A New Life In The Beast World-Chapter 134: Need To Go Over Some Safety First
"Reminder that you have twenty-four hours left to accept or decline a mission." Liz stated the moment Serena entered her subspace that evening.
Serena pressed her lips together at those words, knowing she had been delaying her answer for long enough now. She had already made her decision and yet she was lingering on saying what it was out loud.
Because then it would feel all too real.
"Accept it." Serena answered with a sigh, figuring it was probably best to just pull the bandaid off.
She could use the cold season to mentally prepare herself for the task ahead and perhaps figure out a way to explain the priest thing to Theo. Because he was no doubt going to be confused when she suddenly accepted one as a mate.
"Are you sure?" Liz asked as it jumped down from its spot on top of one of her baskets. "This is your last chance-"
"I’m confirming that I accept the mission." Serena stated. She then muttered under her breath, "It’s not like I can say no."
Because she needed to go back and get her revenge. Even if it was petty or stupid. Otherwise, what was the point in struggling to live in this world?
I know Liz said I should live in atonement... Serena thought to herself. But I don’t know how... Or if it’ll even help.
"Mission accepted. The priest has been notified of your decision." Liz said, bringing Serena out of her thoughts.
Its words made Serena frown and she asked, "What do you mean notified? Does he know about you?"
"Nope. But the Beast God did send him a message that you had accepted this divine duty-" Liz responded.
"There’s nothing divine about this mission." Serena grumbled.
But Liz ignored her and continued, "...is on his way to this village. By my estimates he should probably be here around the rainy season. Just in time for your estrus cycle. Guess you won’t need to wait much to get that mission going... Of course, you might not get pregnant. That pill would’ve made things easier though."
"That’s great to know." Serena commented scarscitally.
"I know right." Liz said with a knowing look. It was quiet for a moment before it asked, "By the way, do you need me to explain the estrus cycle to you? I see you humans have a menstrual cycle every.... Beast God above! Every blue moon?! How do you live?!"
"We can continue as normal because we have products to help with it. Birth control exists too." Serena pointed out. "And no, you don’t need to explain that stuff to me."
She already had the jist of it thanks to the book and the original owner’s memories. Of course, an estrus cycle and menstrual cycle were both slightly different, but she understood how they both worked nonetheless.
"Woah... I can’t believe some of this stuff..." Liz said with glazed eyes. "No wonder there’s so many humans..."
"What are you doing?" Serena questioned the system.
"Accessing the... what’s it called again... oh right internet." Liz answered, blinking rapidly for a second. "The system is linked up to it so you can easily access information from your world... But this is the first time I’m really using it."
Serena pursed her lips. "When did this happen?"
"When you had the update. Of course, you can’t access the internet... This is a system only feature to add onto your book knowledge." Liz answered, eyes going glazed again. "Because the Beast God was too lazy to condense all your world’s knowledge into books for you to use."
Serena was a little annoyed by that, but at least now she knew she wasn’t limited to what was in the books. Granted she still needed to purchase the books. But if she didn’t understand something in them, now she knew she could just have Liz look into it.
"There’s a lot of stuff on pregnancy in here too." Liz mused, eyes still glazed. "Ooh I should make notes on these... Is there a way to save this all..."
"You bookmark the site." Serena answered, wondering what in the world was going on. "There should be a star or something to cli-"
"Wait, what’s this mpreg?" Liz suddenly asked, making Serena go stiff.
How the hell did it come across that word?! What the hell was it searching right now?!
"Liz, I don’t think-" Serena started.
Only to watch Liz’s eyes widened in horror as it gasped. "OH MY?! What... NO! That can’t be... How?"
"I think we’re going to need to have a crash course on internet safety before you keep using this feature." Serena sighed. "Before you do or see something you shouldn’t..."
Liz shook its head. "I think that’s a good idea... Though I have a question first."
"What is it?"
"Can males in your world really get pregnant too?"
Yeah they were definitely going to need to have a crash course in internet safety.

"Understood Beast God. I shall head to the Rabbit Village as soon as I can." A beastman murmured as he turned his head to gaze out of his room window.
He wasn’t able to see what lay outside, however, he enjoyed the warmth of the sun on his cold, bronze skin. He could lay under it all day if possible.
But right now, he had a mission to complete. One given to him by the great Beast God.
With a small sigh, the beastman straightened up from his seat by the window, sad to leave the comfort of the sun. However, he had some things to do. He had to prepare for his journey to the Rabbit Village.
As he moved his long, wool robes shifted around his body and copper jewelry clinked every time they hit against each other. He carefully headed to his door, tongue flickering out now and again to sense where he was going. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Not that he really needed to do that.
He knew the whole layout of the Beast God temple by heart having lived here his whole life. He didn’t need sight to know where he was going, However, some of the cubs raised in the temple were mischievous and liked to move things around.
Neither was he in the mood to trip over some book or step on a disregarded wooden toy.
After walking through the beaded curtains that covered his doorway, the beastman turned right and headed down a long hallway. It was silent until he heard fast footsteps approaching him.
Not bothering to turn his head, the beastman murmured softly, "Where are you rushing off too Daniel?"
"I came to see where you were heading." Daniel responded, quickly falling into step behind the beastman. "Do you need something, Priest Cecile?"
"I’m just off to meet with the High Priest." Priest Cecile answered with a small smile. "It seems I’ve been given my destination."
A few days ago, he had received a divine message from the Beast God along with a mission. He was told to think carefully over it, but Cecile was more than happy to complete a mission given by the Beast God.
After all, it was the highest honor he could receive as a priest.
"I see..." Daniel murmured, fidgeting with sides of his robes. "Are you going to be leaving soon?"
"Yes." Priest Cecile answered. "I need to head to the Southern region..."
The two came to a stop in front of a large wooden door and Daniel moved to knock on the door. They heard a gruff ’come in’ a moment later.
Daniel opened the door before he stepped to the side to allow Cecile to enter inside first. The beastman gave a small nod of thanks to the young beastman before stepping inside the dark room.
"Priest Cecile and..." An elderly beastman sitting in the center of the room mused, pausing at the sight of Daniel.
"One of my students, Daniel." Priest Cecile stated, knowing the High Priest.
The elderly beastman only regarded those that had passed ritual to priesthood as worthy of his time. It seemed heartless to Cecile, but he had long given up questioning the High Priest.
The elderly beastman would not budge.
"Hmmm..." The High Priest pursed his lips, turning back to Daniel. "And what brings you here today?"
"I’ve received news from the Beast God on where to go for my mission." Priest Cecile responded. "I’ll be leaving in two days for the Southern Region."
"Are you taking any of your students?" The High Priest asked. "And will we need to alert the other temples? The Forest City and Mer City are in that region if I remember correctly."
"I’ll take Daniel if he wishes to come with me... And perhaps alert the Forest City." Priest Cecile mused. "But I’ll only stop there for a bit. Ask them to keep quiet about it please."
"Alright so be it." The High Priest sighed. "Good luck... And may the Beast God keep you in his embrace."
"And may he bless you." Priest Cecile responded out of habit.
He then bowed along with Daniel and the two left the dark room, heading back to Priest Cecile’s room. They were quiet for some time before Priest Cecile finally asked,
"So, Daniel... Would you like to join me on my journey?"
