A Night of Desire-Chapter 58: He Actually Defended Her
But Clara Grant still felt a little panicked. After all, she really had been "intimate" with Seth Quinn.
Whether it was that night at the hotel or the kiss just now at the school gate.
Even if there was no longer any possibility between her and Miles Quinn, she didn’t want him to know about this. ’After all, who would want the boy they like to find out they’re ambiguously involved with another man?’
Besides, Chloe Grant had just deliberately emphasized the luxury car and the man. ’Wasn’t that just a blatant way of saying I was selling my body or being kept by some man?’
Because whenever a luxury car came to The Nymphaea to pick up a female student, there were generally only two possible interpretations, and no third.
Clearly, Chloe Grant was trying to slander her, and Clara couldn’t let her succeed.
Clara Grant composed herself and gave a faint smile. "You must have seen wrong. I rode my motorcycle to school. How could I have gotten out of someone’s car?"
"That’s right, Chloe Grant. You must have been mistaken. I clearly saw Clara ride her motorcycle onto campus with my own two eyes."
Before Chloe Grant could respond, Miles Quinn, who had been standing by silently, chimed in to support Clara Grant.
Of course, he hadn’t actually seen anything, but he said it deliberately. In part, this was because he felt Chloe Grant had gone too far, slandering someone so casually without a shred of proof.
He and Clara Grant weren’t particularly close. Their only connection came from a chance encounter three years ago, when something he said had inspired Clara to enroll at The Nymphaea.
But in the three years since, they hadn’t interacted much. They were merely an upperclassman and an underclassman. When they met, they would exchange greetings at most. If they had enough time, they might make small talk for a minute, but if they were in a rush, they would just nod, smile, and pass each other by.
The reason he called her the familiar "Clara" was because most of her classmates and friends did, and he also thought it sounded nice. That was all there was to it.
Still, he believed that Clara Grant wasn’t the kind of girl who would sell her body and soul for wealth and vanity.
As for the other, much larger reason he insisted he’d seen Clara ride onto campus, it was because he disliked Chloe Grant. He disliked her constant pestering, and he especially hated that his father was using him as a pawn to repay a debt of gratitude by forcing him to marry Chloe.
Hearing his words, Chloe Grant was filled with an uncontainable jealousy. ’He calls me by my full name, Chloe Grant, yet he calls her so intimately—Clara!’ 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
’Not only that, he’s actually defending Clara Grant right to my face!’
For a moment, Chloe Grant seethed, "Is that so? Then who was it I saw just now? Could I really have been mistaken? Ivy Vance, get out..."
She turned, intending to have Ivy Vance pull out her phone, which had the photos. ’With this hard evidence right in front of them, let’s see how Clara Grant tries to explain herself! And let’s see if Miles still defends her then!’
’Maybe Miles will think Clara Grant is just pretending to be pure and innocent, and he’ll be disgusted with her from now on.’
However, just after calling out Ivy Vance’s name, she abruptly stopped.
’Showing the evidence now would certainly expose Clara Grant, but it would also be a public humiliation for Miles Quinn.’
’And what’s more, Miles might think I’m a schemer.’
’At that point, even if Miles came to despise and avoid Clara Grant, my own image in his eyes would be completely ruined.’
’No, I can’t bring out those photos right now.’
With this thought, Chloe Grant changed her tune. "Ivy Vance, you saw it earlier too, didn’t you?"
