365 Days of Rejected Proposal: CEO's Rebellious Pet-Chapter 167: Redoing the Paternity Test
Jenson closed his eyes, suppressing the turbulent emotions and wanting to pull her back to continue scolding. Just then, neon lights swept across the woman’s small face; her complexion was exceptionally pale, and there was an intense weariness between her eyebrows and eyes.
Thinking that she was pregnant and had just been frightened, Jenson raised his hand to pinch his brow and let her go.
The next day, Zinnia Lawrence woke up on the big bed in the bedroom of Sovereign Court.
She looked bewildered for a moment; her last memory was of being in the car last night.
She lowered her head. Her clothes had been changed, clean and refreshed, suggesting someone had helped her clean up.
She felt something odd about her mouth. Her lips were a bit sore, and there was a faint smell of disinfectant, as if they had been cleaned excessively and the skin had been rubbed raw.
"Madam, you’ve finally woken up? I’ve come to check on you twice already. Breakfast is ready; please hurry and have it, so Mr. Forrest can also get his meal."
Aunt Kramer pushed the door open.
"How did I get back last night?"
"Madam, don’t you remember? Mr. Forrest carried you back. He took care of you for quite a while before returning to the hospital. He didn’t let me intervene, handling everything himself. I don’t know if his wound reopened; he had no color in his face when he left..."
Listening to Aunt Kramer, Zinnia frowned, feeling a bit guilty and worried.
She thinks that no matter what, she should be more honest and trusting with Jenson Forrest.
She immediately got up, hurriedly took breakfast to the hospital.
Zinnia hesitated for a moment at the doorway to the hospital room, adjusting her emotions.
Her agitation from last night was suppressed, and she felt calmer.
She wanted to have a good talk with Jenson Forrest, to clear some things up, or else there would always be knots in her heart.
However, when she pushed the door open, she saw Jenson standing by the hospital bed, already dressed in a three-piece suit, tying his tie, evidently about to be discharged.
Jenson turned, took the food box from her hand, and set it aside, then said.
"Where is Aunt Kramer? Why not let her accompany you?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"I can handle these things; Aunt Kramer brought me here and has to return on her own. Third brother, are you being discharged? Your wound yesterday..."
Zinnia hadn’t finished speaking when Timothy Cohen also walked into the hospital room, saying.
"President, everything is ready."
Zinnia frowned, "What’s so urgent?"
"The situation with the Sterlings is hard to control. A press conference jointly hosted by Stellar and the Sterlings is scheduled for this morning, and I must attend in person."
Upon hearing it was about the Sterlings, Zinnia realized Jenson wouldn’t have any extra time for her.
She merely pursed her lips and nodded, "Oh."
"What’s wrong? Is your mood that bad? Still upset over last night’s incident?"
Jenson clearly noticed that Zinnia was different today. He frowned, feeling a headache.
This girl lied to him about being unwell, ran to the bar to party with seven or eight fresh faces, and almost got into trouble. He reprimanded her a couple of times, yet she’s the one angry now?
The man bent slightly, pinched the girl’s soft cheek, and said: "Such a spoiled little thing!"
His tone was affectionate, but Zinnia, knowing she had deceived him, couldn’t discern whether his affection was genuine or just pretense, or perhaps all an act?
She lowered her head to pick up the thermos, discreetly avoiding Jenson’s touch.
"And the breakfast, aren’t you going to eat it?"
"I’m running out of time, darling. Help me tie my tie."
He handed the tie to Zinnia, and Zinnia took it.
The man bent cooperatively, and Zinnia hesitated before accepting the tie.
Jenson’s thin lips curved slightly, his deep gaze fixed on Zinnia’s small face.
Zinnia bent down to tidy his collar before starting to tie the knot.
Today, the sunlight was lovely; the winter morning light was neither harsh nor scalding, just warm enough to feel comforting.
Zinnia recalled the last time she tied his tie, in the car outside the Civil Affairs Bureau.
At that time, she hadn’t expected to reenact such a scene.
As a wife tying a tie for her husband in the morning, sending him off.
Yet her husband never loved her; his retention and gentleness might all have other motives.
Bitterness filled Zinnia’s heart, only to suddenly be embraced by Jenson.
The man’s forehead rested against hers, then he kissed Zinnia’s lips.
From shallow to deep, he kissed tenderly and passionately, while his large hand gently caressed behind her ear.
After parting, the man’s voice was slightly hoarse as he said.
"Seventh, I’m very happy."
Jenson’s large hand gently rubbed her earlobe again and said: "Because you’ve put on those earrings again. They look good. Don’t take them off from now on."
Zinnia was slightly stunned. Yesterday after returning to Sovereign Court, she had put on the pair of gardenia flower earrings he gave her.
She had cooked and brought food to the hospital, only to overhear the bodyguards’ words.
Now she was unsure whether putting on the earrings again was superfluous...
Jenson certainly hadn’t noticed Zinnia’s emotions, and his mind seemed not to be on her. His gentleness felt perfunctory.
He soon released her, ruffled her hair, and said, "I’m leaving."
Having said that, the man turned and walked quickly toward the hospital room door. Zinnia watched his back and suddenly spoke.
"Third brother, can you come back for lunch at the family home after work?"
She hadn’t finished talking with him.
Jenson paused, turned back, and said, "So clingy? Alright, I’ll come back early to accompany you."
Zinnia smiled faintly.
Jenson leisurely walked out, with Timothy Cohen following. When they reached the elevator, Jenson carefully scrutinized his reflection in the elevator and suddenly turned to stare at Timothy Cohen.
Timothy Cohen felt puzzled under the gaze, and Jenson’s lips slightly curled.
"Secretary Cohen, you tied your tie yourself, right?"
Timothy Cohen, "?"
Jenson’s eyes showed a critical look, "It’s a bit crooked, not pretty enough."
After saying that, the man turned and was the first to step into the elevator.
Timothy Cohen hurried to catch up, feeling speechless inside.
If he wasn’t mistaken, the president used to tie his own ties too, right?
Inside the elevator, Timothy Cohen still checked his reflection in the elevator wall.
Crooked?
He thought it looked fine.
Timothy Cohen nevertheless lifted his hand to adjust it again and felt rather frustrated by the president’s relentless flaunting of their relationship.
Especially since he had recently gone through a breakup.
Being exploited physically by the capitalist, and mentally tormented too.
So inhumane.
Timothy Cohen addressed the man’s back: "President, when you left, I could see that madam didn’t seem very happy..."
Jenson turned back, "She was clearly happy."
Timothy Cohen immediately said: "Didn’t you notice that madam’s smile was rather forced when you didn’t eat the breakfast she brought?"
"Really? You’re overthinking it; focus your thoughts on work."
Timothy Cohen, "..."
How exactly did the president succeed in the pursuit of his wife!?
Is it face or power?
This damn era where looks are everything!
Secretary Cohen touched his face, deciding to buy some expensive face masks after work and use them well at night.

Zinnia simply tidied up her things and, when leaving the hospital room, saw Mandy Lowe and Simon Sutton walking toward her.
Mandy Lowe had a bouquet of flowers, while Simon Sutton was carrying some nutritional supplements.
The couple clearly saw Zinnia too and briskly walked toward her.
Seeing them, Zinnia thought of the strand of Crystal Sutton’s hair she had obtained earlier. She still needed samples from this couple to redo the paternity test.
