A Night of Desire-Chapter 96: Used as a Gun
Perhaps they hadn’t expected Clara Grant to so calmly say something so irrelevant and bizarre. They all stared blankly for a moment; even Chloe Grant, who had been feigning composure, looked slightly taken aback.
But after a moment of confusion, they realized what she meant—Clara Grant was indirectly mocking them for ganging up on her.
But so what if they were? They *were* ganging up on her. What of it?
One of the other students couldn’t help but snicker at her words.
Cecilia Lee grew flustered and angry. She shot a glare at the student who had laughed before turning her attention back to Clara Grant.
"Clara Grant, what do you mean by that?"
"I mean, the AC in here is on full blast. If you all are feeling cold, you can huddle together for warmth. Not only will it keep you warm, but it’ll also make you look so much more united."
Clara Grant’s expression barely shifted as she replied nonchalantly, but the slight upturn of her lips betrayed a hint of sarcasm.
"Clara Grant, stop trying to twist things and change the subject! We’re talking about you bumping into Juno Croft. Look how hard you hit her, yet you haven’t even apologized. Do you think you can be this arrogant just because some rich guy is keeping you?"
"That’s right, Clara Grant," Juno Croft chimed in, rubbing her arm after catching a look from Chloe Grant.
"No matter how you look at it, you’re the one who knocked me over. You should at least say you’re sorry, right? You don’t normally seem like such an ill-mannered person. I never thought that just by latching onto some rich man, you’d start using his power to bully others."
After she finished, she lowered her voice slightly, but still loud enough for the students nearby to hear her clearly.
"Then again, considering the force you hit me with, and this attitude of yours... it really seems like you knocked me over on purpose."
With everyone accusing her of having a sugar daddy and being a kept woman, Clara Grant suppressed her anger, but her eyes couldn’t help but narrow slightly.
A boy standing nearby, apparently unable to listen any longer, spoke up in Clara Grant’s defense. "Clara Grant wouldn’t have bumped into you on purpose, would she? The two of you don’t have any issues, and besides, we’re all classmates. We know what kind of person she is. She’s not like that."
Clara Grant turned and glanced at the boy, grateful that he had spoken up for her.
"Just because she wasn’t like that before doesn’t mean she isn’t now. And you know she’s being kept by some man. Now that she has a backer, she’s not the same person she used to be."
Melanie Lowell snapped back at the boy.
Clara Grant’s gaze swept over Melanie Lowell and the others, then over Juno Croft, before finally landing on Chloe Grant’s face and locking onto her eyes.
Chloe Grant didn’t flinch, meeting her gaze head-on. From an angle the other students couldn’t see, she even raised an eyebrow at Clara Grant, her lips curling into a contemptuous and smug smile.
Clara Grant knew perfectly well that Chloe was behind all of this.
Scoffing inwardly, Clara Grant spoke, her voice hard and cold. ’Since they’re deliberately looking for a fight, there’s no reason for me to be polite!’
"If I had actually been the one to bump into someone, I would apologize. But if someone deliberately ran into *me* and then tried to frame me for it, then I don’t think I’m the one who should be apologizing, am I?
"And another thing. You all keep insisting I have a sugar daddy, that I’m some rich man’s kept woman. Did you see it with your own eyes? Do you have any proof? If you don’t have proof, then I suggest you stop making things up. Slander is a serious crime.
"Some people just love to stir up trouble out of thin air, casually slandering and framing others! You all had better be careful not to just parrot what you hear. You might fall into someone else’s trap and end up being used as their pawn!"
