A Luna for Alpha Kieran-Chapter 127: Little wolf, excellent choice
Chapter 127: Little wolf, excellent choice
[ Going back to the previous day : The Forgotten lands ( right after the fiasco at the auction hall) ]
Autumn didn’t wait for the boat to fully dock.
The moment the hull scraped against the shore, she was already leaping out.
The boat slammed against the riverbank, rocking under the force of Autumn’s movement.
She leapt off it with a splash. The icy water soaked her waist down, but she didn’t care...not even a flicker of hesitation because inside her chest it was burning...burning hot. No cold could possibly counter that!
Her boots sank briefly into the muddy edges of the Skarthheim border, but she yanked them free and surged ahead.
"Pup! Wait...!" The red head,Oric, if she remembered his name correctly...was already scrambling after her, splashing through the water as he tried to keep up.
The others followed behind him, half running, half tripping, trying to cross the slick terrain without looking like fools. Their weapons rattled on their backs but they were of no use against their new found challenge. In their desperation some nearly slipped on the rocks.
But Autumn didn’t slow down nor did she look back...until she crossed the cave like wall and her feet touched Skarthheim soil. Then she stopped and suddenly whirled around. "You are all dismissed!" she barked.
Her voice cracked like a whip across their stunned faces. The warriors blinked at her and then at each other.Utterly flabbergasted.
"But...but ,Princess.."
"I SAID DISMISSED!" Her voice boomed louder this time, her fists clenched so tightly her knuckles went white.
They exchanged glances all over again. A few opened their mouths to speak but then...
Bones snapped!!!
The hide cloak and the brand new tunic shredded like they were paper.
Chestnut fur ripped through her flesh.
A roar tore through the silence as Autumn shifted in an explosion of fury erupting from where she had once stood.
Her wolf snarled at everyone... Clearly a feral warning.
The sound reverberated across the wretched land and made the hairs on everyone’s neck stand up.
"I am going for a run," her voice boomed ( her wolf’s actually!) "Don’t any one of you DARE follow me.I won’t hesitate to make a cup out of your skull if you do! "
Then she was off...like a bullet shot from a gun.
The earth trembled beneath her thundering paws.
"Damn," one of the warriors muttered, his jaw slack behind her. "Did you see her eyes?"
Another breathed. Almost shaking. "They were glowing.Like fire. She’s got her father’s temper alright."
"Yeah, but damn... that wolf form..." A pause. "She’s a beautiful little thing...isn’t she..."
Admiration, awe and fear... dripping in her wake...
Her admirers gazed at the horizon where she had vanished like a comet...where her growls still echoed in the trees.
But Autumn didn’t hear them.
Nor did she care.
Her ears were full of wind and voices playing in her head. Her paws pounded the odd looking forest floor. But she wasn’t looking around.
The Skarthheim woods just blurred past her as she ran like an arrow loosened from the bow...chasing something...yet aimlessly.Just pushing forth.
Branches whipped past, bark tore at her fur, and thorns scraped her flanks, but she didn’t stop.
She remembered how he held the fucking cunt who had actually tried to get her raped...He had his arms wrapped around her, just like he once did with her. He was bloody protecting her with his own fucking life... Like she was a precious little thing! In his arms?? Were she belonged...
What the fuck?! WERE THEY FUCKING ALIKE?!
Her wolf snarled louder. Leaves scattered behind her in gusts.
"So that’s it, huh? That’s all I was. Just another name. Another girl in the dark that he fucked and tamed???Another warm body in his fucking bed, huh?"
Her wolf looked up at the moonless starlit sky, "KIERAN BLACKMOON! WAS THAT ALL? "
She jumped over a fallen log, her claws digging into the bark as she landed hard on the other side. Her breath came in ragged pants. But still, she ran.Faster.Harder.
She couldn’t stop!
"Why does it feel like I was the fool for hoping?Fuck, this!!!" Her wolf snarled. "You stupid girl! You let your heart believe he was different. That he saw you with difference. That he... FUCK! FUCK THIS FUCKING MATE BOND! " She looked up at the sky as if looking straight at the Moon, at the mirthless Goddess and yelled louder. "FUCK YOU!! "
She turned back around and roared again, this time louder, a guttural, angry cry that shook the canopy above her.
Birds exploded out of trees.
Small animals scurried away in terror.
Her paws finally skidded to a stop at the edge of a high ridge. The wind whipped through her fur as she stood there, trembling...not from fear, but from rage that had nowhere to go.
Her chest heaved. Her teeth bared. Her eyes stung.
"He had actually come for her. Not for me.How the hell was he supposed to know that I was here? Ah!! You foolish girl! There you go again! Did he even try to look for you that hard, huh? He did for that filthy woman! And found her... tried to save her... fought for her... but you?? "
She shook her head violently from side to side. She could feel her babies stirring. She hadn’t actually thought about them when she shifted. The first shift after conceiving is never easy. It requires luck. Just like a wolf’s very first shift in life.
But luckily it worked well for her. Her babies adapted well in her feral body and adjusted just fine. But they could sense their mother’s stress.
" Hush little babies! Don’t you worry. If I was ever meant to be broken, it won’t be in this lifetime. I am just... shaking it all off... I fucking need to get out of this fucking mate bond. It’s messing with my mind and thoughts!! I am so sorry little ones. I can’t do it for your sake... I am so sorry you are going through all this because of me... "
She threw back her head and howled again...not for help. Not for pain.
But for the fire building inside her.A war cry.A promise.
She didn’t know how long she had been running, but her legs finally gave out.
Her body slammed into the base of an ancient oak.
Pain flared up her side.Good.She wanted it to hurt... maybe she did not... maybe she did...
Shifting back was agony too.
Her muscles screamed as she forced herself into human skin. She collapsed against the tree, gasping, sweat and dirt streaking her naked body.
Her hands shook.
Her whole body shook. She just sat there, heaving!
Minutes passed. Or hours. She didn’t know. Finally, she pushed herself up, ignoring the ache in her limbs.
"Fine...If he wants her...or any fucking body...he can have them... all... the entire lot of them..." Her wolf growled in protest. Autumn silenced her with a grunt. "But he doesn’t get me anymore. You and I, Alpha Kieran... we aren’t nothing no more... till I reject you... you mean nothing to me... absolutely NOTHING! GO FUCK YOURSELF, BASTARD! "
Suddenly the air thickened with something metallic...like old coins and wet earth.A shadow moved but not right. It stretched too long, twitching at the edges as if alive. "Ahh! Finally, little wolf. Excellent choice! "
