A kind young man came over to help Kitsune with her work. He was called Murasaki Shirou.

"Ah, Shirou. You really didn’t need to." Kitsune said.

"It’s alright, Kane. I can’t let you do all the work yourself."

Kane was Kitsune’s fake name in this human society.

The Fox Yokai couldn’t belp but sigh. She felt pity for the young man. He was bright, smart, and hardworking. In any other kingdoms, he would have become a great court officials for the King.

But in Jado, he could only be a poor carpenter.

Kitsune always thought that human was disgusting and cruel. Shirou changed her mind.

"Why are you wasting your time with me, Shirou? I heard Lady Tachibana is very interested in you."

Shirou sighed. He shook his head. "I don’t like her. She’s very cruel."

Shirou finished cleaning up the shaft for Kitsune. They closed the door to the establishment. Kitsune grabbed her bag and went to the evening market.

Because of her work, she could only shop at night and buy the leftovers from before.

Shirou followed her.

"You really shouldn’t folow me, Shirou. People would say bad things about you." Kitsune said.

"Like what?"

"Like you’re accompanying an ugly girl like me?"

"You’re kind, Kitsune. I see it in your actions. You’ll give food to those that come to your store. Without even asking them for money. I like that."

Kitsune didn’t say anything. She didn’t do it out of the kindness in her heart. She did it so that people like her more and allowed her to integrate into human society.

Her ugly face chased away all the attentions. Her kindness allowed her to build a fake life to hide from the seer looking for her.

Carter saw Kitsune leaving with Shirou. He saw everything through Sonar Echolocation.

In his hand was a card glowing in an orange color. The color of fire and violence.

’You might not like how this story ends, Kitsune.’ Carter thought to himself.

Days went by and the seer never appeared. But Kitsune started to grow more fondly of Shirou.

The man really didn’t want anything more from her. He was just there because he enjoyed her presence.

And slowly, even though Kitsune wanted to deny it, she also enjoyed Shirou and his warm presence.

He was like a sun. Burning brightly and warmly even when the clouds surrounded him.

Shirou also had a hard life. He built many wooden pieces of furniture all days long. One day, Kitsune came over and saw how hard he’s working.

He worked from day to night and didn’t even come by to her store. She stood silently and watched.

The resilience of a mere mortal. And those carved muscles that looked like gods.

Kitsune slapped herself and moved away. Not only he was kind. He also had such a good body that it drew out the lust in her.

She kept it tightly to her chest. Afterall, she was the human-eating Yokai. She was a monster.

A monster couldn’t stay with a human.

Whenever Shirou didn’t work, he would come over. He brought many things, food, tools, even pieces of furniture he made for her.

"Your tables are really old now. I made something new so your customers can sit comfortably."

"Thank you..." Kitsune didn’t have much to say.

For once in her life, she felt what it was like to be cared for and protected.

An angry customer caused trouble in her store once. A kid immediately called Shirou over.

Shirou didn’t know how t fight. But he fought valiantly. He chased the customer away and laughed as if he had won. Although he had two big purple eyes.

Kitsune didn’t know what it was. But she felt pain. When he felt pain, so did she.

She treated his wounds that night and she cried.

"Why are you crying, Kane?"

"Why did you hurt yourself protecting me? I can’t give you anything." Kitsune applied the medicine on his eyes.

Shirou tried to appear strong but the Fox could see his body trembling.

"Because I’m a man, Kane! A man always protect women. That’s what my father taught me!"

"You’re a fool." She said that. But she smiled.

But everything had to come to and end eventually. And Carter had already seen the finale of her story.

That day, Shirou didn’t come over.

He also didn’t come the next day and the day after.

Kitsune asked the neighbor kid from before to go check on him while she worked.

When the kid returned, his expression already told her what had hapoened. She left her store and ran at his house.

"Tofu Lady! What’s wrong?"

Some of the customers shouted. She had gained quite a few returning customers.

Kitsune kicked open the door and went inside Shirou’s house. The place was turned upside down.

The neighbors and Kitsune’s customers followed her.

Someone gasped, "Poor Shirou! It must be because of that Tachibana girl. She never takes rejection well."

Anger burned within Kitsune. She disappeared from her location, causing the neighbors to be in disbelief.

The Fox Yokai rushed to the Tachibana Mansion. They had many fighters there but none could stand in front of a Champion.

She massacred the place and caught Tachibana Kaguya, the culprit of it all.

"Where is Shirou?" Kitsune held the noble girl at the throat and lifted her up.

She was no longer the ugly Tofu lafy. She was the beautiful Yokai, half humanoid and half fox. She had a smooth pale face with a pair of fox ears on top.

"That bastard?" Kaguya giggled darkly. "Why don’t you go to my basement and see for yourself?"

Kitsune broke Kaguya’s neck without hesitation. She rushed to the basement.

The Fox Yokai knelt on the ground. She grabbed her chest tightly. When he’s in pain, she’s in pain.

And he was in enormous pain right now. He was blind. His tongue was cut off. Blood bled from his ears.

Shirou didn’t even know that the ugly Tofu girl had come to rescue him.

"Why?" Kitsune growled.

The white-haired girl stood behind her. "Why what?"

"Why does a kind man have to face such cruelty?" She growled again like a cornered animal.

"Because this world isn’t fair." Carter said.

Kitsune stood up and turned at Carter. She moved in an inhuman speed and grabbed the white-haired girl’s neck. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"You did this, seer?!" Kitsune growled. More animalistic traits appeared on her face.

"You know that I didn’t." Carter said.
