Chapter 1982: The Battle Starts

Hye watched what Moth did, but didn’t follow suit. He didn’t need to waste the big flagships on the shielding task, and instead left them far behind to act as the real killers.

As for infiltrating the enemies, he left this task to his Soulers and Reapers.

The two sides deployed their forces to match their different abilities and resources, while the upper hand looked more favoured to the humans.

Then the enemy came!

The first thing that appeared was a ball of fire. It came from far in the distance, as if some sort of big cannon fired a shot towards the sky.

The ball of fire reached high altitude, then stopped there. It looked like a small star that shone light over a huge area.

Then a second and a third shot appeared. Then lots more came to turn the night into midday.

"They want to fight freely," Moth said from the side, standing on top of the dwarf walls to Hye’s side, "it seems they came quite prepared. Our tech and weapons will face shortcomings in this world. So it’s expected for people living here to have more ways to handle our defences..."

"That doesn’t matter," Hye simply shrugged, looking towards the large ships he deployed, "as long as we hold our ground, nothing can change the outcome of this battle... It’s our victory."

Hye wasn’t speaking out of overconfidence. He already deployed his forces according to a plan in mind. Not only that, he knew nothing would stand a chance against his elite warriors, the Soulers and Reapers.

On top of the nature of his technique, which was already a special thing in the other universe. Which meant it was also quite special here.

Yet Hye was shocked to see the sheer size and number of enemies coming in their direction.

"They even brought the Toranks," Moth was surprised to see lots of giants in the middle of the army coming at them from a distance, "I expected they would leave the Toranks behind to stop any help from our away forces, but not to send them directly at the opening clash."

’It means they want to end this battle fast," Hye shook his head, before turning towards Moth as he added, "I’ll take the lead, you handle the defences here. Make sure not a single enemy sets foot inside."

"Will you take your ships?" Moth was about to ask more when he saw what Hye did, "forget it... These scary ones are more than enough to stop their advance and keep you safe. Still... Don’t rely too much on their former prowess. In this world, we are all weaker than our former powers..."

Moth felt like he was talking to himself as Hye sprinted and gained speed while running as fast as he could. Hye heard the warning, but he didn’t heed it.

Even if he could tell he was a bit weaker than usual, he knew his Soulers and Reapers were different breeds to begin with. Not to mention they already were cultivating, the same as all of his warriors.

Hye wasn’t delusional. He knew his warriors were lacking, considering fighters from the other universe. But considering the ones who came from the same universe as himself, he knew they wouldn’t be far off the reach of his warriors.

Hye moved fast and acted faster. He summoned lots of soulers and reapers, filling the world around him with millions of them. All of a sudden, the vacancy that filled the world around the wing got filled to the brim with his elite warriors. And he never stopped taking them until the two sides clashed.

During the run, the ships hovering over the walls of the wing opened fire. Their shots crossed the distance between the two sides fast and landed at different spots on the upcoming enemies. And yet, lots of flares appeared, looking like special forms of shields that sucked most of the attacks, leaving nothing behind.

Out of tens of thousands of shots, only a couple of hundred exploded. And their explosion wasn’t that fierce like everyone used to. Every shot exploded to cover an area of tens of metres around, killing anyone standing in that spot. But considering these were big cannons that could tear apart the hulls of big ships in space battles, everyone knew these attacks failed miserably.

But to Hye, they worked brilliantly.

Each shot left behind a vacant gap, a space that was emptied of any enemy. On top of that, the lingering fire stopped anyone from trespassing through that spot, halting the enemy advance, even creating some chaos.

And Hye loved such chaos the most.

Fights in the universe were built on using advanced weapons and technology. Yet all the enemies Hye spotted coming at him wielded cold weapons.

Swords, glaives, knives, daggers, and lots more of cold era weapons were the trend in the Outer Battlefield. The moment he drew closer with his warriors, the enemies started to ignite their weapons with different elements.

Fire, lightning, ice, earth, wind, and other elements were used. Hye watched as his enemies were prepared to attack with everything they had. Then his warriors acted.

Previously, his soulers and reapers would flash and move in ethereal form and high speed, passing through the bodies of their enemies, sucking dry their soul force till they would be killed. But now, something new happened, something Hye had never seen before. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

The soulers started to ignite. They didn’t hold any weapons to ignite; their entire bodies were engulfed in black flames that looked quite fierce and deadly.

Then they flashed.

The moment they flashed, they left behind a long trail of black fog. They didn’t turn ethereal; they turned into fog-shaped creatures. They didn’t pass through the bodies of their enemies like usual; they covered and engulfed their enemies in a cloud of fog, ending up stopping and suffocating their enemies until they were dead.

This was a new change in these warriors’ attack nature, something that startled Hye at first. Then he started to wholeheartedly laugh.
