National Guardian's Gone and We're Done
Chapter 279 - 278: Young Man, You Still Have a Lot to Learn
"If the Vampire Clans are the epitome of elegance, then the Werewolves are their complete opposite.
"But that’s no surprise. If they weren’t, how could they have become mortal enemies for a thousand years?"
Guerrero said with a chuckle.
"Thank you,"
Chu He responded.
This gave him a bit more understanding of the situation in the Lighthouse Empire.
He used to think that beings like Vampires and Werewolves
only existed in fantasy novels and movies.
He never expected that after the Evil Spirit invasion changed the face of Blue Star, they would actually appear in the real world.
’Or perhaps, they had always existed, and the Evil Spirit invasion was very likely orchestrated by these ancient creatures themselves.’
"Mr. Chu, there’s no need to be so polite with me.
"The Bright Holy See has always wanted to extend its friendship and goodwill to you, Mr. Chu.
"Across all of Blue Star,
"there used to be many people who pursued the ultimate power of Martial Arts, holding it as their firm belief.
"But in such a short time?
"Over ninety percent of Martial Artists have already fallen, beginning to pursue the power of Evil Spirits and merging it with their bodies and their original Martial Arts Power to achieve the fastest and strongest enhancements.
"However, the fact that Mr. Chu, the strongest person on Blue Star, can still hold fast to Martial Arts is a great encouragement to many Martial Artists who practice it.
"We hope that people like you, Mr. Chu, will engage more with our Bright Holy See,
"and we hope that one day, through our joint efforts, we can restore Blue Star to how it was before the Evil Spirit invasion. For instance, to be able to see a clear blue sky over the Black Continent Grassland again."
As he said this, Guerrero raised his head, looking at the gloomy, dark sky and sighing. He
quickly lowered his head again, looking straight at Chu He. "Alright, Mr. Chu, you’ve just gotten off the plane and had a long journey. You should go get some rest.
"This hotel is quite nice, despite being built in a place as full of evil and corruption as the Black Continent Grassland."
Chu He grunted in acknowledgment, then turned and led his people toward the hotel’s interior.
An attendant quickly came forward to guide them to their designated floor.
Perhaps the hotel was on alert. Relations between the Great Xia Empire, the Lighthouse Empire, the White Elephant Empire, the Great Jing Empire, and the White-Red Empire were extremely poor, making a large-scale conflict at the slightest provocation highly likely. For top-tier combatants from Blue Star like them, such a fight could easily level the Luxury Hotel in moments. The hotel’s management, therefore, was quite worried about this and had already made the necessary arrangements.
After Chu He and his group had left, Bishop Guerrero of the Bright Holy See remained standing in the same spot.
A smile as warm as a spring breeze was still on his face, as if even in the gloomy Black Continent Grassland, every flower and leaf, even the oppressive air, could still bring him joy.
"Lord Bishop, telling Chu He about our Lighthouse Empire... won’t that put our Lighthouse Empire at a disadvantage?"
A member of the Holy See walked up behind Guerrero and asked in a low voice.
"Did you know? Something happened recently that deeply inspired me."
Guerrero said slowly and deliberately, "And that is the former White Elephant Empire and the current Great Western Heaven.
"Why must we be so stubbornly attached to the Empire we belong to?
"Why can’t the Lighthouse Empire be our Bright Holy See?
"Why must the Bright Holy See be a part of the Lighthouse Empire?
"Those monks’ ideology is more advanced than ours.
"If we truly want to protect the people of our Lighthouse Empire, we must turn the entire Lighthouse Empire into the Bright Holy See.
"Only under the protection of the Light can these mortals live happier, safer lives.
"But beings like Vampires and Werewolves are obstacles in the path of our Bright Holy See.
"If they are not curbed, the Bright Holy See’s ambition to shelter the entire Lighthouse Empire will be a distant dream.
"There’s a saying in the Great Xia Empire: ’The enemy of my enemy is my friend.’"
At this, Guerrero reached out and patted the Holy See member’s shoulder. "Young man, you still have much to learn."
The Holy See member scratched his head, only half-understanding.
...
Ji Shengyue followed behind Xiao Cangqing back to their room.
The floors for the Great Jing Empire, the White-Red Empire, and the Lighthouse Empire were all grouped together.
This was something Xiao Cangqing had specifically requested.
Faced with Xiao Cangqing’s demand, the upper management of the Luxury Hotel naturally didn’t dare to refuse.
The moment she stepped into the spacious, top-tier suite, Xiao Cangqing spun around like lightning and viciously slapped Ji Shengyue across the face.
The heavy, powerful slap sent Ji Shengyue tumbling to the ground. Her lip split, and a trickle of blood spilled onto her lavish clothes.
Ji Shengyue’s head was ringing, her vision went black, and she saw stars.
It took her a long moment to come to her senses.
Ji Shengyue sat on the floor, clutching her face, and looked at Xiao Cangqing in confusion. "Why did you hit me?"
"What? Is Her Majesty the Queen of the Great Jing Empire trying to look all delicate and pitiful?
"Trying to win back Chu He’s heart?
"And then get Chu He to take action and become your Great Jing Empire’s National Guardian War God again?"
Xiao Cangqing sat down on the sofa and asked mockingly.
Ji Shengyue understood at once.
Xiao Cangqing had suffered a huge loss of face in front of Chu He, under everyone’s watchful eyes, and had nowhere to vent his anger, so he was taking it out on her.
She had happened to show a hint of her true feelings in front of Xiao Cangqing; the emotional turmoil of that moment had been uncontrollable, and tears had nearly spilled from her eyes.
Even though Xiao Cangqing hadn’t turned to look, he had still noticed.
"But it seems that Great Celestial Dog knew long ago about planting its seed in you, so it left a protective ward of power inside your body,"
Xiao Cangqing said with a smirk.
"I... I don’t know."
Ji Shengyue shook her head hastily, her face full of terror.
She truly didn’t know that the Great Celestial Dog had left some kind of measure inside her body.
"Get out."
Xiao Cangqing’s face immediately darkened, not because of Ji Shengyue, but because of Chu He.
He raised his hand, and a gale of blood-red wind swept Ji Shengyue up,
sending her flying out of the room. She smashed the door to pieces, leaving only most of the frame hanging on its hinges.
With a loud CRASH,
the sound drew people from the various empires out of their rooms in the Luxury Hotel to see what was happening.
After all, this hotel was on the Black Continent Grassland;
any kind of sudden incident could occur, and they couldn’t afford to be careless or incautious.
But when they saw the actual scene, looks of stunned surprise appeared on all their faces.
Because the one who had been thrown out was none other than Her Majesty the Queen of the Great Jing Empire, Ji Shengyue.
Her expensive, lavish clothes were now tattered.
