A Blind Swordsman's Sword Coffin-Chapter 508 - Ill Pay Double
Savoring the feeling of Meng Wanshu’s soft body in his arms, Li Guanqi smiled. He put away the Yanluo Sword carefully and timidly placed his hands on her back.
He’d only dared kiss her so roughly because of how much he missed her. His overwhelming emotions had allowed him to act brazenly.
But now... he felt a little shy. And Li Changqing was standing right there, watching him, clearly worried he’d do something reckless again.
The surrounding cultivators did not even dare breathe.
A criminal captured for public execution had called the Divine Treasure territory lord’s only daughter “my girl.” And she hadn’t denied it. If they hadn’t witnessed everything firsthand, they wouldn’t have believed it.
Not only that, but He Yuanting had left abruptly, and Li Guanqi had triggered an Illusory Refinement Realm heavenly tribulation and broken through on the spot. Then, immediately after his breakthrough, he’d killed a mysterious figure who was powerful enough to invoke an immortal’s name.
Someone swallowed hard and murmured, “This guy is terrifying.”
“It’s rare to encounter such talent in a single lifetime.”
“Everything that happened today felt like a dream... Should I call a random saintess ‘my girl’ too? What if it actually works?”
Having come down from her overwhelming emotions, Meng Wanshu realized they were being inappropriate in public.
Li Guanqi smiled and whispered in her ear, “Should we hug a little longer?”
His hot breath tickled her ear. She punched his chest playfully. “No way!”
The blushing Meng Wanshu pulled herself out of his arms like a kitten, straightened her hair awkwardly, and turned away with her hands clasped behind her back.
Once she’d turned around, she touched her burning cheeks, replaying the scene in her head.
Buzz!
A middle-aged man in luxurious blue robes walked out of the crowd of bystanders. He radiated a powerful aura, standing with impeccable posture.
He took a few steps forward, offered Meng Wanshu and Li Changqing a fist salute, then turned to Li Guanqi. “My name is Geng He, and I’m the mayor of Heavenly Cloud City. You caused considerable damage to my city. That wasn’t exactly appropriate, was it?”
Meng Wanshu’s gaze turned icy. She stepped between him and Li Guanqi. “Oh? What are you going to do about it?”
Geng He froze. Speaking to Li Guanqi, he’d felt like the superior party, able to talk down to him. But facing Meng Wanshu, his pompousness weakened considerably. He gave her a fist salute and smiled. “The Heavenly Cloud City is a floating city, after all. After he cut a corner off, the main array was damaged... Also—”
Meng Wanshu interrupted him with a wave of her hand. “I’ll get it repaired for you.”
“The inner city was severely damaged too...”
“I’ll pay for it. Double.”
The man’s expression turned strange. “Many innocent people were hurt...”
“I’ll take responsibility for it.”
Li Guanqi was very amused. Standing behind her, he smiled and murmured, “My girl is so pretty.”
Meng Wanshu rolled her eyes.
The cultivators who knew Meng Wanshu’s identity gritted their teeth with such force that they nearly cracked them.
Some cultivators in the distance still didn’t recognize Meng Wanshu. They figured she belonged to a strong but unremarkable faction.
Someone snorted. “She’s got some nerve, making those promises. The main flotation array is seriously damaged. Fixing it will take a ton of resources.”
The other cultivators looked at him as if he were an idiot. Someone pointed at Meng Wanshu. “Do you know who she is? Resources? Spirit stones? Arrays? Brother, she’s the only daughter of the Divine Treasure Territory Lord. The Divine Treasure Territory—the place every tier-six alchemist wants to go!”
Meng Wanshu held her hand up, and her snowflake-shaped storage ring glowed softly.
A dense mass of glowing magical treasures appeared around her.
Three items drifted before her: a jade bottle, a sword, and a square seal. All three were ancient treasures.
The bystanders looked at them greedily. Poorer rogue cultivators in the Illusory Refinement Realm might not even own a single ancient treasure, relying mostly on magical treasure-tier items. And yet, Meng Wanshu had at least a hundred magical treasures as well.
Even Li Guanqi gulped at the sight.
Meng Wanshu looked at the mayor coolly. “Mayor Geng, is this... enough?”
Geng He nearly drooled. He nodded vigorously. “Enough, enough. Yes, it’s enough.”
Li Guanqi pursed his lips, his heart aching as he watched Geng He take the treasures.
Seeing the look in Li Guanqi’s eyes, Meng Wanshu winked and sent him a voice transmission. “If you want them, I have a lot more. Don’t worry.”
Li Guanqi smiled. He still couldn’t believe that her father, a crass man from his village, was the Divine Treasure Territory’s territory lord.
So that’s why he was so afraid of my grandfather.
Suddenly, a spatial tear appeared next to Li Guanqi, and a plump, white-haired old man hurried out. He had a fat nose, thick eyebrows, and big eyes, with panic written all over his face.
He wore luxurious white robes embroidered with the Heavenly Intelligence Pavilion’s motifs.
He peered around the moment he stepped out and immediately spotted Li Guanqi standing beside Meng Wanshu.
In a flash, he appeared next to Li Guanqi and pulled him forward, inspecting him up and down.
In the end, he sighed, nearly in tears from relief. “You’re not dead, you’re not dead... That’s good...”
Li Guanqi and Meng Wanshu’s faces darkened. This old man really doesn’t know how to choose his words.
The surrounding cultivators were stunned.
“Who’s this old man? Why haven’t I seen him before?”
“I don’t know. Doesn’t seem like he’s from the Central Prefecture.”
Far away, Shen Bing and Ju Shaolin locked eyes, the gravity of the situation reflected in each other’s gaze.
This old man’s cultivation far surpassed theirs. They couldn’t read his level at all, and they’d never seen him in the Taiqing Territory.
The old man seemed to realize his blunder and bowed to Meng Wanshu. He glanced at Li Guanqi apologetically and explained frantically, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I was just too overwhelmed with relief after seeing that you were fine.”
Only the heavens knew how worried he’d been that Li Guanqi would die.
“Let me introduce myself. I am the pavilion master of the Taiqing Territory’s Heavenly Intelligence Pavilion, Chu Jingze.”
He turned to Geng He. Seeing the treasures laid out before Meng Wanshu, he waved a hand to pull them back, then folded his hands beneath his sleeves and smiled at Geng He. “You want compensation, right? The Heavenly Intelligence Pavilion will cover all costs. Just name a price.”
