Chapter 122: A Visit to the Church

Brat hesitated for a moment before entering, but once he took a bite, he was clearly impressed.

He did not exactly devour the food, but he finished everything at a surprising speed.

At the castle, he had only eaten dishes that had grown cold with time.

The freshly made food that was full of strong and wild flavors seemed to suit the growing prince very well.

"It is very delicious... but it truly is made for adventurers. For me, the portion is a little too much."

"You eat small portions."

"Please do not compare me to Leander and the others. They simply eat too much."

"I can finish mine too," Albe added.

"...... "

Even Albe who did not look much bigger than him said he could finish it.

Brat had no reply.

"Um, would you like me to eat the rest? The leftovers..."

"What?"

That was unexpected.

Qiong Xing and Albe both looked surprised at Brat’s suggestion.

But Qiong Xing did not like wasting food, so he gratefully handed over the plate to Brat.

Albe whose sitting beside him looked even more shocked at that.

After finishing their meal without any problems, they resumed their walk.

Soon, they found a small shop filled with books stacked tightly from wall to wall.

A bookstore!

Qiong Xing’s face brightened as he stepped inside and began browsing.

In his previous life, reading had been his hobby.

He had been curious about what kinds of books existed in this world.

"Do you two read?"

"I hate studying," Albe said immediately.

"I was made to read a few books as part of my education," Brat answered.

It seemed that, to them, books were only for studying.

There were so many interesting books in the world, stories, picture books, adventures.

If they only saw books as study material, they were missing out on a lot.

Qiong Xing picked out several picture books as souvenirs for Cari. Then, with the two of them looking bored, he left the shop.

"Where should we go next? That shop over there... Oh, there is a church here?"

The church stood deep in a quiet corner at the edge of town.

He had completely forgotten about it. But when the image of two young boys suddenly appeared in his mind, Qiong Xing gave a small bitter smile.

Even though he had promised to visit them, many things had happened and he had forgotten.

Feeling a little guilty, Qiong Xing decided to head to the church.

"Sorry. I can’t go any farther than this."

At the gate, Albe’s face twisted in discomfort.

Since it clearly bothered him, Qiong Xing told him to wait outside and entered with Brat.

For Albe who was a demon a holy place like a church was probably painful to endure.

"Aren’t you going to pray?" Qiong Xing asked Brat.

"I have never done it. I was never allowed to take part in those ceremonies or duties..."

Brat lowered his head.

"In that case, you can start now. You can pray as much as you want," Qiong Xing said.

Brat nodded quietly.

The inside of the church was small but very clean.

Even though the building was old, it was well maintained.

At the center in the front stood a stone statue shaped like a God.

When Qiong Xing looked at it, it overlapped with the image of the boy he knew.

He greeted a nearby priest and walked closer to the statue.

He did not know the proper way to pray.

Still, he knelt down and pressed his hands together in front of his chest.

I wonder if they are doing well, he thought as he closed his eyes.

In that instant, the world turned completely white and he knew he had returned to that other place.

"Qiong Xing!"

A loud voice and almost crying voice called out to him.

It filled him with nostalgia.

"It has been a while. Have you been well?" he asked gently.

A boy rushed at him as if launching an attack and hugged him tightly.

Qiong Xing immediately caught him with a small laugh.

Just as he expected, the boy lifted his face, which was messy with tears and snot and nodded again and again.

"It has been a while," another boy said.

"Solin, you look well too. I’m sorry it took me so long to come see you."

When Qiong Xing opened his arms and gestured for him to come, Solin hesitated shyly for a moment before hugging him as well.

Maybe because he was living with Cari, the way Qiong Xing treated the two boys had become slightly like how he treated small children.

"Thanks to you two, I’m able to live happily every day. Thank you so much," Qiong Xing said sincerely.

"I’m so glad!" Lunios cried out loudly.

"If you are happy, then I am happy too," Solinos said softly. "I was worried about you the whole time. But if you are enjoying your life, then that is enough."

Qiong Xing could never thank them enough for giving him this chance.

"Thank you," Qiong Xing said again and he pulled both of them into a tight embrace.

"A lot of things has happened, but I’m very happy now. Even though my partner is a man, I have found someone to spend my life with. I also have cute child now."

"I know," Lunios said quietly. "I’m jealous. He gets to stay with you all the time."

"...You know?"

Qiong Xing tilted his head in confusion.

He had never told them about that, so how did they know?

He was about to ask what that meant, but..

"More importantly," Lunios quickly continued, "how was the magic bag we gave you? We put many useful things inside it..."

"It helped me a lot," Qiong Xing answered honestly. "It’s really amazing. In that world, there was nothing like a refrigerator, so being able to store food without it rotting was a huge help. And it can hold far more than it looks like it should."
