm thinking. Now that I've found a way forward, I should finally be able to make some progress toward my kind corpse soul severance," Han Li said with a faint smile, then released his tremendous spiritual sense in all directions.
Having mastered the sixth level of the Spirit Refinement Technique, his spiritual sensory range had swelled to such an extent that he was able to see close to half of the entire Soaring Wings Immortal Region at once.
On top of that, his spiritual sense had also become far more exhaustive than before, allowing him to see precisely what everyone in his spiritual sensory range was doing, and it didn't take long before he locked onto his next target.
All of a sudden, the two of them vanished from the spot amid a flash of golden lightning.
......
On a certain mountain path, a convoy of carts that were carrying valuable goods had been intercepted by a group of masked bandits, and a fierce battle was taking place.
The bandits severely outnumbered the guards of the convoy, and they had sprung a perfect ambush, so it didn't take long before the number of guards was whittled down to the final three.
Before long, two more fell, and all that remained was an imposing elderly man.
A grief-stricken look flashed through his eyes, but he continued to swing his large saber with all his might, keeping the surrounding bandits at bay.
"All of your comrades are dead, Xiang Zong. If you kneel and kowtow to us now, perhaps we'll spare you your life," the leader of the bandits chortled.
The elderly man's left arm was already bloody and injured, but he remained as resilient as ever as he roared, "Cut the chit-chat, Liu Sandao! I won't ever bow my head to bandits like you!"
"Your resolve is as impressive as ever, Xiang Zong, but that's not going to do you any good when you're dead! Seeing as you're clearly so intent on passing on to the afterlife, I'll give you a helping hand!" Liu Sandao sneered as he raised a hand, and several of the bandits standing beside him stepped forward before each pulling out a giant crossbow that was around three feet in length.
Each crossbow cartridge contained close to twenty arrows, and they were fired in rapid succession to send over a hundred arrows raining down upon Xiang Zong at once.
