Chapter 247: Chapter 245: As Long as You Live in His Heart, You’re the Winner (13)

She was waiting for the day they hit rock bottom, the day she would finally put an end to her own foolishness.

She got into her Porsche, took out her phone again, and called Marlon Marshall. "Honey, I’m coming to pick you up from the university."

Marlon slammed on the brakes when he heard her.

"Just wait for me at home. I’ll be back soon."

"But I’m almost at the university already. That’s that. Bye-bye."

She quickly hung up and drove toward the university.

Marlon tossed his phone aside and said to Carol Young in the passenger seat, "Get out. I have to turn around. My wife is heading to the university gate."

"It’s fine, just take me with you. We can say we ran into each other by chance."

"No! Get out!"

Carol Young had no choice but to reluctantly get out of the car, looking thoroughly resentful.

Watching Marlon’s car drive away, she grew irritated. With a sudden resolve, she hailed a taxi and followed him.

When Jean Grant arrived, she saw Marlon Marshall standing at the university gate, just as she’d expected. She stopped the car, opened the door, and got out.

"Over here!" she called, waving. The smile on her face betrayed nothing unusual.

Marlon jogged over to her. In the glow of the streetlight, Jean Grant noticed his face looked drained, wearing a somewhat weary expression.

"You should have just waited for me at home."

"If I wait for you at home, do you ever come back early?" Jean Grant’s words made him feel a pang of guilt.

"Alright, let’s go home now."

Jean Grant nodded. Just then, she looked past Marlon and saw Carol Young walking toward them with a wide smile.

Carol Young bore a slight resemblance to her sister, Charlotte Young, especially in the flirtatious charm around her eyes.

She didn’t move, so Marlon asked, "Let’s go."

"Isn’t that your classmate? I think I saw her at the KTV once," Jean Grant said, pointing behind him.

Marlon turned around nervously and, sure enough, saw Carol Young walking right up to them.

"What a coincidence, Miss Grant. How many months pregnant are you?"

Jean Grant answered calmly, "A little over four months now."

"So you’ll be giving birth in another four or five months, right? Is it a boy or a girl?"

She smiled faintly. "A boy."

Marlon’s face lit up with pleasant surprise. "Jean, you had another check-up?"

"I did. This time, they confirmed it’s a boy."

Carol Young’s expression turned as ugly as it could be.

Jean Grant smiled. "Miss Young, I knew your sister. She was to be my sister-in-law, though it’s such a pity... Since we’ve run into each other, why don’t you come over to our place?"

Carol Young’s eyes lit up with surprise, and she immediately and happily agreed. "Okay!"

Marlon, however, was clearly uncomfortable but said nothing.

And so, Marlon drove off first, while Jean Grant followed behind in her car with Carol Young.

They drove all the way back to the upscale residential community.

No one knew what Jean Grant was truly planning.

After getting out of the car and standing at the front door, Carol Young was overjoyed, looking at the multi-million-yuan villa as if it were already hers.

"It’s so luxurious."

Jean Grant just smiled without a word and walked through the main gate.

Entering the living room, Marlon instructed, "Housekeeper, we have a guest. Serve some tea."

The housekeeper already harbored resentment toward this mother and son, but she didn’t dare say anything and immediately served the tea.

Carol Young held her tea and gazed around the room.

’Living in a house like this must be absolute bliss,’ she thought.

"Miss Grant, your home is so beautiful. The renovations alone must have cost a fortune, right?"

Jean Grant didn’t speak, but Marlon jumped in first. "The renovations cost several million."

Carol Young was incredibly excited. "This is my first time in a house like this! Miss Grant, can I go up and see your bedroom?"

Jean Grant replied immediately, "Why not? I’ll take you up."

The two went upstairs. When they pushed open the bedroom door, Carol Young felt an instant love for the place.

She looked here and there, at the balcony, and at the bathroom.

"Your bathroom is bigger than my bedroom!"

Jean Grant replied meaningfully, "If you work hard, you can have anything."

Carol Young didn’t catch the hidden meaning in her words and agreed. "Yes, if you work hard, you can have anything."

Then she added, "Really, I love it here so much. I don’t want to leave."

"That’s fine. If you don’t want to leave, you can just stay here," Jean Grant said with a reserved smile, thinking of her hidden cameras.

Carol Young instantly thought to herself that this Jean Grant was as dumb as a rock.

She even marveled at her own cleverness.

Little did she know, Jean Grant had already seen through her petty schemes completely. She had her reasons for doing this.

’My heart is no longer in it. Even if my husband brings home eight or ten mistresses, I don’t care anymore.’

’The mistakes of youth always have a price.’

Each of the two women was lost in her own thoughts.

When Marlon heard that Jean Grant wanted Carol Young to stay, he was a little confused.

Jean Grant linked her arm with his. "Her sister died in my home. Naturally, I feel a bit guilty toward her. What’s the harm in letting her stay?"

Marlon was immediately full of praise. "Honey, you’re such a good woman."

Jean Grant lowered her head with a shy smile, but deep down, her eyes were completely empty.

「That night」

The couple lay in bed together. Marlon tried to touch her, but Jean Grant refused, saying her stomach was uncomfortable.

Feeling inevitably disappointed, Marlon could only pretend to fall asleep.

Jean Grant pretended to be asleep as well.

At that moment, they were sharing the same bed but dreaming different dreams.

About half an hour later.

Marlon called out softly, "Honey, are you asleep?"

Jean Grant didn’t answer.

Marlon checked on her, then quietly lifted the covers and got out of bed.

The moment the door closed, Jean Grant immediately sat up.

She picked up the laptop she had already placed inside the nightstand.

She turned on a lamp, and the computer started up. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Jean Grant clicked open the surveillance feed. More than a dozen camera views appeared on the screen, showing the various guest rooms.

She hadn’t expected the cameras she had suddenly installed that day to become useful so soon.

Her eyes landed on one of the feeds, and she couldn’t look away.

She enabled the recording function for that feed, then made it full-screen.

Because the camera was installed not far from the bed, she could see their faces clearly.

Jean Grant sat there, and when it was over, she saved the video directly to her email and encrypted it.

Only then did she shut down the computer and put it away.

She turned off the lamp again and lay back down.

When he finally returned, slipped back into bed, and lay down beside her, she realized at that moment that the person sleeping next to her was no longer her husband, but an utterly disgusting man.

Once he was fast asleep, she glanced at her watch. It was 12:30 AM.

She threw on some clothes.

And went downstairs.

She walked out the front door.

She took out her phone and dialed Ethan Ellsworth.

The call went unanswered, and it wasn’t until the tenth time she dialed that someone finally picked up.

"Hello?" It was Chloe Marshall’s voice.

"Why are you answering? Where’s Ethan Ellsworth?"

Chloe Marshall replied, "Boss Ellsworth is taking off his makeup. Please wait a moment."

She walked over to Ethan Ellsworth with the phone. "It’s a call from Jean."

Ethan Ellsworth grunted and held out his hand. "Give it to me."
