Marrying a White Snake Wife is Super Cool
Chapter 218 - 134: Su Liyan, You’ve Finally Come
An old Daoist, holding a Banner and a Shaking Bell, ambled over, muttering to himself.
Although the old Daoist’s robes were covered in patches, he seemed to be a tidy person, as his clothes were free of dust.
"Madam, please wait. Would you like me to read the fortune of the child in your womb?" the old Daoist asked, stepping in their way.
Su Liyan and her mother ignored him and kept walking.
"Don’t you want to know if it’s a boy or a girl? Or if it’s human or..." The old Daoist trailed off suggestively.
Su Liyan’s mother didn’t believe in any of it. After all, from her experience, this man was nothing more than a common street swindler!
But upon hearing that, Su Liyan stopped in her tracks. She looked back and asked, "Old Sir, how do you read fortunes?"
In truth, Su Liyan didn’t believe in such street tricks either. Normally, she wouldn’t even bother to acknowledge such a person, let alone give them a second glance.
If it were the homeless squatting by the roadside, Su Liyan would have been happy to give them some money.
As someone who had come from hardship herself, she naturally understood how difficult life was for those who suffered.
To the vagrants on the street, it wouldn’t matter whether they could tell if Su Liyan was human or Half-Human Half-Demon.
Anyone who could give them a little money to solve their immediate hunger was a good person in their eyes.
The old Daoist cleared his throat and said, looking the part, "I only need you to extend your right hand for me to have a look."
"Alright, here, have a look!" Su Liyan replied, cooperating out of curiosity.
"Alas..."
The old Daoist’s sigh made Su Liyan a little nervous.
"Your familial ties are weak, your fate is shrouded in darkness, you are destined for calamity, and you will bring harm to your children..." the old Daoist rattled on, a worried expression on his face.
"Then what should I do?" Su Liyan asked, panicked and at a complete loss.
Su Liyan had fallen right into the old Daoist’s trap, completely ensnared by his words.
Su Liyan’s mother cut in angrily, "Stop spouting nonsense! You’re full of crap! Get out of our way."
"If you do not believe me, Madam, then so be it. But if you wish to learn the truth or seek a way to avert this misfortune, come find me at South Thirty Li Castle, outside Yandu City."
The old Daoist ambled away, saying nothing more.
Su Liyan’s mother pulled Su Liyan away, storming off and muttering indignantly.
"Hmph, some street swindler. How dare he try to fool us? Who does he think we are? Even an ordinary Celestial Master would be like clay in our hands."
Su Liyan, however, remained silent.
Su Liyan had previously thought Lu Yuan wanted a son, so she only dared to eat spicy food in secret.
How to put it... they say pregnancy makes one foolish for three years. Of course, Su Liyan didn’t believe his nonsense.
Still, she couldn’t help but dwell on his words. ’That old Daoist definitely had some skill; I just don’t know what kind of trick he used.’
In the dead of night, Su Liyan tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
Looking at Lu Yuan sleeping soundly beside her, the old Daoist’s absurd words from that day and her own reactions kept replaying in her mind.
’He couldn’t be toying with me just because I’m Half-Demon Half-Human, could he? There’s definitely something strange about this.’
For the next several days, Su Liyan was completely distracted.
Lu Yuan noticed something was off, but whenever he asked, Su Liyan would just say it was nothing, stammering and unable to give a clear explanation.
Finally, Su Liyan couldn’t bear it any longer. She decided to sneak out to South Thirty Li Castle and get to the bottom of things.
One day after lunch, Su Liyan put everyone off with the excuse that she was going back to her room to rest.
After the meal, Lu Yuan went to the factory, hoping to wrap things up there as soon as possible so they could set off for the Imperial Capital.
That’s right, the Imperial Capital!
Su Liyan didn’t tell a soul, not even her own mother. With her baby bump already showing, she slipped out of the house.
Thirty li outside the city was, for Su Liyan, practically just a few steps.
While she couldn’t arrive in the blink of an eye, her natural speed was at least three to four times faster than an ordinary person’s.
However, Su Liyan was pregnant now. She couldn’t overuse her Techniques. Normally, she wouldn’t use them at all, lest it affect her child in any way.
’This is his child, and so precious,’ she thought, ’just as Lu Yuan treasures me.’
Of course, Su Liyan had to treasure her child just as much, afraid it might suffer even the slightest bump while in her womb.
Su Liyan turned from the main road onto a smaller path, heading due south. The trees on either side of the path rustled.
Other than that, there were no other sounds.
After walking for more than an hour, she finally arrived at South Thirty Li Castle.
With a single glance, Su Liyan could see several thatched-roof huts in the distance.
These huts were clearly abandoned and had been for some years.
That was right. There were only these few thatched-roof huts, no Daoist Temple or any other kind of building.
’So how could anyone be living here?’
Su Liyan studied the dilapidated thatched-roof huts before her.
’Something’s definitely wrong. Since I’ve come all this way, I might as well go over and investigate.’
Suddenly, twenty or thirty Xingzi emerged from the surrounding bushes and surrounded her.
Their chattering was grating on her nerves...
"We’ve been waiting for you, Su Liyan. You’ve finally arrived!"
