I Only Wanted A Class In The Apocalypse
Chapter 1979: Tapping Into the Spirit Power Realm
Yet from Moth’s warning, these weren’t simple cold era weapons; they were way deadlier than the advanced weapons lots of their forces had.
"I’ll step forward and test those forces first," Hye was itching to know how far of a gap there was between him and those incoming Toranks. Without waiting for Moth to answer, Hye moved fast and headed towards the front. The first thing he noticed was how weird he felt when he tried to run forward, as if his body lost most of its former power.
His speed wasn’t that much lower than his former speed, but he felt like his strength had got way weaker than ever. Hye opened his inventory and took out a sword he once claimed from his many battles, deciding to try the new world’s fighting style and see how it worked.
He simply waved his sword in an attempt to get used to holding it. Yet what happened next was quite bizarre. The air itself vibrated, and it felt like the sword was the spark, and the air around was the fuel. The feeling and the impact were unprecedented for Hye, making him shocked even before the fierce explosion came next.
BOOM!
The sword Hye held ignited and shone brighter before a ball of black fire erupted and engulfed the entire sword. Then, as if a cannon fired, the black ball of fire got propelled and expanded, growing to a scary size before exploding.
The feeling was unbelievable for Hye, but for everyone else it was shocking. Hye didn’t know that he did something unheard of, something that no one expected to happen from someone who had just arrived here.
"You... You..." Seeing everyone pause and stop forced Hye to notice something was wrong. He turned around, looking for someone to explain what went wrong.
"How did you do it?!!!"
Moth was the first to approach Hye; he wasn’t that far away from the human to begin with. Since Hye wanted to fight the Toranks head-on, Moth moved after, alongside his elite guards, aiming to help and support the human.
He would have never expected the human to show something this ground-shaking.
"Did what?" Hye was still oblivious to what he did, "and why did the Toranks retreat?"
The moment he unleashed his attack, killing a few of the Toranks, the rest started to withdraw and retreat. Hye didn’t know what happened, but he could tell how scary his attack was. He mistook their action for strategic reformation, arranging their lines to prepare for another wave of attack.
After all, the Toranks had a colossal number on their side, enough to rival the numbers they brought with them. Seeing them retreat in front of him, in front of a single human, in front of a single enemy, was something that defied logic.
"You... You just tapped into the spirit powers in this world, unleashed an attack that used the darkness element. No one here, no one in the entire Outer Battlefield, has the strength to fight against you head-on."
"You kidding, right?" Hye took what Moth said lightly, "It’s not like no one else cultivated, right?"
"We all do," Moth paused, feeling like Hye didn’t grasp the crux of the shock he brought upon everyone; allies before foes even, "but we never managed to get in real contact with the real power prevailing on the Outer Battlefield. Just now... Your attack... It looked more like an attack from someone from the other universe, someone who was born and trained in the spirit power since their early days..." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Hye didn’t fully grasp what his friend meant, yet he could tell pieces of it. For a reason, his attack just now came much closer to the attacks from the other universe than to the attacks of people coming from his universe.
And that scared everyone and forced them to retreat and abandon the idea of fighting.
Hye could tell this wasn’t thanks to his absolute power, but the immense trauma everyone had at the hands of their enemies from the other universe.
They mistook him for a monster from another universe, a formidable being, an enemy they couldn’t compete against.
"I need to learn more about what this battlefield is like," Hye said to Moth, "I get what spirit power is; you already explained this term to me. But why can’t others tap into it, and I can? And does this make people coming from the other universe stronger than our side?"
Moth didn’t hurriedly answer him. Instead, he moved his eyes around, as if he was worried what the two were going to talk about would be overheard by others.
"Let’s first go towards our base in here, then we’ll continue our talk," Moth started moving forward, showing nothing of the fear he had shown before the Toranks.
The situation got resolved as fast as it escalated. Giving no time for anyone to process what happened, especially to Hye’s side, everyone moved inside the huge space of the Outer Battlefield, while lots of eyes were stealing glances over them, over Hye in particular.
Rumours spread like wildfire about the emergence of someone who could use spirit power freely. At first, no one believed such words and stories until records of that brief clash spread all over the grand area of the Outer Battlefield.
By the time the difference races and supreme powers established in this part of the hectic world, Hye and Moth arrived with everyone else to a grand territory, lined up with towering walls and huge watching and defensive towers. The area looked as if an entire planet was surrounded by these walls; there was no end to where the walls stretched, while tons of buildings appeared inside like a grand, stretched metropolis.
This was the Hescos’ base in the Outer Battlefield. And Moth welcomed Hye and others to the interior of this majestic base.
The first thing Hye and others noticed was the huge number of forces stationed on the walls. It didn’t feel like this was a base constructed inside a safe haven for the Hescos; it felt more like a frontline fortress.
