Chapter 90: Alone [5]

Six hours since the test had started.

Asher looked at his bracelet, sighed, and muttered, "These guys just won’t learn their lesson, will they? Why are they together again like last time? Even after losing, they’re still trying to team up against me. There are even more people with them than last time, even that stalker is with them. What did I even do to offend her?"

Asher was talking about the top ten students from both academies. Most of them had been moving in the same direction and were now gathered together.

And poor malfunctioning AC had already been eliminated by the others.

Only Aria remained visible on the map, desperately trying to escape from the others, but even she would eventually be eliminated.

In the last six hours, 116 students had already been eliminated, and 76 of them had been eliminated by Asher alone. Even though most of them were from Class A and were not particularly strong, so it didn’t take much time to defeat them, it was still exhausting even for Asher, who had a higher mana recovery rate than most people.

Only now had he finally stopped being chased after hunting down every student in the nearby areas.

The exam site, a vast forest region, had already begun shrinking, but Asher was still in one of the inner sections, so there was no need to worry about it for at least another day.

Asher stood in a slightly open field within the forest.

Then he summoned a bed, a gaming chair, an entire gaming PC setup, a freaking freezer, a cooler, and even a power source to operate them all.

Looking around, Asher said, "It feels like I’m playing Minecraft and just built my first home—no walls, just a crafting table and a furnace."

He then took out some chilled juice from the freezer, grabbed a few snacks, spent some time gaming, and eventually went to sleep.

Of course, he wasn’t sleeping without a care in the world. He could be attacked at any time, but it was highly unlikely. He had already eliminated most of the students, and the top-ranked students were all gathered on the opposite side of the forest as if they were deliberately avoiding him.

Meanwhile, in the supervising room...

Aelar stared at the screen showing the sleeping Asher and muttered in a tone full of disbelief,

"I don’t understand which part I should be more surprised about—that he eliminated seventy-six students in six hours and didn’t even need ten minutes to defeat any group he encountered, despite all of them being weaker than him individually..."

He paused before continuing,

"Or should I be more surprised that he’s now sleeping on a bed in the middle of an exam with an entire gaming setup beside him?"

He rubbed his forehead.

"How can a kid like him even exist? Is there a single word capable of describing someone like him?"

Walter, who was also watching the screen displaying Asher, looked at Aelar and replied,

"I don’t know if there is such a word. I just call him insane and crazy."

Walter then stood up and said,

"There won’t be any fights anytime soon, so just call me when the final battle of the test begins. It should be fun to watch."

The next moment, Walter vanished.

After an entire day had passed...

Asher had already begun moving toward the center.

Thankfully, during the last day, only ten people had tried to attack him, and all of them had been eliminated.

Now, only forty-four people remained in the entire test.

Aria had already been eliminated, and most of the remaining participants were either those traveling in a group with Celestine and Roselia or a few lucky low-ranked students who had somehow avoided facing strong opponents.

Asher continued moving toward the center of the forest when he suddenly sensed someone’s presence ahead of him.

The other person sensed him as well.

Asher headed toward the source of the presence and soon found Kevin Viremont, the youngest son of Duke Viremont.

Asher calmly looked at Kevin.

Kevin calmly looked back at Asher.

A little while earlier...

Kevin had just finished a difficult battle and eliminated his opponent. It had been a troublesome fight since there were no corpses nearby for him to use. He did have corpses stored within his subspace, but using them during the test was prohibited.

Then he sensed someone approaching.

Kevin sighed and muttered,

"I just finished a fight. I really don’t want another one right now."

He turned toward the direction from which the presence was approaching.

The moment he saw who it was, his expression remained calm on the outside, but inwardly he cursed his fate.

"For fuck’s sake. Out of all the people I could run into, it had to be this insane bastard—the one person I’ve been trying my hardest to avoid."

He looked calmly at Asher and thought,

"Should I just run away?"

Then he shook his head.

"No. What if he gets angry and cuts off my leg?"

While Kevin was lost in thought, Asher looked at him and asked,

"You’re alone? That’s surprising. I thought you’d be with those two again like last time."

Kevin looked at Asher and replied in a slightly nervous tone,

"No. I’m not joining them. They’re planning to team up against you again."

Asher looked at him with mild surprise.

"Oh? I guess I was wrong about nobles. Some of them can actually think logically instead of blindly acting on their pride."

Kevin remained silent.

After staring at him for a moment, Asher asked,

"Do you want to fight me?"

The moment Kevin heard that, he immediately shook his head and answered in a hoarse voice,

"No. No. I have absolutely no intention of fighting you."

Asher looked at him for another moment before nodding.

"Okay."

Then Asher continued walking toward the center of the forest.

Kevin stayed standing there for a few seconds after Asher left.

Only after Asher’s presence completely disappeared did Kevin let out a sigh of relief.

"I am still alive."

Kevin muttered.

Then he looked in the direction Asher had left and shook his head.

"I seriously don’t understand that guy."
