A Crazy Love Proposal-Chapter 41 - 35 The True Princess
Chapter 41: Chapter 35 The True Princess
Chapter 41 -35 The True Princess
She was so choked up that she couldn’t even cry, “I don’t want…”
Wen Yangzhi pulled a best-seller from the latest carton of books, his deep, cool voice ringing in her ear, intimate and eager, unusually gentle:
“Is it this one?”
She shook her head furiously.
He then crisply pulled out a limited edition collector’s item. The action was so neat and careless that it creased one of its corners, and he glanced at her sideways, “Or is it this one?”
She sobbed without control, “It’s not, I don’t want any of them.”
Wen Yangzhi casually set that book down and spoke to her earnestly, refusing to brush her off just because she was throwing a tantrum, “If you don’t tell me, how will your brother know which one you want?”
The more she thought about it, the more unlucky she felt, reaching to wipe away her tears, tears that kept flowing embarrassingly, wailing:
“I don’t want the comic.”
Wen Yangzhi supported her armpit to adjust her posture, allowing her to sit sideways on his thigh, so he could see her face and talk to her up close, his heroic and serene face so close, his clean and expansive eyes silently watching her.
She felt extremely embarrassed with her face covered in tears and snot, so much so that she reached out to cover her face.
Wen Yangzhi pulled open a drawer and took out a clean, azure blue, soft handkerchief to wipe her face, drying her tears bit by bit.
With the tip of his finger against the soft handkerchief, he wiped her eyes and then pinched her nose to wipe away the snot, tossing the dirtied handkerchief into a basket. He asked her lightly, as if taking care of a small child:
“Are you so angry because I won’t let you into Jing Building?”
Yun Yuwan shook her head against her will, and Wen Yangzhi looked at her. Unable to help herself, she nodded again.
She choked up, “You… why are you like this? I won’t like you anymore.”
Although Wen Yangzhi still had little expression, his face remained calm and his voice was as tranquil as a still sea, yet it was rare for him to be in such a good temper, “Brother is wrong, will you continue to like your brother, please?”
His emotionless face just stared at her, making her heart race uncontrollably.
In one moment of restless sitting, her hand pressed against his thigh, subconsciously wanting to retreat, but with nowhere to go, the full glass window behind her blocked her escape. His gaze was straightforward and calm, watching her, causing her entire body to burn with discomfort, her heart tingling and throbbing as she couldn’t stop swallowing.
He secured her waist with one hand while her skirt rustled against his light-colored jeans, dangling from his legs. Silently, he shifted her back into his embrace, each touch so tender it was irresistible. She was completely wrapped in his arms, not like coaxing a child but more like intimate boyfriend and girlfriend.
Hong Sheng was essentially her family friend’s brother.
There should have been other possibilities.
Wen Yangzhi, as if he hadn’t said anything just before, continued to ask her, “Which one do you want?”
Her hand involuntarily clenched, grasping the hem of her white dress.
When she remained silent, he wrapped one arm around her waist while his other hand’s fingers skimmed along the side of another carton, slightly opening a gap with each book, allowing her to see the cover, waiting for her to speak up.
His profile was serious, his contours sharp yet so close she could clearly see him. She had never seen his face from such a short distance.
His skin was consistently toned, with a small mole below his ear, the structure of his face striking and so perfect it could be used as a model for drawings. Even under such close scrutiny, he was very handsome.
He kept flipping, and from the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of the comic she wanted and hastily spoke up:
“That one… called ‘Flower Shop at No. 18 Long Street’.”
But her voice was too soft.
Maybe Wen Yangzhi didn’t hear her clearly as he leaned closer to her ear with his face beside hers, his low, tender voice asking, “What did you say?”
He was so close, it was almost too much for her. With difficulty, she repeated it:
“Flower Shop at No. 18 Long Street.”
Wen Yangzhi turned back and searched the carton for the book ‘Flower Shop at No. 18 Long Street.’
