My Apocalypse System Arrives 10 Years Early
Chapter 293 - 213: Dragon Elephant Mountain Shifting Skill and "Vajra Whip Technique
Li Xiang was indeed at home, but just over ten minutes ago, he was still on the Laotian border.
The Laotian border was only about 800 kilometers from his home. At his top speed of Mach 5, a single sprint got him home in just seven or eight minutes.
On his way back from Southeast Asia, he passed through Laos and decided to check on the white elephant, Xiaobai.
The herd was quite large and had a fixed territory. Elephants are big targets, and Li Xiang was fast, so he quickly found Xiaobai’s herd.
Xiaobai still remembered Li Xiang. Upon seeing him, it began flapping its two huge, fan-like ears and letting out a low rumble.
All the elephants in the herd remembered Li Xiang as well. The impression this two-legged creature had left on them was simply too profound; he was incredibly powerful and could effortlessly overpower them. However, Li Xiang meant them no harm and had even given them delicious Spirit Fruits, so they were all overjoyed and greeted him enthusiastically.
For a moment, countless large ears flapped nonstop, accompanied by a continuous, joyful rumbling.
Li Xiang waved and smiled back at the herd, then walked over to Xiaobai. The little elephant extended its long trunk, sniffed him, and gently touched his hand.
Xiaobai’s trunk was surprisingly soft. Li Xiang gave it a pat; it was plump and felt nice. He handed Xiaobai a Low Tier Spirit Fruit, then vaulted onto the back of its mother, the Silver-toothed Female Elephant, and gave her a Spirit Fruit as well.
As for the other elephants... well, they had all gathered around. Out of consideration for Xiaobai and its mother, Li Xiang rewarded each one with a Spirit Fruit.
He then showed special favor to Xiaobai and its mother, giving them a few extra.
’I’ll teach you a Breathing Technique. I have no idea if you’ll understand, but just follow my lead.’ Li Xiang felt a headache coming on. Since he couldn’t speak "animal," teaching them was going to be a real pain.
He mused, ’This is probably one of the reasons the pets back home are so slow with their Cultivation.’ Generally, those with decent talent reached the First Tier—condensing their first Spiritual Power Vortex—relatively quickly.
’It gets progressively harder and takes longer after that. Many people get stuck at the First and Second Tiers for their entire lives. Only a freak of nature like Luo Feifei could reach Tier Eighteen in just three years.’
’But with my system, and the help of massive amounts of Spiritual Medicine and Achievement Points, I can probably do it too.’ 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Even though the language barrier made it difficult, Li Xiang figured that every journey begins with a single step. As long as Xiaobai and its mother got the hang of Cultivation, communication might become easier. And as High Tier Potential Exotic Beasts, they should be able to figure out the path of cultivation on their own.
After all, the cultivation methods for animals were vastly different from those for humans. Li Xiang could only teach them the basics. It was just as the saying goes: the master opens the door, but the student must walk the path alone.
It wasn’t that Li Xiang didn’t want to teach them more; he simply couldn’t.
Li Xiang currently had over 300,000 Achievement Points. He spent a little over 50,000 to redeem a Cultivation Technique suitable for the Elephant Race: the Dragon Elephant Mountain Shifting Skill. He selected the simplest introductory section and attempted to teach it.
He then noticed it also contained a Martial Arts technique called the Vajra Whip Technique.
An elephant’s trunk is like a thick whip. Once mastered, the trunk would be as hard as vajra—indestructible. Even the most solid rock would shatter with a single strike.
Li Xiang didn’t have a trunk, so he found a sturdy vine to use for his demonstration. After many "patient" repetitions, Xiaobai and its mother finally learned the first three forms to a passable degree.
The other elephants tried to learn as well, but they were comparatively clumsy. Most only managed to learn the first form, and many of them merely mimicked the shape without harnessing any of its true power.
’Practice hard and don’t be lazy. I’ll come see you again when I have time.’ After rewarding them with a few more Tier One Spirit Fruits, Li Xiang departed, heading north.
He deliberately slowed his departure, making it clear to the elephant herd that he came from the north.
’I wonder if they understood what I was trying to tell them.’
After arriving home, Li Xiang took stock of his warehouse. He had gathered a considerable amount of goods over the past few days, filling just under 800,000 cubic meters. Including the 200,000-plus cubic meters he already had, he had used up about half his storage.
He still had about a million cubic meters of enormous space left.
Even so, it was an immense quantity of supplies.
The main reasons he hadn’t filled it were a lack of time and the concern that plundering too much at once might attract unnecessary trouble.
