Adrian wasted no time to get the essential things that he needed for their escape plan, while he changed Camille into a clean attire, and cleaned up her messy face. Thankfully the blood he saw on her laps had nothing to do with what he initially thought it was.
She wasn’t raped, rather it was the blood from a cut at her wrist while she tugged at the chain around her wrists so she could set herself free.
He took a bag and filled it up with the money he has stacked away for a long period of time, incase if this happened. He also went to his father’s room and went through his collection of guns, and took the one he found suitable while making sure to fill it with bullets, before he entered inside his room to see Camille’s frozen face at the sight of the gun in his hand.
Heck!
She didn’t know that he had killed a guard just do he could rescue the both of them. He said nothing but placed the gun at the back of his trousers, and then took the money bag and went forward to help Camille up but she was putting up a fight with him.
"Camille, this is not the time for this. My father will be back soon, and he can’t find us here when he does. We got to leave." He told her, and went forward to grab her by her waist but she still insisted on staying put where she sat.
He didn’t understand what was wrong with her, the Camill he knew wouldn’t waste any time here, and would make sure that they leave here alive, irrespective of the danger that might come when it’s out that they aren’t here anymore. But no! The fire to fight had died in her eyes, what has his father done to her?
"I..can’t leave." She nearly choked in her words, it was hard for her to speak since she’s been having a sore throat for days, all thanks to his father for locking her up without any food or water for two days straight, just like he promised.
She nearly thought that she’s going to die, until he had walked in. But Alex’s threat was still fresh in her mind. He’s going to hurt her parents if anything happens to Adrian, that’s why she can’t leave...especially with him.
The man doesn’t want the world to know about his son’s sickness, and she’s the only one who knew that making her a potential threat to him, since he didn’t like her in the first place to begin with. Just like he said, she’s still alive because she’s the one keeping Adrian sane and behaved.
But right now she didn’t care about any of that, she’s going to leave here without him. His place is with his father, she has only being to fool to stick besides him upon knowing the sort of family he came from.
"What do you mean, Camille? We are leaving babygirl, my father would kill you if you stay here further." He rectified her on what’s important here, since it seems that having been treated like an animal for two days had messed with her senses.
"I’m not leaving with you. Adrian, he threatened to kill my parents and i can’t risk that."She managed to speak this time without any difficulty." It’s my fault for finding out about your sickness, and that’s the reason why i can’t be with you. We were never meant to be together in the first place,Adrian. Don’t you see it, we are two worlds apart."She cried.
"We can fix this, Camille. About your parents, I could have security over to protect them, but we have got to go." Adrian said, before forcing her up but she pushed his hands off her while she winced in pain when his hands connected with her bruised wrists.
It hurt him deeply seeing her like this, it made him feel less of a man for not protecting his woman, and that was the truth.
"Well i think you should do more of protecting yourself. The last time you promised me protection i was almost raped by your father, and now this... " Camille’s voice cracked as she couldn’t say anything, without remembering the torture she went through at his father’s hands.
Their love story is a toxic one, and she can’t bear to lose her parents just because of him.He still has a lot to do like maning up to his father, and keeping his ground to not be his slave rather than his son. That’s the problem here, he’s helpless when it comes to his father.
She can’t have the likes of him to protect her or her parents, when he can’t even protect himself.
"I’m leaving, Adrian. Not because i don’t love you, but because i am doing what’s right." She said only to be interrupted by him.
"What’s right is being by myself..."
"Yeah to suffer." She concluded for him.
This time around, Adrian could feel Killa’s laughter going off in his head." Until when does it have to be this way? I can’t keep fearing for my life, when there’s you but you do nothing, Adrian. You are afraid of your father!" She pointed out the most important thing here, and Killa couldn’t help but agree with Camille in this one.
Yeah, what are you going to do, lover boy?
Killa teased him.
"Babygirl, you know that’s not true..." Adrian’s voice sound shaky, until he wanted to say further only to hear a gunshot outside that made him stood alert, and grabbed Camille’s hand immediately before taking out his gun.
"W..what’s that?" Camille asked in fear, while hoping that his father isn’t back yet.
"No matter what happened, stay at my back.Camille. I will make a way through the front door, and you go with the bag when all paths are clear, you hear me. You run for it and don’t look back." Adrian told her, while he took the money bag ontop of the chair.
"What about you? He’s going to kill you when he sees am not here." Camille cried.
"I will survive, but your safety comes first, sweetheart." He said kissing her one last time, before he took her hand while they made their way out of the building.
Luckily, just like the maid Sierra had said there weren’t much guards, but why is it that it’s his father that was back at the sound of that gunshot. His father has a habit of shooting his men when he’s pissed off, so if it isn’t him, who else?
Adrian’s eyes ran across everywhere, while Camille stayed at his back just like he told her to. They managed to get outside to see three of his father’s men that were guarding the gate, wheeling in pain on the floor, while someone familiar had a gun in his hand pointing at them.
Someone who had his heart raced when their eyes connected, and he couldn’t help but wonder how on earth, he’s still alive.
"N..Nelson."
