Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!
Chapter 2387: Tentacle Evolution
These look like ordinary tool nets; they don’t have any spatial defense capabilities. Aside from causing some inconvenience to other players’ movements, they don’t seem to serve much purpose. Seeing his disregard for requests to open the banquet space and now these antics, some players began hurling insults.
The formal dress player ignored them, focusing intently in the space. As he caught sight of the tool fish’s tail, he leapt behind it, grabbed the tail with one hand, and pulled the tool fish out of the space like pulling a carrot!
By this time, the size of the tool fish had shrunk considerably. Even as it was pulled out, it didn’t struggle much and still tried to swim back into space at its own pace, but the next second, it found itself stuck on a net.
Yes, it was one of the nets laid by the formal dress player. The fixed points of those nets were like "Everything Wants to Slice," directly anchored in the air. Originally with only a few fixed points, the rest were movable. However, when the tool fish stuck to it, every intersection of the net became a fixed point, nailing the fish in place like pinning down the space, completely restricting it within the banquet hall!
The nearby players immediately launched successive attacks. At this point, the tentacles that the tool fish kept trying to swallow instead became its protection, wantonly attacking the surrounding players.
As the number of tentacles in the banquet hall increased and occupied more space, even when some players used tools to control or limit a portion of the tentacles, they could not keep up with the ever-increasing number of tentacles spewing from the fish’s mouth. Watching as people around them disappeared one by one, one player spat out a mouthful of blood foam, "That damn thing is disgusting; do tools grow parasites too?"
Whether or not tools grow parasites could be considered later because reinforcements from the Fish Banquet had arrived. Five players appeared in the banquet hall, each enclosed in a glass-like protective barrier. Seemingly experienced, they each held a box and stood directly in front of the fish’s mouth.
"Snap!" A tentacle smashed the carpet and the floor of the banquet hall, quickly reaching for one of them. But surprisingly, before the tentacle could touch the fur of the opponent, it was twisted by a force from the side and suctioned in front of another player. The tip of the tentacle was inserted into the opened box.
It seemed that there was suction in the box. Once the tentacle entered, no matter how it struggled, it couldn’t be withdrawn. Shortly thereafter, more tentacles flew over, but each was sucked in, and within a minute, all the tentacles in the fish’s mouth were elongated and hanging in the boxes.
One player out of the five stepped forward to the trapped tool fish and asked, "Which room’s tool is this?"
He wasn’t asking the formal dress player but the person on the other end of the communications terminal.
A moment later, there was a reply, "Not recorded, this is not a tool from our building, be careful..."
Before the words were finished, the tool fish suddenly expanded rapidly, touching the ceiling of the banquet hall in an instant; then the net stuck to it dropped away. It was expected to violently attack, but unexpectedly, it burst like a bubble and vanished the next moment, leaving only a black meatball behind.
The meatball was the body of those tentacles, pitch-black and covered in tumors, looking at least ten times more repulsive than an octopus. Strangely, it had no eyes, just a head full of undulating tumors, making it unclear if it was dead or alive.
The support players had already collected all its tentacles, vigilant yet unafraid, even if the tool fish had escaped. After all, their goal was to recover it; it was just the sudden change came too quickly. Those tumors squirmed, unexpectedly releasing Time Force!
It was real Time Force!
Tools with time-space effects had special mineral components added during manufacturing, and the naturally formed tools carried even more abundant power. Naturally born tools established their usage patterns at formation, changing rarely and few players dared to dismantle them for study. Thus, whether these tools could be upgraded or how they would upgrade had always been unknowns.
The players dispatched from the Fish Banquet Building had evidently studied the Tentacle Monster’s abilities, knowing its attack concentrated on the tentacle tips, so their first act was to lock down this power. However, they didn’t anticipate it could also release Time Force!
Judging by their expressions, it was obvious that it wasn’t like this before!
"Upgraded!" The group was shocked, barely managing to activate their Defensive Barriers before they were immobilized by the force of Static Time!
Xu Huo was also surprised, for Static Time can’t actually harm players, and some tools specifically for stopping time would easily fail under Space-Time Item interference. Super Evolvers, when using Time Force for effect, often choose faster time force flows; once Time Force is introduced, they themselves won’t be within its range. Hence, even if players are immobilized, to actually kill someone, you must consider whether your tools and attacks will be affected by Time Force. Killing in slow motion is too ridiculous, the best way is to make the opponent die directly under Time Force!
The Fish Banquet Building players, coming to catch a tool with Space Ability, clearly wore similar tools, yet they were immobilized. This indicated that the tentacle tool’s energy post-upgrade could directly cover advanced space-time class props, even unaffected by tools of the same class!
"Don’t move!" Xu Huo warned the two behind him, clutching "Three Seconds of a Lifetime" in his hand.
Fortunately, the coverage of Time Force from the tentacle tool wasn’t extensive, not enough to cover the entire banquet hall. They, and some other players who retreated to the corners, weren’t immobilized, and the Fish Banquet Building players quickly disengaged — their spatial artifacts were effective, just slightly delayed.
"Be careful! Besides Time Capability, it also upgraded with new Space Ability!" The player inspecting closely cautioned his companions while calling for support via the communications terminal.
"Open up the space and let us out!" The surviving players demanded again.
But the folks from Fish Banquet wouldn’t heed them, even calling more people to seal the space off—mainly to prevent the fish from reappearing.
"Recover the prop and you’ll be let out," the formal dress player explained casually.
Neither he nor the five who arrived, or the players yet to come, were weak. Trapped in space, the players had no choice but to endure.
"Such a good tool, going to Fish Banquet for cheap," Xu Huo muttered softly.
"Indeed," Shi Shuai eyed him, "who could have predicted it would upgrade to have Time Ability too, I wonder how it upgraded...?"