He had a good handle on the right pace, planning to take a slow and steady approach. Besides, he wanted to visit other countries. ’The world is a big place; I should take the opportunity to see its sights before the Apocalypse, right?’
He still had nine years, which was more than enough time to gather supplies.
As for Thai Fragrant Rice, he had only collected 500,000 tons this time, mainly because he had no interest in old rice. Even last year’s harvest didn’t meet his standards.
’If I’m going to store rice, it has to be freshly harvested within the last three months.’
This year’s new crop of fragrant rice in Thailand wouldn’t be harvested until November or December, though some regions began as early as October. This period coincided with the dry season on the Indochina Peninsula, when reduced rainfall and abundant sunshine made it the perfect season for the rice to mature and be harvested.
Li Xiang planned to wait for the new rice to become available before plundering it in massive quantities.
’Old rice could never taste as good as a fresh harvest, could it?’
His system’s warehouse had a "preservation" feature. Fresh rice went in, and fresh rice came out. This meant that even if it were stored for decades, he would still be able to eat fresh rice every day during the Apocalypse.
"These sticks are amazing! Brother Xiang is so thoughtful, getting us such high-quality vine sticks!" Lei Jiaming said as he led his men to move the vine sticks, which were sourced from the rainforests of Indonesia. Many of his men loved them so much they couldn’t bear to put them down.
A few of the women came over to pick some out as well. They chose the ones with a smaller diameter, while the men preferred the thicker ones.
But whether thick or thin, the quality was superb. They could bend a full 180 degrees, possessed astonishing elasticity, and were incredibly sturdy, dense, and heavy.
In an open area of the resort, Lei Jiaming’s hands were itching for a fight. He sparred with many of the security guards, none of whom could last more than five moves against him.
"Hey, sis, how about we have a round? I promise I’ll go easy on you." Lei Jiaming then set his sights on his younger sister, Lei Xiaohui.
Lei Xiaohui pursed her lips. "You think I need you to go easy on me? It’s more like I should be going easy on you."
Lei Jiaming didn’t believe her. ’What you’re capable of? How would I not know? I’m the one who taught you everything you know!’
Seeing the two siblings were about to duel, the others started cheering and clapping, waiting eagerly to see what would happen.
And so, the brother and sister began their spar.
The moment they began, Lei Jiaming was already cursing inwardly. ’How is my sister’s staff technique so sharp?’ Despite her being a girl, every one of her moves was incomparably fierce, powerful, and heavy.
In less than ten moves, Lei Xiaohui sent his vine stick flying and knocked him to the ground with a single blow.
Everyone cheered and jeered. Lei Jiaming, unable to hide his embarrassment, complained, "Sis, did you have to be so ruthless? You nearly broke my back!"
Lei Xiaohui laughed. "You should practice more. Don’t walk around all day with that cocky attitude, thinking you’re invincible."
Lei Jiaming scrambled up, rubbing his head and nodding repeatedly. In the past, he truly believed he was the unbeatable champion of the entire region. Then Li Xiang appeared out of nowhere, and he figured that while he couldn’t match Li Xiang, he was at least number two.
Well, this was just great. Now even his own sister was stronger than him. He’d have to drop another spot in the rankings and settle for being number three.
Little did he know that Lei Xiaohui had actually gone easy on him. If she had used her full strength, she could have taken him down in a single move.
This was because Lei Xiaohui had already condensed her first Spiritual Power Vortex, officially becoming a Tier One Transcendent.
At the same time, Zhao Xueqing had also condensed her first Spiritual Power Vortex, right around the same time as Xiaohui.
If one were to actually rank everyone in their hometown group, Li Xiang was naturally number one. Second, without a doubt, was Jiang Cai’Er. Third, fourth, and fifth would be Yao Yao, Lei Xiaohui, and Zhao Xueqing. Although the three girls had advanced at slightly different times, their actual combat prowess hadn’t been tested against each other, so it was unclear who was the strongest. At best, Lei Jiaming would rank sixth.
If one were to include Luo Feifei and all the powerful pets, Lei Jiaming’s rank would drop even further.
’Looks like I’ll have to ask Brother Xiang for more pointers from now on. My sister was with Brother Xiang for a while, and I just thought she was selling bubble tea and livestreaming. I never expected her Martial Arts to improve this much.’ Lei Jiaming secretly swore to catch up and surpass them, and to learn from Li Xiang with an open mind.
Seeing his men winking and trying to stifle their laughter, Lei Jiaming couldn’t help but bark, "What are you laughing at? So what if I can’t beat my sister? I’m still stronger than any of you! Now get back to training!"
