A Favor Done, A Husband Won-Chapter 208: Jing Jihan Clearly Has No Intention of Stepping Aside
The room service manager was here, but it was a different one this time, older and seemingly more reliable, with a small toolbox in hand.
As soon as he entered, he started apologizing to Shi Su, bowing and scraping, so sincerely that she couldn’t utter a word of complaint or criticism. She could only point towards the bathroom: "I’ve just used the shampoo, haven’t rinsed it off yet, and the floor is slippery. Be careful when you go in."
After the manager went in, it wasn’t even a few minutes before he said from inside: "I can fix it, but it’ll take some time."
"How long?"
"About an hour or so."
Shi Su: "..."
In over an hour, the shampoo on her hair might just naturally dry along with it.
Without making a sound, she was about to close the door when she glanced at the firmly shut door across the corridor. After hesitating for a few seconds, her eyes lit up, and she turned back to grab her phone.
The spacious business car was on its way back to the hotel. The driver was someone sent by Z City, and Zhou He sat in the front passenger seat.
Jing Jihan was sitting behind the driver, holding a tablet and reviewing reports that needed his personal attention, sent by the company.
His phone vibrated in his pocket. He picked it up and saw a WeChat message from Shi Su—
Shi Su: [Are you staying at the resort vila with the Jiang City officials tonight? Not coming back to Junkai Hotel, right?]
Jing Jihan replied: [Why?]
Seeing that he didn’t deny it, Shi Su easily assumed he’d be spending the night at the resort vila.
Shi Su: [The water heater in my room is broken, and since you’re not coming back tonight, can I borrow your room just to take a shower?]
After sending that, Shi Su also casually sent a "begging cat" emoji.
"Zhou He, tell the Junkai Hotel front desk to bring an 8806 room card to 8805."
Zhou He was suddenly startled by what Mr. Jing said. He instinctively turned around to ask why, but the question stopped just at his lips, and after responding, he directly called the front desk of Junkai Hotel.
On the other side, Shi Su stared at her phone, thinking there was no way Jing Jihan would refuse. After all, he wasn’t coming back tonight, so using his bathroom shouldn’t be an issue.
But after she sent that emoji, there was no further reply from Jing Jihan.
Was it because she didn’t sound sincere enough?
She added another line, outlining the situation emotionally and logically—
Shi Su: [You have no idea how cold the water was. While showering, it suddenly turned freezing, gushing from head to toe. I’m still chilled to the bone.]
Just two seconds after sending, the doorbell rang again. Puzzled, Shi Su opened the door to find a hotel staffer in uniform respectfully handing her a room card.
Shi Su: "?"
The person outside directly explained, "Miss Shi, this is the room card for 8806 across from you. Please take it."
"Ah? Oh, thank you." Shi Su took it with a look of realization. After the person left, she looked at the room card again, then glanced at her phone.
On the phone screen, still on the WeChat page, was a reply from Jing Jihan: [It hasn’t arrived yet?]
Shi Su: [It’s here, it’s here. No words can express my gratitude! (Fist bump)]
She put down her phone, quickly grabbed her towel and bathrobe, hurried over to open the door of the room across, just wanting to enjoy a good shower.
The cold water from earlier might have truly frozen her; there was no issue with the water temperature in Jing Jihan’s room. It could be as hot as desired, and she could shower for as long as she liked. After washing her hair, she even filled up the bathtub and soaked in it, surrounded by warm water, finally letting out a comfortable sigh of relief.
Warm!
Comfortable!
Jing Jihan might as well stay at the resort for a few more days, all the way until returning to Jiang City.
His room was really nice, and this was the best shower she’d had since coming to Z City!
She had no idea how long she’d been soaking, but feeling that she might faint if she stayed longer, Shi Su finally rose from the bathtub with a face flushed from the heat, took another shower, then dried off and wrapped herself in a towel, ready to go fetch her bathrobe.
Earlier, when she entered the room, she had casually placed the bathrobe on the sofa by the bed.
The bathroom was steamy with wafting mist as Shi Su walked out barefooted, pushing open the bathroom door—
"Click, creak."
Just as she stepped out, she suddenly heard a quiet sound of the door opening from that direction.
Shi Su didn’t have time to react, instinctively turning her head.
After arriving at the hotel, Jing Jihan had called Shi Su, but she didn’t answer.
It had been long enough; she should be done showering by now.
As he opened the door, he was startled to see a woman emerging from the bathroom wrapped in nothing but a towel, which barely covered half of her thighs.
Shi Su’s shoulders, collarbones, and arms were exposed, and her legs were slender and well-shaped.
Her long black hair was only casually dried, semi-damp and tousled, as she stood barefoot on the carpet. The towel was tied loosely, almost coming undone as she suddenly froze in place.
The bathroom door wasn’t closed, and the air around her was still wrapped in lingering mist from the bathroom, so her innocent cleanliness was mixed with a touch of bewildered charm.
Jing Jihan looked at her and perhaps found the scene so pleasing that after two or three seconds, he gave her another deep glance.
Shi Su: "......"
One second, two seconds, three seconds... ten seconds...
After experiencing immense shock and embarrassment in silence, Shi Su reacted, quickly lifting a hand to cover the front of her towel while darting to the bedside sofa to grab her bathrobe before rushing back to the bathroom. It was as if the man in the room was a fierce beast, and she decisively and quickly shut the door with a bang.
Two minutes later, having put on a bathrobe over her towel and wrapped a dry hair cap on her head, the woman opened the door and came out.
"Why didn’t you say you were coming back tonight?" Shi Su asked naturally, as if nothing had just happened, while looking down and searching for her indoor slippers, which had been hastily tossed aside somewhere.
As she searched, she noticed her slippers were by the carpet at the room entrance, less than half a meter from where he stood.
She lifted her eyes, reluctantly meeting the man’s gaze.
Jing Jihan’s gaze hadn’t left her, but he evidently didn’t avoid her eyes, calmly replying, "I never said I wasn’t coming back."
Shi Su’s mouth twitched, suddenly recalling that she had merely assumed in her WeChat message, while he indeed never said he wouldn’t come back.
"I called you a few minutes ago, but you didn’t answer."
"...I left my phone in my room, didn’t hear it."
Jing Jihan chuckled softly, without continuing the conversation.
What’s so funny?
What are you looking at?!
Standing on the carpet, Shi Su wasn’t focused on the earlier incident but rather on how she could smoothly get to her slippers and return to her own room.
Jing Jihan just stood there, evidently not intending to give way.
After giving it some thought, Shi Su spoke: "Well, I’ve finished using the bathroom; it’s getting late, so I’ll just..."
"Come over here."
The man’s voice suddenly resonated in the air, carrying a hint of hoarseness, yet oddly compelling and irresistible.
