Chapter 930: A Deal to Save His Grandpa

Day Ninety-Nine...

After making a deal with Phantomflake, Alexander looked through the airplane’s window absentmindedly. Her last question still lingered in his mind– ’Do you love her?’

Subconsciously, he turned to his side, staring at Hanabi’s sleeping figure. The doctor made her sleep upon boarding the plane.

A deep frown appeared on his forehead as a hint of worry covered his face. He didn’t want to hurt her. But his comrade shot Hanabi while trying to protect him.

"Why do we have to end up like this?" He murmured, extending his hand to caress her face. However, he stopped midway as he hesitated.

He clenched his fist while retracting his hand, restraining himself from touching her.

It did not take long before Hanabi flinched in her seat. She slowly opened her eyes only to meet Alexander’s intense gaze. She had no idea what he was thinking right now.

"Where are we?" She asked him, looking around them.

She narrowed her eyes upon realizing they were travelling by plane.

"Where are we going?" She asked again.

"To get my grandfather," he simply replied.

Hanabi quickly sat up, attempting to leave her seat. She didn’t want to get in the way of Jane and Mr. Hiroshi’s revenge.

Seeing her reactions, Alexander quickly grabbed her. "What are you doing?"

"Just kill me now, Alexander! Don’t use me for your own agenda! Our clan leader will not comply with your demand! You are just wasting your time." Hanabi struggled to break free from his grip.

However, Alexander held her tightly. To restrain her further, he made her sit on her lap and wrapped his arms around her from behind. Hanabi’s hands were trapped by his strong grip, leaving her completely immobilized.

"Be still. That gunshot wound could start bleeding again." He scolded her, concerned about her well-being.

"You took my grandpa. So I have to get him back with your help. Don’t force me to kill you. No matter what you say, I’m not going to hurt you. Besides, Jane and I already made a deal. I’m going to send you back to them."

Hanabi slammed her eyes shut and gritted her teeth. She understood the consequences of her actions.

"If you continue to do this... I don’t know how to face Jane again. I failed her..."

Hanabi made her choice. Even though she didn’t want to harm Alexander’s grandpa, her loyalty to Jane and Mr. Hiroshi was unwavering.

"Jane will never think that way. You are more important to her than her revenge." Alexander couldn’t help but console her.

"Release me..." Hanabi demanded.

"Unless you calm down and behave," he replied, lifting his eyebrow. He knew how stubborn this woman was. She might do something reckless again.

Hanabi pursed his lips in annoyance. She didn’t have the strength to break free from his tight grip.

"Fine. Just let me go."

Hearing her reassurance, Alexander decided to release her. But to make sure she wouldn’t do anything to harm herself, he took out a pair of handcuffs and secured one of her wrists to his own.

"What the hell is this?" Hanabi complained, pointing at their wrists.

"Just simply keeping you close to me so that I can watch your every action," he replied with a smirk.

Hanabi took a deep sigh before going back to her seat. Their journey would last for five hours.

"What will you do if I need to go to the comfort room?" Hanabi asked, glaring at him.

"Of course, I’ll keep you company," he responded without hesitation.

Hanabi’s eyes widened in disbelief. "You’re crazy!"

Alexander snorted at her words. "Hmm. I’m just being cautious. Besides, I have no idea what kind of danger you might be plotting in that head of yours. What if you suddenly decide to jump out of the plane to escape me? I’m not giving you that chance— not on my watch."

He smirked again while pointing his fingers at his eyes.

Hanabi could only pout her lips while narrowing her eyes at him. In the end, she just leaned on her seat and closed her eyes. She didn’t know whether to get mad at him or not.

However, she had to admit she still felt guilty toward him. She had taken advantage of Alexander’s grandfather, who had placed his trust in her.

For that reason alone, she didn’t have the right to get mad at Alexander. She was the one who had wronged him.

Meanwhile, back at the Sparks Mansion...

Jane decided to search for her father; she hadn’t seen him since earlier that morning.

