A Night of Desire-Chapter 120: Gained an Advantage and Still Playing Coy
Faye Jennings was perceptive and naturally understood the hidden meaning in his words. Smiling at Clara Grant, she adopted the friendly demeanor of a senior actress and said, "Since we’ll be on the same film set from now on, let’s not be such strangers. I’ll just call you Clara."
Faye Jennings was an actress Clara Grant greatly admired, and seeing how approachable she was now, Clara felt a little touched. She immediately replied, "Then I’ll call you Faye. Faye, I’m new here, and this is my first time acting. I hope you’ll look after me."
Seth Quinn almost choked. ’Her own husband is the top boss! Even without publicizing her status as the president’s wife, I can take care of her down to the smallest detail behind the scenes.’
’And yet, she’s overlooking the obvious and asking someone else for help?’
’Do I mean that little to her? How can she always overlook me so easily?’
Clara Grant, of course, had no idea of the indignation brewing in Seth Quinn’s heart. Perhaps because she had broken the ice with Faye Jennings, she wasn’t so reserved anymore.
She glanced at the many untouched dishes on the table and said to Faye Jennings, "Faye, these dishes were just served, and we haven’t touched them. It’s a waste to have ordered so much and not be able to finish it. Why don’t you see if there’s anything you’d like?"
Faye Jennings maintained a faint, polite smile, but inwardly, she sneered. ’This Clara Grant... I wonder if she’s genuinely that simple and naive, or if she’s doing this on purpose.’
’I’m Faye Jennings, an A-list star in the entertainment industry. Am I really expected to eat the leftovers of some rookie who just debuted?’
’She must be doing it on purpose, thinking she can mock me just because she’s Seth Quinn’s girlfriend.’
’Girlfriend? Hmph. Who even knows what she is? When Seth Quinn introduced her, he said "friend," not "girlfriend." Looks like he has no intention of publicly acknowledging her status.’
’Maybe Seth Quinn is just toying with her. After all, a girl like Clara Grant—with no family background and nothing particularly special about her—is completely unworthy of his prominent and noble status.’
’What does she have to be so smug about?!’
Meanwhile, Clara Grant was still talking. "Seth Quinn ordered all of this. He ordered so much but he’s barely eating, making me eat it all by myself. How am I supposed to finish all this?"
Clara Grant was just complaining about Seth Quinn ordering so much and being wasteful, but somehow, her tone had an unintentionally coquettish, pouting quality to it.
Therefore, to Faye Jennings, her words sounded like she was showing off—showing off how well Seth Quinn treated her.
Seth Quinn, however, turned to look at the woman with her slightly pouting lips and scrunched-up face. A smile touched his lips, and his eyes crinkled with amusement as he said, "You’ve got it good and you’re still playing coy."
Hearing this, Clara instinctively turned her head to glare at him, but with Faye Jennings there, she refrained from bickering back.
Faye Jennings forced a smile as she watched their interaction. She had been about to say, "No, thank you, I’ll order separately," but after hearing Clara’s words, she changed her mind.
’Seth Quinn ordered all of this for Clara Grant,’ she thought. ’If I eat some of these dishes, couldn’t I also say that he ordered them for *me*?’
"Well, in that case, alright. I’ll take you up on that." Faye Jennings said with a joking smile. She helped herself to a plate of seafood pasta and a bowl of Italian soup, then thanked Clara Grant, "Thank you, Clara."
"You’re welcome, you’re welcome."
Clara Grant waved her hands dismissively. ’It makes no difference,’ she thought. ’Treating just Seth is the same as treating them both.’
Seth Quinn shot her a sideways glance, tapped the table lightly with his uninjured hand, and cut their chitchat short. "Where’s that steak you cut for me?"
"Oh! Right," Clara replied, sliding the plate in front of her—the steak all cut into small bite-sized pieces—over to him.
’His hand is injured,’ she thought, ’so while he might not be able to cut the steak, he should still be able to eat it himself, right? Besides, with Faye Jennings watching, how could I possibly have the nerve to feed him? He wouldn’t be shameless enough to expect me to, would he?’
But to her surprise, the moment she set it down, Seth Quinn pushed it right back to her.
