70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 369: Considerate Man
Turning over to the other side, he originally had high hopes for that person, but now he felt a bit disheartened and thought his perception might be off, always attracting those with ulterior motives.
The next day after breakfast, Professor Song and Professor Jian went to the university laboratory, leaving Xu Mumu and Yin Yang at home.
Yin Yang brought Xu Mumu to the small courtyard next door, which had been completely rebuilt. The courtyard was very spacious and had been transformed into a laboratory, equipped with various materials and experimental equipment.
"Satisfied? Is there anything else you need? I can ask Yun Hong to get it," Yin Yang said gently.
"For now, it’s enough. I’ll let you know if I need anything," Xu Mumu was quite pleased. Yin Yang was truly considerate. She needed a quiet place, and she’d seen these experimental tools at school. Although not as advanced as those in the future, they were adequate for now.
"Okay." Yin Yang nodded with a smile. He had made a rough list of the materials himself and had Zhou Yunhong purchase them. Seeing that Xu Mumu could make use of these things, he was naturally happy.
Xu Mumu spent the entire morning in the laboratory. She was familiar with the structure of air conditioners, which had been invented in the early 20th century. It was no big deal for her to make one; it’s just that air conditioning hadn’t become popular in the country yet, and probably not many people could afford it now.
Once she made it, she planned to use it herself first, and then, when ready for business, she would either let Yin Yang sell the technology or, if he didn’t want to, sell it to Huo Qingze, who would surely be interested.
Seeing Xu Mumu working in the courtyard every day on her air conditioner, even Professor Song got quite interested. With his guidance on things Xu Mumu didn’t understand, they made faster progress together.
However, by the start of the school term, they were still not finished.
Seeing Xu Mumu spending every day in the lab, Yin Yang somewhat regretted setting up the laboratory; having one experiment-obsessed grandfather at home was enough, and now there was another one.
If he didn’t have a lot of work to do himself, he would have been quite resentful.
"Mumu, let me carry your bag," Yin Yang said as he took Xu Mumu’s bag, and they headed towards the school.
There were many new students at the school this year, and Xu Mumu noticed some from her class were welcoming the newcomers.
Xu Mumu didn’t like doing such things, so she didn’t join in the fun.
In the classroom, Xu Mumu found a quiet spot to sit down. Su Yue’e wanted her to sit next to her, but Xu Mumu refused. She did not like Su Yue’e and did not wish to befriend her further.
Su Yue’e frowned slightly but didn’t say much. There were still those same girls in the classroom, and it seemed they had enjoyed their summer break.
After the teacher arrived, a few boys who came along with him distributed the books.
Xu Mumu received a new book and briefly flipped through it. The content, she had learned before, not only in her past life but also from the materials Professor Song had given her. For things she didn’t understand, she would search for answers on her own.
Raising her eyebrows slightly, she packed the book away. Understanding these things proved very beneficial, giving her more time to work on her air conditioner.
The weather was getting hotter, and it looked like it was about to rain, making the need to build an air conditioner even more pressing for Xu Mumu.
Speaking of rain, before class was dismissed, it had begun to drizzle outside. Xu Mumu looked at the sky, realizing she hadn’t brought an umbrella.
Just as she was about to brave the rain to find Yin Yang, he approached with an open umbrella.
"Where did you get the umbrella?" Xu Mumu asked curiously. He hadn’t taken one when they left, and there were no folding umbrellas that could be placed in his bag at that time.
Speaking of folding umbrellas, this was actually quite simple. With Huo Qingze’s stall in the Imperial City, maybe she could give him the design to produce them. It didn’t require much technical skill, and initially, they could sell it as a novelty, surely prompting quick imitation.
"Yun Hong brought it over last class. He guessed it would rain and came prepared, and sure enough, it did," Yin Yang said with a smile. Zhou Yunhong was always accurate with weather predictions, and the umbrella arrived not long before the raindrops began to fall.
"How wonderful it is to have an umbrella so we don’t have to get soaked going back. He’s so considerate; you should give him a raise," Xu Mumu said with a smile, comfortably staying under the umbrella beside Yin Yang, while other girls in the class looked on enviously as they headed out of the school gates.
"By the way, what about Sir Song and Sir Jian? They should still be in the lab and office now, right?" Xu Mumu asked Yin Yang.
"Don’t worry, he delivered to them too," Yin Yang said with a smile, tilting the umbrella closer to Xu Mumu as the wind picked up and rain started to come sideways.
"That’s good," Xu Mumu nodded, relieved. Zhou Yunhong indeed did things meticulously. The umbrella he delivered to Yin Yang was big enough to cover two people, which was intentional. They were almost like a married couple and sharing an umbrella was much more harmonious than each having one. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Back home, Yin Yang’s clothes were a bit damp. Xu Mumu frowned slightly; she hadn’t noticed, having engaged him in conversation all the way and overlooking how he had moved the umbrella towards her.
"What a fool you are, don’t ever do that again," Xu Mumu said, wiping Yin Yang’s face with a dry towel, then sending him to take a hot shower to avoid catching a cold. Good health was more important than anything, a lesson she’d learned during half a year in a post-apocalyptic world.
Though she chided Yin Yang, Xu Mumu was genuinely touched. Yin Yang was very attentive, and she appreciated that. Who wouldn’t want the man they like to be considerate and place them in the most important position in their heart?
In the kitchen, the aroma of chicken soup gradually filled the air. It was a rooster Zhou Yunhong had brought from the black market yesterday. In the morning, before Xu Mumu and the others left, Mrs. Liu had started cooking it, and by now, it had been simmering all morning, smelling delicious.
Mrs. Liu took the dried mushrooms that Xu Mumu brought, soaked them, and added them to the pot. They would be ready to eat once Professor Song and the others returned.
"Mrs. Liu, the chicken soup you made smells wonderful," Xu Mumu remarked, taking deep breaths of the aroma and feeling a bit sentimental. During her time away, she had truly missed Mrs. Liu’s cooking.
"Then you must eat more later. You’ve lost quite a bit of weight during your time away," Mrs. Liu said with a warm smile. Her own children were also in school, and each time they came home, she would prepare lots of good food for them.
