Chapter 36: Chapter 36: Creation

Heart pounding with nervous anticipation, Jiang Qin drank the bottle of Superpower Awakening Liquid, which looked like a glucose solution.

It was virtually tasteless.

Ten minutes passed...

Jiang Qin still felt nothing.

She looked at her hands and silently pleaded, ’Come on, fire? Water? Ice? Tree vines? Lightning?’

Fine, she was getting ahead of herself. Nothing happened.

After another five minutes, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her head. Her vision went black, and she passed out completely.

When she woke up again, her mind felt empty, yet spacious—as if ready to accommodate a multitude of new ideas.

As if guided, the image in her mind finally settled on a large lightbulb.

Mainly, it was because she suddenly remembered the elementary school textbooks from her first life on Earth.

In those illustrations, whenever one of the little characters had a good idea, a lightbulb would appear over their head.

And now, she felt as if there was a lightbulb hovering over her own head. So, a lightbulb appeared in her mind’s eye, and she even found herself mentally tracing its outline.

And then!

The large lightbulb actually appeared before her very eyes!

Jiang Qin stared at the glowing lightbulb in front of her, a little stunned.

She knew what Superpower she had awakened.

A branch of Spiritual Ability: Creation.

The lightbulb before her remained lit. She reached out to touch it, and it felt just like a real, solid object.

This Superpower had been recorded in Interstellar history, but those records were from two thousand years ago.

This Superpower allowed a person to take things from their imagination and manifest them into reality using their spiritual power.

How much one could manifest depended entirely on the strength of their spiritual power. How long the manifestation lasted was also dependent on it.

Generally speaking, a Level 1 Superpower could, at most, manifest small, ordinary objects, or a phantasmal image of a larger one.

A phantasmal image was just that—an image, without a physical form.

For example, if Jiang Qin wanted to manifest a creature from the *Classic of Mountains and Seas*.

When her spiritual power was low, only a phantasm would appear, similar to a holographic projection. The difference was that she could control the phantasm in real-time.

Holographic projections could only display pre-set images, like a pre-rendered video.

But to fully manifest a creature from the *Classic of Mountains and Seas*—complete with a physical body and its unique skills—would require an immense amount of spiritual power.

Simply maintaining them would consume a massive amount of spiritual power.

The moment her spiritual power was depleted, the manifested object would vanish instantly.

With her current B-level spiritual power, she could probably create some live animals at most. As for how long she could maintain them, she hadn’t tried yet, so there was no way to know.

To be honest, Jiang Qin suspected she had awakened this particular Superpower precisely because the Superpower Awakening Liquid was a product of the System.

After all, this Superpower was a perfect match for her System.

’Once my spiritual power is a bit stronger, I could maintain a movie, a TV show, or even a play. Wouldn’t I basically be a living media player?’

Maintaining an image was much simpler than maintaining a physical object, and it consumed far less spiritual power.

’Maybe I can already sustain a whole TV episode right now.’ she thought.

***

Filmmaking in the Interstellar era was actually quite similar to how it was on Earth. You still had to hire actors, even for background roles. Productions generally avoided using holographic projections for things like corpses or passersby; only low-budget flops would resort to that.

They simply looked too fake, and audiences could spot the difference at a glance, which completely broke their immersion.

Therefore, film crews would always use real actors and practical sets whenever possible, resorting to holographic scenery only when absolutely necessary.

Backgrounds weren’t so bad; being inanimate, they could be touched up in post-production. But it didn’t work for people. Holographic humans were just too lifeless.

But the images Jiang Qin could control could be *alive*.

’As long as I have enough spiritual power, I could recreate an entire movie all by myself.’

’Then I could just record it, dub the audio in post-production, and I could bring all the movies and TV shows from Earth right over here, couldn’t I?’

This was why Jiang Qin suspected there was something fishy about the supposedly random nature of her Superpower awakening.

Not that it mattered. She really liked this Superpower.

’In truth, I would’ve been happy with any Superpower. It was a freebie, after all. Who am I to be picky?’

To test how long her current spiritual power could maintain an object, she decided not to let the lightbulb disappear. Instead, she placed it on her bedside table to use as a night light.

She checked the time. It was already two in the morning, which meant she had been unconscious for about three hours.

It had been an eventful day, and Jiang Qin felt exhausted.

She hastily took a shower and fell fast asleep.

The next day, the first thing she saw upon waking was the lightbulb on her bedside table.

It was still there, looking exactly the same; it hadn’t disappeared.

After washing up and getting dressed, Jiang Qin went to the living room and grabbed a tube of nutrient liquid to drink.

It didn’t taste good, but she was never picky. No matter how foul it was, it was still better than the times she’d had nothing to eat or drink at all.

She’d lost count of the nights she had spent curled up on the floor, falling asleep to the burning ache in her stomach.

During those agonizing days, her only hope had been to save up enough money for a Spaceship Ticket, leave the Barren Star, and find her family.

Or, perhaps, that her family would find her first. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

That was why her tolerance for the Jiang Family had been so high.

After all, they were the family she had longed for day and night. How could she have possibly let go before all hope was truly lost?

And yet, even when she viewed them through a filter thicker than a steel plate, she was still left with disappointment in the end.

Jiang Qin shook her head, pushing the thought away. ’Such depressing thoughts first thing in the morning. What a jinx!’

Shi Lichuan, who was just coming in, saw the scene the moment he opened the door.

’The petite young woman shaking her head as she drank her nutrient liquid... was quite cute,’ he thought.

The corners of his lips curved up slightly as he greeted her.

"Good morning, Miss Jiang."

"Morning, Captain Shi. Have you guys had your nutrient liquid yet?"

"Not yet, we were just about to. Are you planning to go out today?"

Jiang Qin shook her head. "No, I’m staying in. Uncle You Wei should be sending someone over soon to install some recording equipment for me."

There was a partitioned area in her room that served as a study, which could easily be converted into a small recording booth.

That way, she wouldn’t have to rent a studio anymore.

Then, for the rest of the day, she planned to record the songs she had accumulated recently and upload them on July 1st.

The rankings for this month’s new song chart would close at 11:59 PM the day after tomorrow. Currently, "As Wished" had already climbed to third place.

"Anonymous Comfort" was right behind it.

"Ningxia" was holding the eighth spot.

She alone held three spots in the top ten.

The scenario they had all feared was now a reality, and as a result, quite a few people were getting triggered lately.

This was especially true for the singers who thought they had the top rankings in the bag.

But then a dark horse had suddenly emerged.

She had released just three songs and had already come from behind to snatch three of the top spots. How could the artists she had displaced possibly take that lying down?

Furious, they naturally started digging into who this Jiang Qin was.

And what they found were the recordings of her livestream.

And holy crap—the two songs from her two PK battles, plus the ten songs from when she’d let them challenge her... In total, she still had twelve more songs she hadn’t even uploaded yet!
