Chapter 61: End of Ranking Battle

For the next hour or so, Quash entered the zone. He was making sure that his attacks were precise and without waste.

The Barbarian wasn’t an idiot either. He also adapted but Quash had seen this miles away and was waiting for the Barbarian to adapt.

Once he adapted, Quash played along for a few moments, making the Barbarian feel like he got it before abruptly changing his approach. Completely throwing the Barbarian off.

Quash was literally moving within 1 meter of the Barbarian but he couldn’t hit Quash.

Quash was somehow avoiding them by doing impossible movements. Those impossible movements were just Quash exploiting his flexibility. His body was more flexible than normal humans’. That is something he got to know when he was training with the gym bros.

He didn’t think much of it at that time but now that small thing became his cheat code. With Attribute Superimposition added in the mix, he could turn at angles so fast that is normally not possible.

By now, Quash had already hit the L1 bone in the lumbar region more than 400 times. And the effects were finally showing. And Quash didn’t think victory was far.

He was sweating and breathing heavily, so he stopped for a moment. The Barbarian looked slightly annoyed when he stopped so far away. He knew what was about to happen. Quash tossed something in his mouth and gulped it down. And his fatigue disappeared the next second. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The Barbarian could do nothing else but watch. This wasn’t the first time. This was the third time Quash had recovered like this. Throughout the hour they fought, the Barbarian had tried everything to take this annoying opponent down since there didn’t seem to be anything interesting going on.

But he dodged every time somehow. Like he knew what was about to happen and retreated to a distance.

And after a while of trying, he just figured that he would wait for the opponent to tire down. But every time he was breathing heavily, he ate something and recovered.

He couldn’t even rage quit because if he did, that would bring shame to his tribe as they don’t give up. They either lose or win. There’s nothing in between.

So the Barbarian was stuck between a rock and a hard place.

He could only try his best to hit the opponent somehow. He was preparing for a big attack but his gut told him he was missing something important but he was too annoyed to care and charged towards Quash while putting in as much Barbaric Aura as he could into his legs to boost his speed.

But oddly enough, he felt like he was moving at a snail’s pace compared to the amount of Aura he was putting in. And before he could understand anything else, he fell and rolled over the ground at high speed. He was so shocked by the sudden turn of events that he lost his grip on his war hammer.

It flew off into the distance. Once he stopped, he sat up. He realised he couldn’t feel his legs at all. Touch, sensation, pain... nothing. Like he didn’t have legs to begin with. His head spun to find the answer. He could channel Aura but he now realised most of them just dispersed because he lost the feel of them.

Confusion filled his brain and he started to hyperventilate.

Quash on the other hand picked up the war hammer that was as tall as him. It was heavy, really heavy but with Aura Enhancing his whole body, he could barely lift it. But it was still difficult. Like he was carrying a bag of 25 kg of rice.

He felt nostalgic for a moment, remembering the days with the gym bros, the time of his struggle before he charged towards the confused Barbarian to finish him off.

Quash arrived near him fast, raised the hammer and slammed it on the Barbarian’s head. The heavy hammer carried the head to the ground and crushed it in between. Blood and brain fragments spluttered before disappearing marking the end of the match and possibly his speed run. If he was right about the time he took to beat the Barbarian.

[Winner! Quash Ogmore!]

And with the announcement, he was pulled out of the arena.

When he arrived in the bleachers, he quickly checked his phone to see the time. The time was

8:35 A.M. which made him sigh in relief. His shoulders loosened involuntarily. He felt a weight come off of his chest which he didn’t know he was carrying. The reason he was relieved was because the Ranking Battle would end within an hour.

At 9 A.M. sharp. Since that was the time the Ranking Battle started 7 days ago. And if someone challenged him now, he could just ignore it. Because the Administrative Formation gives a person a 1-hour time frame to come to the arena and accept the challenge. If they don’t come within that time, their rank will be taken and they will fall one rank below.

And specifically for that, Quash waited. And he challenged right before the Ranking Battle was about to end. Now he could just sit back and relax.

A smile appeared on his face. He looked around him to find everyone who saw his fight looking at him in shock. Because he didn’t just beat an opponent, he had beaten common sense. People know that it is common sense that messing with a Limit Breaker while still being at Class Limit is pure suicide.

The gap in Stats alone is enough to suffocate someone. Let alone defeat them. And despite all the odds, they are seeing a living and breathing example.

Quash on the other hand was gloating in the spotlight. He felt like a celebrity. But it is fine as long as things don’t get annoying. Like right now. His badge was constantly notifying him of the incoming challenges. Although the normal people may have missed it, the analytical minds have seen through what Quash did. But it was still very impressive.

But it was just that, if someone outpaced him in speed, he was cattle for slaughter. And seeing the 20th Rank lay in front of them like free loot, the lower ranks couldn’t contain themselves and challenged Quash.

Knowing he couldn’t refuse. He had to accept because there was still time. Greed and excitement filled their eyes. Wondering who he is going to accept. They eyed each other. But Quash turned to them with a smile, and stuck out his tongue before laughing out loud.

They wondered why before they realised that he still had an hour before he is forced to accept. But the Ranking Battle itself will end in 20 minutes. Making their faces go dark.

"How did I lose when I was stronger than you?"

As Quash was relishing in the ecstatic feeling of trolling the elites, a familiar voice rang out from behind him. The Barbarian had arrived to confront Quash. His face had a difficult expression. Likely unable to accept the loss that way.