Nonchalantly, he took a pen from nearby and made a slit along the edge of the plastic seal, tore open the clear wrapping with ease, the crisp sound of the plastic like tiny explosions, revealing the book in its entirety before her eyes.
She sat on Wen Yangzhi’s thigh, watching him spread the book on the carpet.
Before flipping it open, his voice was steady as the calm sea, making it seem like he was talking about a mere trifle: “I don’t let people into Jing Building, but if you really want to, I never said you can’t go in.”
“Not even aunt and uncle?”
He said indifferently, “They’ve never come in.”
Yun Yuwan seemed to lose her anger in an instant.
Not allowing anyone into Jing Building was just my brother’s habit after all.
Wen Yangzhi hugged her and flipped through the pages for her, the tender images now didn’t seem to make her want to cry at that moment.
He was like a lighthouse where she could anchor, his body temperature and breathing strongly supporting her, she wasn’t without a family, her brother was her home.

Halfway through, her hands gently rested on Wen Yangzhi’s broad arms that were around her waist, and he did not move them away, letting her stay there.
After a while, he turned the pages with one hand, the other naturally adjusting its position but still holding her.
Finally, she whispered, “Actually, I wasn’t crying because of the book…”
His page-flipping did not stop, “Mhm.”
She thought he didn’t want to listen and retracted what she was going to say.
But Wen Yangzhi said softly, “Why, I didn’t hear.”
She was a bit surprised but started to mutter:
“I just so happened to transfer to Yang Ni’s class, Yang Ni thought I did it to curry favor with him, he has always been leading the classmates to isolate me, calling me a fake, saying I’m a pretend princess. When others find out I am the daughter of the Wen family and want to befriend me, he spreads that story everywhere. Today, I fainted in class from low blood sugar, and they said I was faking it, trying to attract Yang Ni’s attention.”
It sounded childishly amusing, she was a bit afraid he would laugh, thinking she was overly concerned about some unimportant trifles, just laughable skirmishes between kids.
But Wen Yangzhi did not laugh, just quietly listened, knowing it must be significant to her since she was upset, and he asked her, “What do you want to do?”
She was a bit timid, “I want to… drop out.”
She was full of trepidation, afraid he would say she was making a mountain out of a molehill, but Wen Yangzhi simply said, tranquilly:
“Do you want to go back to your old school?”
She was overjoyed, “Can I?”
Wen Yangzhi hummed softly, stating the fact as if it were ordinary, “You can, because here with your brother, you are a real princess.”
He didn’t even look at her, just lowered his eyes to the comic book she liked.
There was neither disdain nor mockery, nor any condescension towards a child’s troubles.
But his accustomed declaration stirred more than a deliberate emphasis ever could.
Her nervousness that she had always carefully guarded finally relaxed a bit, and she dared to speak her mind:
“But I don’t really want to go back to the old school either, everyone knows I left, it would be embarrassing to go back now.”
Wen Yangzhi raised his eyelids, “Then how about transferring to my alma mater, would you be willing?”
She was thrilled, “I would!”
“Later when we go back, let’s prepare for your school transfer, I’ll have it arranged within a week,” he said.
A weight finally lifted, she felt like she could breathe at last.
Yun Yuwan cautiously broached, “Brother, do you smoke?”
He murmured low, “Hmm?”
She reached out, gripping his collar tightly, “There’s a smell of smoke on you, I, I smelled it.”
He smiled lightly, “Oh, you smelled it.”
Her face began to heat up.
Actually, it wasn’t strong, the dry and indifferent tobacco scent mixed with the nearly Purple Gown Wood-like cool fragrance of his body, which suited his temperament even more.
Yun Yuwan gently loosened his collar, having not felt such an indulgent atmosphere for too long, she was careful even within it, afraid to shatter the beautiful dream.
Wen Yangzhi asked her warmly, “Besides this, is there anything else troubling you?”
