Chapter 2259: Chapter 2235: Perfect Performance

Seeing Cui Bo’s action, Andy He immediately left the audience seated waving a huge French flag.

Andy He acted like an overly excited spectator, waving an especially gigantic flag, but since he’d left the audience seating, he wouldn’t block anyone’s view, thus no one maintaining order stopped him.

Who would prevent a passionate patriot from expressing their love for their country without affecting others? It’s something everyone is happy to see, isn’t it?

Andy He’s position was very subtle; he was situated right between the spot Gao Yang aimed to shoot and Mario.

Mario’s spot was excellent, seated on a tiered stand, meaning the further back, the higher it gets. Andy He couldn’t hold the flag behind him nor move all the way to the back, as he and the flag would be obscured, so he was in-between Gao Yang’s shooting position and Mario.

On a triangular path, as long as Gao Yang saw Andy He with the flag, all he needed to do was follow Andy He and then look up to find Mario whom Andy He’s flagpole pointed at — it was that simple.

Andy He served as a reference for Gao Yang, though it didn’t necessarily guarantee success in signaling, so if Andy was successful, great. If Andy couldn’t guide or was driven away, there’s nothing that could be done.

The preparations for the operation were very smooth; now, all that was left was for Tarta to give Gao Yang the signal to shoot.

However, Tarta consistently couldn’t provide Gao Yang with a shootable signal.

Mario was seated in the middle of the tiered rows of seats, four rows behind the Prime Minister of Italy — a very good audience position.

The problem was that the height difference of tiered viewers wasn’t significant; Mario’s seating behind only revealed his head, not affecting his view, nor television coverage, but affecting Gao Yang’s shooting.

Especially unfortunate, Mario wasn’t tall, but there was a tall person directly in between Mario and Gao Yang, completely shielding Mario from Andy He and Gao Yang’s direction.

All along, Gao Yang prepared to shoot at a target with only head size, but not seeing even that head left him helpless, unless he moved from the fortress, changed the predetermined shooting spot, and shot after the airborne attack.

Discerning a head from different colored heads over four hundred meters was incredibly hard, now Gao Yang needed to change positions, find a gap, and then shoot at an unseen head, described as harder than ascending to heaven.

Those guiding the target for Gao Yang were quick to identify this issue, preventing them from issuing the shooting order.

Vasily leaned close to Yarebin, whispering, "Can’t shoot, someone blocked it."

Yarebin slightly tilted his head, whispering, "Shooting someone in the crowd is inherently too difficult. Since it’s blocked, let Mario stand up; notify Justin it’s his turn to go."

Vasily returned to his seat, but this time he didn’t wave the small flag and instead dialed a phone call.

Justin answered the call, listening briefly before hanging up, whispering, "Still have to step in; I knew it."

Justin rose, left the audience, and walked to a place where Vasily and Yarebin could see him, stopping there.

Yarebin saw Justin and whispered, "Issue command, target will stand."

Vasily shook the flag several times, and upon seeing it, Tarta whispered, "Prepare, target will stand."

Jansen ceased playing music and raised a hand to touch his hat.

Gao Yang saw Jansen’s gesture but couldn’t indicate he noticed — though he put down his binoculars, raised his rifle, and continued observing Jansen through the rifle’s scope.

It’s been fifteen minutes since the recreation of the war.

Yarebin checked his watch, remaining unperturbedly watching the performance, while people playing British troops on the beach had been held up for a while, advancing again.

War reenactments need a pace, and can’t rush simply because the opponent’s firing blanks.

Finally, Yarebin gently nodded, and Vasily immediately waved at Justin.

Justin adjusted his clothes, touched his bandaged neck, and began walking forward.

Vasily held four flags up, swaying them back and forth.

Tarta raised his right hand, holding a gun. Jansen started walking, prompting the British troops firing blanks and sporadically simulating deaths on the beach to stand and advance, causing American and Canadian forces to also advance.

The German machine guns inside the fortress fired more aggressively.

Justin walked diagonally in front of the dignitaries’ stands and was unsurprisingly stopped upon nearing the restricted area.

Hammer was fussing with his cane, glancing backward occasionally.

Justin was stopped, raising his hands, with those maintaining order talking. His gaze consistently focused on the stand where Italians gathered.

Justin hoped to catch Mario’s attention and thus planned to create a bigger scene; he pulled out his credentials, loudly addressing the French person stopping him: "Check my invitation, I’m a guest! Guest! I’m just trying to go across here."

A French gendarme shoved Justin around; just as Justin was about to be dragged away, he finally saw Mario turn to face him.

Planes flew overhead; some parachuted down, with parachutes opening into blooms.

A German striving for realism shouted, "Airborne soldiers! Behind us!"

Seeing the parachuting scene, Mario noticed a commotion at his side in an originally unseen position, with a slight dispute drawing his attention. He almost immediately locked eyes with Justin.

With a sinister smile, Justin promptly lowered his head and walked as directed by the pushing gendarme.

Mario was utterly shocked and confirmed he couldn’t be wrong, so instinctively he stood up, watching Justin keenly.

Hammer vigorously jabbed his cane through a foldable chair gap, piercing forward, making a bearded man jump, shouting angrily while turning to cover his buttocks.

Jansen suddenly clutched his chest, falling to the side.

Gao Yang swiftly swung his rifle, turned, and dashed toward the fortress entrance, shouting, "I’ll deal with the airborne!"

Gao Yang crouched at the gate, immediately spotting Andy He with the flag, following it to see the standing man through his scope.

Gao Yang fired.

Gao Yang leapt up, gesturing to his companions to advance, deal with the airborne soldiers behind.

Mario suddenly shuddered and heavily sat back in his chair.

Justin was forcibly led away by the gendarmes.

Hammer wielded his cane viciously yet slowly stabs towards the audience before him, but the angry viewer turned and snatched his cane.

A crisp gunshot sounded beside Hammer, who then screamed fiercely, "He has a gun! He fired!"
