A Low Rank Female Goes Viral Across the Galaxy-Chapter 149: Damned Cat
After her shower, Jiang Qin heard a knock. She walked over and opened the door, still toweling her hair dry.
When Yun Xie saw her, his gaze darkened, and his breath hitched.
"Mr. Yun, can I help you?"
He snapped out of it and held out his wrist. "Shall we exchange Light Brain Numbers? It’ll make it easier to keep in touch."
"Okay, sure," Jiang Qin agreed.
Once her contact was added to his Light Computer, a slight smile touched Yun Xie’s lips. "Well then, good night. Sweet dreams."
"Good night."
...
But neither of the two who had just wished each other good night went to bed.
First, Jiang Qin sent messages to everyone to let them know she was safe. Then, she started scrolling through the night’s trending topics.
Unsurprisingly, she was dominating the trending topics again.
#Star Thieves Infiltrate Main Star. A Defensive Flaw, or Are the Thieves Simply Too Powerful?#
#Jiang Qin Vanishes Again. Can She Be Rescued This Time?#
#Why Are Star Thieves So Obsessed with Abducting Jiang Qin?#
#Rumor: Can Jiang Qin Really Break the Current Limits on Soothing?#
#After Multiple Females Cooperated with Research, Why Has the Institute Remained Silent on the Results?#
...
There were several more in a row. She had almost single-handedly taken over the front page of trending topics.
Deep in the Interstellar night, many people were still active on the Star Network.
They were even more furious than the first time Jiang Qin had been abducted.
After all, back then, Jiang Qin had just been a low-level soothing master working in a small bar on a Second-class Star.
It wasn’t all that surprising for a female like her to be targeted by Star Thieves and disappear.
After all, those Star Thieves had been running rampant for a long time. They’d dare to snatch females from the Empire, let alone the Federation, if they really wanted to.
But the cost was high, so unless there was significant value, they wouldn’t go out of their way to abduct a female.
It was a cruel thing to say, but...
...the truth was that females from low-level stars were easy to get.
They didn’t even have to kidnap them; they could trick plenty of females for their research.
So, unless absolutely necessary, those mad scientists wouldn’t target any one particular female.
And Jiang Qin was the unlucky one they had set their sights on.
In truth, it wasn’t just those scientists; the Federation’s own scientists were also very interested in her.
It was just that the Federation was, at its core, a society of law, and there were certain lines they had to be careful not to cross.
Another reason was that Jiang Qin’s Level was too low. Even if she was useful, her use was limited.
Besides, they already understood the principle behind her ability.
Although the Institute hadn’t publicly announced its research findings, new lessons were already being implemented in the soothing courses for females.
However, there hadn’t been any successful cases to date.
They were trying to cultivate the females’ personal interests and hobbies.
The hope was that they, too, could achieve a deep, autonomous soothing of their Spiritual Bodies through activities they were passionate about.
If that worked, some of the High-level males who didn’t have a female partner would have a chance at being saved.
But unfortunately, they were ultimately different from Jiang Qin. Even with things they genuinely loved, they still couldn’t reach that state.
However, quite a few females who enjoyed listening to music and were also big fans of Jiang Qin had managed to achieve autonomous externalization of their Spiritual Bodies.
It happened every time, live at the bar where Jiang Qin performed.
Without both of those conditions met, they couldn’t succeed either.
So, they had no choice but to continue their research.
...
Seeing how worried everyone was, Jiang Qin posted a status update on the Star Network to let them know she was safe.
She also announced that she would be taking a few days off and would only be able to return to work after the infiltrating Star Thieves were all captured.
The Star Thieves had gone to great lengths to capture her this time.
’They must have lost a lot of people this time. They probably won’t be able to organize another large-scale infiltration for a while.’
Her guess was correct.
That very night, the bounty for her on the Dark Web had increased again.
Beneath the bounty post, anonymous Star Thieves were cursing up a storm:
[DAMN IT, I lost ten people this time.]
[FUCK, if I’d known she was this much trouble, I wouldn’t have gotten involved. That little female is surrounded by too many heavy hitters.]
[We lost all our guys in there. Aren’t the Doctors going to compensate us for our losses?]
[After this, the Main Star is probably going to be even harder to infiltrate. The Black Shark Gang is dropping this mission.]
Just as they were grumbling and swearing, the bounty amount changed again.
[Capture Jiang Qin alive. Reward: Ten billion Star Coins + one of Dr. A’s new model Mechas, plus one slot for a custom-built Mecha.
Note: Teamwork is recommended. Minor injuries are acceptable, but do not seriously harm her.]

Ten billion Star Coins, plus a brand-new Mecha...
It had to be said, that was an astronomical price!
To put it in perspective, assassinating an S-level male only cost about one hundred million Star Coins.
And the price to capture Jiang Qin alive was equivalent to that of a hundred S-level males.
And that wasn’t even counting the opportunity for a custom-built Mecha.
It was clear just how obsessed those Doctors were with Jiang Qin.
Even the Star Thieves who had just been complaining about being screwed over were tempted once again.
[The Devourer Gang is recruiting experts on the forum tomorrow. Bounty to be split.
Interested parties, leave a message tomorrow.]
[Recruiting for a team. The bounty will be split evenly. The Mecha and the custom build slot will be auctioned off, with proceeds split evenly.
S-level males and above, DM me. If your Level isn’t high enough, don’t bother.]
[Anyone with Jiang Qin’s real-time location and data, contact the Black Shark Gang. We’re buying for a high price.]
[Buying info +1.]
...
Meanwhile, the people who knew Jiang Qin and could access the Dark Web had no time to check it.
They were all preoccupied.
Shi Lichuan, for instance, was currently lost.
Every trail he followed turned out to be a dead end, a mere diversion.
His anxiety was so intense it had nearly triggered a spiritual rampage, a frantic, blood-red light flickering in his eyes.
Fortunately, Jiang Qin’s message saying she was safe allowed him to calm down.
He quickly drank an Inhibitor and gave himself a shot to get it under control.
Once he had stabilized, he headed back to the villa to handle the task Jiang Qin had given him.
The little blue cat, on the other hand, had been more successful. It had tracked its target to the outside of Yun Xie’s house.
Right now, the man and the cat were in a standoff.
The once-small cat was now a massive beast, as large as a tiger.
It still looked like a cat, though, and its fur remained a watery blue.
It was hissing furiously at Yun Xie, its body poised to attack.
In contrast, Yun Xie, standing opposite it, was far more composed.
"You smell like her."
"MROWL—"
"No need to be so fierce. Is she your master?"
"In that case, I suppose I count as half your master in the future. So, little kitty, you’d best be polite."
The cat, which understood him perfectly, only grew more ferocious. Its body arched, ready to spring at any second.
The smile vanished from Yun Xie’s face. His expression turned cold. "If it weren’t for her, you’d be a dead cat right now."
’He really wanted to threaten the cat some more. But when he thought of Jiang Qin, he couldn’t bring himself to say he’d kill it. Whatever. As long as she’s happy, I can put up with this indignity.’ 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Damn cat, you’re just as annoying as that bear."
"Now hurry up, shrink down, and follow me. Do you really want to die?"
"And keep it down. If you wake her, I’ll shave you bald!"
