70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 110: Confronting Song Jiayan
A few people were stunned, looking at the wild boar that had fallen in front of Xu Mumu. Xu Mumu was busy cleaning her machete with the grass on the ground.
"Mumu, how are you so strong?" Zhao Lidong walked over, looking at the big wild boar. He still felt a bit weak-legged. Initially, they were all very excited to see the wild boar, but didn’t expect it to be so fierce. They couldn’t handle it at all.
It felt like the wild boar that Xu Mumu killed wasn’t the same one that had been chasing them earlier.
"I just have a bit more strength, that’s all." Xu Mumu smiled lightly.
"This is so big." Zhao Lidong’s face stiffened as he looked at Xu Mumu in disbelief.
"Lidong, can you guys help me carry this boar back? I’ll give each of you five pounds of meat." Xu Mumu smiled at the group. With free labor available, she didn’t want to go back to call for help. She wasn’t comfortable leaving the wild boar up on the mountain.
"Really?" Another man, Tian Dabao, looked at Xu Mumu. Although they wanted to eat meat, they felt they couldn’t ask for it.
"Of course." Xu Mumu nodded.
"We were the ones who spotted the wild boar first; we should get a share anyway." Song Jiayan looked dissatisfied at Xu Mumu. She wanted to eat meat, but every time she used a meat ticket, it wasn’t available.
"Haha, but I was the one who killed it. Do you think you could have dodged the wild boar’s tusks without me?" Xu Mumu sneered. Was Song Jiayan blind to the situation?
"You, you’re so strong, why can’t you help us a bit? Why are you so selfish?" Song Jiayan’s face turned red; she just wanted to oppose Xu Mumu.
"Yes, I am selfish. Lidong and the others are helping me carry the boar back, so it’s right for me to share the meat with them. What about you? You did nothing and still want a share? That’s wishful thinking." Xu Mumu mocked.
"Humph, it’s just a bit of meat. You guys take it so seriously, humph." Seeing Xu Mumu’s mocking expression, Song Jiayan felt very displeased. However, seeing Xu Mumu’s efficiency in killing the wild boar earlier, she was intimidated.
Ignoring Song Jiayan, Xu Mumu, with Zhao Lidong and a few others helping, followed them down the mountain.
"Mumu, could I trade some of my grains for more meat from your family?" Zhao Lidong asked eagerly while carrying the wild boar.
Zhao Lidong’s words made the others feel tempted, and they all looked expectantly at Xu Mumu.
"Sure, just follow market price." Xu Mumu was momentarily surprised but nodded. Zhao Lidong’s family was pretty well-off, having just gotten married last year.
"Mumu, we also want to trade for more." The others spoke up shyly.
"Sure." Xu Mumu nodded. The grain in her house wasn’t much. With her parents too lazy to earn full work points, their year-end grain distribution wouldn’t be much. Better to save up more grains early.
As the group was carrying the wild boar back, the brigade was just finishing work, and everyone was heading home for dinner. Seeing Zhao Lidong and the others bringing back a wild boar, the villagers were shocked and gathered around.
No need for Xu Mumu to talk. The young men enthusiastically shared her heroic feat.
Xu Mumu’s boldness shocked many, with some even a bit envious, thinking she just got lucky.
Even Zhao Guodong was drawn, and when he came over, he saw Zhao Lidong and the others putting the wild boar on the ground, letting people gather around to look.
"Mumu, did you really kill this?" Zhao Qing asked while swallowing hard as he came with Zhao Guodong. Xu Mumu was still as fierce as ever.
"Yes, you know I am strong." Xu Mumu smiled.
"I still feel like I’m dreaming." Zhao Qing looked at Xu Mumu. Her fierceness was hard for him to accept.
"Want to come to my place to watch the slaughter? Ask your dad if he wants to buy some meat; he can trade for coarse grains." Xu Mumu whispered.
"Can I?" Zhao Qing paused, looking at Xu Mumu. Honestly, he was very tempted.
"Of course. Aren’t we friends?" Xu Mumu smiled. She didn’t tell everyone else because not everyone could afford to eat, and some had surplus grains. If everyone knew, the wild boar wouldn’t be enough to share.
Yin Yang arrived and saw the two whispering to each other.
Seeing them together, Yin Yang frowned slightly.
"Yin Zhiqing, why are you here?" Xu Mumu saw Yin Yang walking towards her, feeling the resentful gaze from Song Jiayan not far away, and raised an eyebrow.
"Is Mr. Xu not welcoming?" Yin Zhiqing looked at Xu Mumu. Unlike others who doubted her, he believed Xu Mumu really took down the wild boar.
"How could I not welcome you?" Xu Mumu smiled.
"Mr. Xu, may we chat?" Yin Yang gazed at Xu Mumu, glancing at Zhao Qing next to her. The two standing together seemed so mismatched, even a bit irritating.
"Sure." Xu Mumu nodded, and they moved aside.
"Mr. Xu, you’re getting more skilled; you can even hunt wild boar." Yin Yang warmly looked at Xu Mumu, who was still carrying her basket with a rabbit inside. She didn’t bother hiding it; compared to the wild boar, it was no big deal.
"Just lucky." Xu Mumu raised an eyebrow.
"Huo Qingze and I would like to buy some meat with money and meat tickets, is that okay?" Yin Yang looked at Xu Mumu, closely observing her. Her features were modestly elegant, with bright, expressive eyes.
"Sure, come over this afternoon when we’ve finished processing the boar. We’re friends, so I can give you a discount." Xu Mumu laughed. Compared to coarse grains, meat tickets were more valuable, and her family was out of them.
"Thank you so much." Yin Yang also smiled.
Xu Mumu quietly averted her gaze. No wonder he always attracted trouble; his smile made her heartbeat quicken.
After greeting Yin Yang, Xu Mumu beckoned Zhao Lidong and the others to help carry the wild boar home. Her family was already gathered, excited at the sight of the big boar.
When Xu Mumu and the group arrived at the Old Xu Family’s, Madam Chen was already boiling water, and the whole family was busy.
The courtyard of the Old Xu Family was crowded with onlookers, many running over to join the fun.
No need for Xu Mumu to say anything; Zhao Lidong and the others didn’t mind delaying their own dinners to help process the wild boar together.
