A Core Ship From The Start-Chapter 812 - 574: Dimensional Shock
Chapter 812: Chapter 574: Dimensional Shock
Although Aikute had a timid and compliant personality, appearing like a hamster with a clear stress response, her efficiency in handling matters was still reliable. It didn’t take much time for Duanmu Huai to receive a list from Aikute.
It included: one Oberon-class Battleship flagship, three Orion-class Battle Cruisers, ten Moon Class cruisers and Gothic-class Cruisers, fifteen Indomitable-class Light Cruisers, and thirty Scimitar-class Escort Ships.
Beyond that, it also encompassed one Golia-class Factory Ship and five Golia-class Forge Ships.
Well, how should I put this... From Aikute’s choices, one could discern her tactical inclinations.
The warships she selected were not popular among players, some even considered niche, but their sole commonality was—versatility.
Indeed, except for the Moon Class and Gothic Class complementing each other, the other warships were all Imperial Battleships designed with versatility in mind.
But in fact, players did not really favor such an all-rounder formation in actual combat, because being all-rounded signifies mediocrity and lack of characteristics. It also means difficulties in fleet management. On the contrary, those ships with distinct features were much more convenient for the players.
Fast ships serve as Scouts, those with strong defenses act as Tanks, and the heavily-armed ones take the main offensive. At least players can more readily decide on a formation.
After all, it’s clear at a glance.
But Aikute’s choice was entirely different.
First, take the flagship Oberon-class Battleship. It was completely a "jack of all trades." It didn’t have the Emperor Level ability to launch a large number of Carrier Aircraft nor the firepower of a Macro Cannon like the Retributive Level or Apocalypse-class. However, it could use a combination of Macro Cannon, Light Spear, and Carrier Aircraft in its attacks—it’s honestly enough to give many players a headache just by seeing this.
Duanmu Huai felt the same; single-type attacks could be easily countered, but they were convenient.
When you have one ship that does both Macro Cannons and Light Spears and also needs to deploy Carrier Aircraft, it’s impossible to manage everything, and having diverse offensive means results in weakened firepower—after all, the size of a ship is finite. If you take space meant for weapons and turn it into a hangar, the number of weapons surely decreases.
The Orion-class Battle Cruisers were primarily used against small units, such as swarms of Carrier Aircraft or insects, and in a narrow sense, were a type of anti-air Cruiser. Clearly, this was a deliberate choice by Aikute after hearing about the situation in that Galaxy from Duanmu Huai; after all, you can’t use Macro Cannons to attack Mechas.
That would truly be "using a sledgehammer to crack a nut" in the literal sense.
No need to elaborate on the Moon Class and Gothic Class, they are the eternal backbone of the Imperial Fleet. All else could be absent, but these two are indispensable. Whether in terms of appearance or firepower, they are top-notch. It would be strange if Aikute didn’t include them in the formation.
The Indomitable-class Light Cruisers were the best candidates for scouting ships, not only for their speed but also their stealth. They sacrificed the common armor of Imperial Battleships for more agility and faster response—a fitting selection for Aikute’s style. Based on the few battles Duanmu Huai had fought, it was clear that Aikute valued flexibility and speed, while she didn’t seem to prioritize defense excessively. She appeared to prefer maintaining distance through range than to engage in close combat with the enemy and suffer unnecessary losses.
This was very characteristic of Aikute, who indeed appeared rather timid and cautious.
The Scimitar-class Escort Ships were also versatile, adapted for patrolling, escorting, and rearguard actions. Of course, the drawback of versatility was the weak defense of the Scimitar-class Escorts, which usually operated in groups of six. This was why Aikute chose thirty Scimitar-class ships—it was obvious that she planned to form five Escort squads.
As for the Golia-class Factory Ships and Forge Ships, they were indispensable for expeditions. The Factory Ship could absorb energy from stars and convert it into fuel for the fleet, while Forge Ships were mainly responsible for the maintenance and repairs of warships.
By the way, the main use of the Tribunal’s Carrier Aircraft was not to engage in air combat with other Carrier Aircraft but rather to stay in high orbit and send Carrier Aircraft down to assist the ground forces with bombing suppression.
"Hmm..."
After reviewing the list, Duanmu Huai pondered for a moment. Of course, if it were up to Duanmu Huai to form the fleet, he would certainly not have chosen this way. But this time, Duanmu Huai’s trip to that world was not simply for leisure; rather, he hoped that Aikute could find confidence—in all honesty, he couldn’t quite understand why Aikute had such a personality. As the academy’s top student, she should at least have some confidence, right? It was truly baffling to see her acting as if she were inferior to everyone else...
Of course, besides this, Duanmu Huai also wanted others to understand this point—that the Tribunal, although guardian of humanity, did not imply that it refrained from killing.
Oftentimes, the Tribunal killed more people than anyone else.
Since Aikute wanted to arrange the fleet this way, so be it. For now, Duanmu Huai intended to take a hands-off approach. Beyond maintaining a grasp on the overall direction, he planned to leave the rest to Aikute, wanting to see how capable she could be—after all, if she could successfully clear this world, then presumably, her character would change as well.
