A Blind Swordsman's Sword Coffin-Chapter 551 - Quartet
None of them wanted to delay any longer.
Meng Jiangchu’s commands cascaded down the lines, and a hundred-zhang-wide circular platform rose from the depths of a mountain. Eighteen tall golden pillars ringed it, solid gold with intricate patterns carved into their surfaces. The platform was dusty, showing it hadn’t been used in a long time.
Li Guanqi and the others gawked at the massive transport array. They didn’t know it could be so large.
When Li Guanqi traveled from the Azure Cloud Continent to the Soaring Heavens Continent, their large transport array had impressed him. He also used one in the Soaring Heavens Continent, which was even larger. But neither compared to this.
He recalled nearly dying when someone attacked the trans-territory tunnel on his way to the Taiqing Territory. He needed to take his revenge one day.
“Uh... Father-in-Law, could the tunnel of this transport array be damaged by external attacks?”
Meng Jiangchu rolled his eyes. “Only if someone can invade the Divine Treasure Territory and kill me.”
Li Guanqi cocked his head to think. “What if it’s someone on Uncle Long’s level?”
“If someone that powerful attacked us, I wouldn’t be able to protect you even with all of you beside me.” Meng Jiangchu waved them forward. “Alright, move.”
He flew above the transport array and tossed out a piece of broken jade. It looked like a fragment of a round pendant, about a sixth of a circle. The shard shone with golden light, rays shooting into the pillars. The array trembled. Spatial ripples radiated through the air, and golden patterns spread across the entire platform.
Boom!
Powerful spatial ripples burst from the top of the eighteen golden pillars. Then a hundred-zhang-wide tear appeared in the space above.
Meng Jiangchu put the jade piece away and looked at them with a torn expression. “Since you plan to save your friend, don’t be afraid of causing a commotion. If there’s something you can’t resolve, let me know. I’ll bring my men.”
Li Guanqi smiled. It wasn’t exactly appropriate for Meng Jiangchu to appear when it came to matters involving another territory. They’d be dealing with the Southern Heavenly King of the Black Sect Territory, after all, someone similar in rank to Meng Jiangchu himself. But Li Guanqi could feel how much Meng Jiangchu loved his daughter. If something truly went wrong, he knew Meng Jiangchu would visit the Black Sect Territory personally.
Xiao Chen was very excited. Ye Feng calmly looked at him. “Could you stop tapping your foot? Are you that eager?”
“Hey, you wouldn’t understand!” Xiao Chen said. “This is my first time going to another territory to fight someone. It’s too exciting.”
Ye Feng was speechless. He didn’t know how Xiao Chen had survived all these years. Why did it seem like nothing exciting had ever happened in his life?
“By the way, do you need to tell your family where you’re going?”
Xiao Chen froze. “Right, right. I do need to tell my father.”
He took out his jade slip. “Old Xiao, I’m heading to the Black Sect Territory to fight the Southern Heavenly King. If I get captured, remember to come save me.”
He ignored the jade slip’s flashing lights and tossed it back into his storage ring. Grinning, he said, “Alright, I’m done. Shall we go?”
Li Guanqi led Meng Wanshu to Meng Jiangchu and bowed.
The stony-faced Meng Jiangchu said, “You’d better take good care of Wanshu, brat. If anything happens to her, I will be questioning you.”
Li Guanqi patted his chest. “Father-in-Law, don’t worry. Wanshu is the love of my life. I will protect her.”
The four of them stepped into the transport array. The great array roared to life, radiating spatial ripples.
Meng Jiangchu sighed. “Changqing.”
Whoosh!
Li Changqing appeared behind him.
“Watch the array,” Meng Jiangchu said. “Don’t let anything happen.”
Li Changqing stood next to the platform. “Don’t worry, Territory Lord. I will stand guard here.”
Meng Jiangchu turned and muttered, “I’m heading down the mountain to buy a few young hens. Should I buy two pigs for Guilan too? Hmm... Should I take that brat’s suggestion and bring those widows from that village in the Daxia Territory back here?”
These were all suggestions Li Guanqi had given him, and they made sense. However, he couldn’t head to the Daxia Territory just yet, as he had more urgent matters. He planned to make a quick trip down the mountain and return as soon as possible. After all, he’d have to head to the legendary seventh territory afterward.
Buzz!
The walls of the transport tunnel were remarkably sturdy, far more stable than any transport array Li Guanqi had used before. The four of them shielded themselves with vital force.
Li Guanqi wondered aloud, “I wonder how long it’ll take to reach the Black Sect Territory.”
Meng Wanshu thought for a moment. “About two days, I think.”
Ye Feng nearly jumped. “What? Two days? When I traveled from the Daxia Territory to the Taiqing Territory, it took me almost two entire months!”
Meng Wanshu was stunned. “Are there such slow arrays?”
“Are there such fast arrays?” Ye Feng asked. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Meng Wanshu smiled and held up her hand. Light flashed, and a ten-zhang-long spacecraft appeared. “Let’s get on board. It’ll be faster.”
Ye Feng and Xiao Chen hurried inside. They still had to stabilize their cultivation levels. Li Guanqi didn’t even dare let Ye Feng use the treasure he’d received from Long Hou yet, as it was still too dangerous.
After they both started cultivating, Li Guanqi told Meng Wanshu about Cao Yan. She listened intently, pity and anger rising at Cao Yan’s experiences.
She frowned. “If I remember correctly, the current Southern Heavenly King of the Black Sect Territory... also bears the surname Cao.”
Li Guanqi nodded. “Cao Yan took his mother’s surname. The Southern Heavenly King, Cao Zhennan, is his mother’s brother—his biological uncle.”
“What? His biological uncle?” Meng Wanshu’s eyes widened. “Cao Zhennan is so vicious...”
Two days passed quickly.
Li Guanqi opened his eyes and exhaled. Light appeared far ahead of the ice-blue spacecraft. He stood at the front, sword coffin on his back.
“The Southern Heavenly King?” Li Guanqi murmured. “Hmph! I hope Cao Yan is alright... If anything happened to him...”
His eyes hardened. “I don’t mind unleashing a massacre.”
