A Bastard's Allure-Chapter 121: Azazel
Allicent had learnt about the ongoing battle minutes after Gabriel had left. When she walked into the rampants, she found out that Gabriel had joined the war but was nowhere to be seen when the humans started retreating.
And just when she spotted him in the battlefield, her heart sunk when she saw a hoarde of vampires surrounding him. Her motherly instincts overcame her before she teleported where he was, ready to take him as far away as she could. But someone had outsmarted her, someone more powerful than her!
She teleported back to the palace, now pacing back and forth as a thousand possibilities crossed her mind. The fact that he’d asked her to take him to the underworld recently threw her into a frenzy. Did he really know what awaited him there?
The thought of it scared her to the bone. Unable to contain her fear any longer, she summoned the gates of the underworld, a decision she would later regret.
The gates were tall, made of iron and thick. She whispered something in the demon tongue before they swung open, revealing an abyss ahead.
With her heart still pounding close to her heart, she stepped inside, the door closing behind her. She looked from her shoulder before she braced herself to face her past. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Walking through the abyss of darkness lead her to a winding path that led to the city of the high Lord Azazel. It was the only logic place Gabriel would be taken.
From the mist rose a building so tall it pierced into the sky at the pinnacle. The whole place was eerily silent when Allicent arrived, but she knew better. This was the palace of the damned.
"Who seeks passage into the palace of the damned?" A deep, goofy voice asked once she halted at the gates.
"Allicent of the first order," she replied.
"Welcome, My lady," the voice replied before the double doors swung open to reveal the entrance to the palace.
Allicent walked inside into the throne hall. It was just as she could remember. The expanse was spacious and as high as the eye could see. The throne seat was still there, distant and cold like the one who sat on it.
To the left were the seats of the chamber’s council. She focused on one of them, walking close to touch it. It was made of hardwood that could only be found in the dark forest in the underworld. This particular piece was hard to come by.
"I couldn’t believe it when they said you came," she heard a voice from behind, deep yet elegant as she could remember.
Withdrawing her hand from the seat, she turned around to face Azazel. He slowly landed on the floor as if he’d been hovering in the air for sometime.
His was long raven black hair and a round face that held emerald eyes and thin lips. The aura oozing around him was palpable.
"How could you be so stupid?" He asked, walking past her. In a blur, he was already seated on his throne.
"I knew I’d return, one way or another. I just didn’t expect it to be so soon," she replied.
"You dishonor me with your presence, Allicent. To think that I’d forget what you did to me?" He inhaled sharply as if the words themselves sliced through him.
"To think that you would simply throw away what we had for a vampire, our sworn mortal enemies? And you dare stand in front of me."
"I gave you a chance to live once. I’m not doing it again!"
Allicent took a step forward, her lips parted. "I wouldn’t have come here if I had no reason to," she voiced.
"And what’s the purpose of your self sabotage?" Azazel asked, leaning forward.
"If you really value what we had, please release my son and I’ll be ready to face the consequences of breaking my side of the bargain," she said, her head lowered in humility.
"Tsk ," Azazel laughed. "Why would you think I’d have your filthy halfblood with me? If I was, he’d already be dead!" There was nothing but coldness in his voice.
Allicent’s face lined in confusion, her brows knitted together. If Azazel didn’t have Gabriel, then who did?
"Might be one of your Lords," she pressed.
"My Lords have orders to bring the halfblood to me if they lay their hands on him. I’m going to show him what true power is!" He promised.
Allicent looked at Azazel’s emerald eyes, realization dawning on her.
"It has always been about me this whole time, hasn’t it?"
Azazel’s brows creased, feigning ignorance.
"You don’t want to kill Gabriel because he’s a threat to your reign. You want to kill him because he’s a product of what could have been. You simply hate him because he’s the son you never had!"
"I’m simply trying to avert the prophecy," he replied in defense.
"The prophecy?" Allicent scoffed. "What does the prophecy say? He’ll unite us, not tear us apart. How’s that a threat to you?"
Azazel’s hand gripped the edge of his seat, his jaw ticking. He inhaled sharply before sighing in defeat.
"Do you know how empty this place has been since you left? The void in my heart I’ve been trying to fill all these years. Women I’ve slept with trying to get over you. But to get over a mate, now that’s impossible!"
"And to accept the fact that she was taken away from you by your enemy, fell into his embrace and chose him over you? Do you think I could possibly forget that?" He asked, rising to his feet.
"Do you think I could possibly forgive you for what you did? As if that was not enough, the prophecy decides to throw your halfblood son in my way. You think I’ll be all smiles, welcoming him to my embrace?"
Allicent could now feel his aura suppressing over her. She took a step back but with just a flick of his finger, chains emerged from the floor and held her in position. She tried to teleport but her power proved useless under his confines.
Azazel hovered from his seat and stood before Allicent, his emerald eyes glowing with hatred.
"Coming back was the last thing you should have thought," he whispered between his teeth.