"Sis, I’m going somewhere. Once the boys arrive, just tell Nate that I went out to see our father."

"Is there something wrong, Sis?" Abigail looked at Jane worriedly. There was something off with her expression.

"Hanabi is in trouble. I need to do something." Jane replied without elaborating on Hanabi’s situation.

"Okay, Sis. I let Nathan know. You can go now and meet our Dad. I’ll make sure to entertain our visitors on your behalf."

Jane thanked Abigail before leaving the mansion. She headed straight to the place where Mr. Hiroshi was staying.

The members of the Sawada Clan, who were guarding the gate, didn’t expect Jane to arrive. Mr. Hiroshi ordered them not to let others disturb him.

"Have you seen my father? Is he here?" Jane asked them.

The guards exchanged worried glances with one another, unsure how they would respond to Jane.

"Lady Jane... the Clan Leader is dealing with something. He doesn’t want to be disturbed." One guard replied, scratching his face anxiously.

"This is urgent. Tell me where my father is. I have to talk to him." Jane said firmly.

The guards were intimidated by her cold aura, so they quickly revealed Mr. Hiroshi’s location.

"Uhmm... Clan Leader is in the Underground basement, Lady Jane."

Jane nodded as she asked for the key. The guards passed the key to her immediately.

Without wasting her time, Jane proceeded to the underground basement. In there, she saw Tatsumi, Kazuki, and Mr. Hiroshi. In front of them, an old man was bound to a chair. Mr. Hiroshi decided to torture the old man.

"Lady Jane," Tatsumi called her upon noticing her presence.

Kazuki and Mr. Hiroshi quickly turned in her direction.

"Pa... Is that Arthur Wayne? Please don’t hurt him." Jane walked toward her father, grabbing his hand that was holding a dagger.

Mr. Hiroshi looked at her in confusion. "Jane, why are you stopping me? This person was the reason why your mother died."

Jane glanced at Arthur Wayne with complicated emotions. "We can’t touch him. Alexander captured Hanabi. I made a deal with him to keep her safe."

The four men were taken aback upon hearing her words.

"My grandson... captured Hanabi... to rescue me..." Arthur uttered in surprise.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hiroshi felt disappointed by the news.

Damn it! How could this happen?!" Mr. Hiroshi growled through gritted teeth, his eyes darting between Mr. Kazuki and Tatsumi. "Explain this!"

Tatsumi bit his lower lip, anxiety tightening his chest. Mr. Hiroshi looked furious as he demanded answers.

"It’s my fault... I failed to stop her from doing something reckless. I should have taken her with me," Tatsumi admitted, his voice low with regret.

Fortunately, Jane was there to pacify her angry father. "Pa, please calm down. Let’s discuss this situation further. Please hear me out first."

Tatsumi felt relieved when Jane intervened. Mr. Hiroshi had to listen to his daughter. Arthur Wayne remained locked in the basement while Jane and others went somewhere to talk.

As they left the underground basement, Tatsumi simply approached Jane.

"Lady Jane, what happened? Have you talked to Hanabi?" He asked her curiously.

Jane sighed deeply. "I think Hanabi wanted to compensate Alexander with her life. She felt guilty for taking his grandpa away. She was determined to die in Alexander’s hand."

"But things didn’t go according to her plan. Instead of killing her, Alexander captured her in order to negotiate with me. And I am glad he did! I don’t want Hanabi to die for the sake of our revenge."

Tatsumi shook his head helplessly upon hearing that. "A typical Hanabi. She wanted to fix everything with her own hands. I hate her way of thinking! You should scold her, my Lady!"

Jane smiled and nodded. "Don’t worry. I will certainly reprimand her once I see her. I’m just waiting for Alexander’s message. They are flying here today."

"But Lady Jane... I am worried about your father. Do you think he will allow us to free Arthur Wayne?"

Jane was not able to respond. She just stayed quiet while watching her father’s figure.

"Wish me luck. I have to convince my father..."

"You can do this, my Lady. Let’s protect Hanabi!"
