I Have a Dice Left by a God
Chapter 634 - 226: Li Xin’s Reminder
After parting ways with Qi Badao, it was already late at night. Li Xin went home and fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. Around two in the morning, the dice began to shake.
Under the starry vault, figures appeared one after another on the high-backed chairs. By the time Li Xin arrived, everyone else was already present.
"Good evening, Mr. Gemini." Miss Aries’ pleasant voice rang out.
"Good evening, Miss Aries, good evening, everyone. I’m late." Li Xin had originally intended to keep sleeping, but it felt wrong to skip such a rare Round Table Conference gathering.
"The Star Disc hasn’t summoned us for quite a long time." Cantona said with some emotion. Compared to the deceit and intrigue of his life as an undercover agent, the Round Table Conference was practically his spiritual salvation.
"Perhaps that means everyone’s doing very well." Li Xin said.
Everyone shared a knowing smile; only Christian didn’t. Given his current circumstances, he truly couldn’t smile, so he maintained his pride.
Glancing at the still-empty high-backed chair of Virgo, Estella said, "Well then, gentlemen, let’s begin the sharing segment."
With that said, the Round Table Conference quieted down. Li Xin cleared his throat a few times. "I happen to have a new discovery—something you may already have heard about. It’s regarding the new paths. In the Sixth Epoch, new paths have already emerged, built upon the universal paths. They can encompass four types of paths and draw upon Wish Power."
Everyone was taken aback, yet no one questioned Li Xin.
"Mr. Gemini, are you referring to the Celestial Principle School?" Estella asked.
"The Celestial Principle School is one of them. The Hundred Martial Hall in Lilon is the same." Li Xin nodded.
"If that’s the case, they indeed have an advantage over the previous paths. But for those of us who have already chosen a path, is there any possibility of changing?" Cantona asked a rather key question.
"Impossible. If a path could be easily changed, it would have been changed long ago. This situation is merely a product of the era’s transition; whether it even counts as a path is not certain." Christian said calmly.
Li Xin nodded. "Mr. Cancer makes sense. The new paths are indeed more friendly to practitioners than the universal paths, but they also come with an uncertain future. Whether this road can lead to a Deity is far from certain."
"If, at the end of the new path, there is already a Divine Being, then it’s the disguise of an Old God, with sinister intent. If it is purely new, heh, then it’s even more difficult—Pioneers are often those who are sacrificed." Christian said, cutting straight to the heart.
"That may be so, but judging from the characteristics of these newborn paths, I think they’re worth attempting. Someone has to bring change to this world." Li Xin said.
The others fell somewhat silent. Unexpectedly, Estella did not side with Li Xin this time. "The situation of the Celestial Principle School in Moncalleta isn’t very good at the moment."
Ever since Vladimir sacrificed himself—essentially, the newly born Demigod fell—the Celestial Principle School’s fortune was severed, and their situation took a sharp downturn.
If such words had come from someone else’s mouth, they could be debated. Coming from Miss Aries, however, it meant the Celestial Principle School’s condition was rather dire.
"I remember the new King is also from the Celestial Principle School. With the King’s support, things should be going well, no?" Cantona asked curiously.
"Let me guess. During his student years, this new King was very steady and cooperative, but after ascending the throne, he grew to hate the restraints of the Celestial Principle School—especially all those requirements directed at the King." Christian said.
Estella’s lips moved slightly, but she said nothing. Mr. Cancer had touched a sore spot. She had never expected her big brother to become like this, and so quickly at that. Vladimir’s manifested will appeared less and less, and its responses were growing weaker, while her brother was drawing ever closer to the Earth Mother Goddess Court and the nobles. The Cabinet was constantly arguing, and most of the time now, her brother stood on Duke Tia’s side. Many policies that had once been excellent were facing repeal or becoming mere hollow shells.
For example, the decree that "when a Prince commits a crime, he is punished as any commoner" had already been ordered banned from dissemination by her brother, who considered it heretical speech.
A King is a King, a Prince is a Prince, a commoner is a commoner—how could they be lumped together? Wouldn’t that cause social order to collapse into chaos?
Yet when Estella heard such words from her brother’s mouth, she was truly stunned. Where had the brother gone—the one who had vowed to strengthen the nation and let all of Moncalleta’s subjects live happy lives?
Simmons found it very easy to understand. He was, after all, a member of the nobility, indeed a direct beneficiary. As an old noble house, the George Family had backed the right horse in the new King’s ascension, eliminated their competitors, and obtained the King’s favor. They were rapidly restoring the George Family’s peak influence, with great potential ahead.
The Celestial Principle School restricted not only Royal Authority, but even more so the nobility. While strengthening Royal Authority, the nobles shared in the benefits. The George Family was firmly following the King as well. Simmons might understand what Miss Aries said, but from his position, he could only remain silent.
"Mr. Gemini, is there any way to change this?" Estella asked.
Everyone turned to Li Xin. He had no solution; a Prince and a King were worlds apart. He could only offer comfort. "The King has just ascended the throne; he has many ideas. Perhaps, after some time, he’ll settle down."
"I hope so." Estella said softly.
"I’ve been running all over the sea recently. Right now, everyone in the entire Netherworld Sea is searching for the Wish Book, but supposedly the conditions for its emergence haven’t been met yet." Cantona said.
The Death Church and the Nether God Church were both having him search for the Wish Book. This was already the best possible task for him and far preferable to those assassination assignments.
"Mr. Taurus, I’ll be heading to the Netherworld Sea in the near future. Perhaps we’ll have a chance to cooperate." Simmons said.
"I look forward to meeting Mr. Libra. Also, I’ve made some progress on Mr. Libra’s matter." Cantona said.
Simmons’ heart thudded wildly. He had asked Mr. Taurus to help search for Dragon Mother’s traces—this was wonderful news. "Mr. Taurus, I’ll contact you in private after the sharing session."
Leo Batty shook his head; he had nothing much to share. Recently, many newcomers had arrived at the mining zone because they were going to explore new tunnels. The supervisors were carefully screening these new people, as in the past spies had infiltrated among them.
Everyone looked toward Mr. Cancer. Christian’s expression was utterly calm. "I am, as always, walking the path of cultivation."
The others were a bit disappointed, but this was normal. Mr. Cancer had always been like this. Mainly, they had grown used to freeloading off him.
"If there’s nothing else, let’s end the sharing session here." Christian glanced around the room.
"Oh, wait a moment, Mr. Cancer—I almost forgot. How is that Phil Family matter you asked me to remind you about?" Li Xin suddenly said; he had nearly forgotten about it.
Christian looked at Gemini, his brows drawing together. Ever since he had come to the Round Table Conference, he had felt as if he had forgotten something very important.
"What Phil Family?" Christian said lightly.
"We talked about it last time. The Phil Family is a very old family in Dragon Capital that’s already been wiped out. You asked me to remind you. Do you need me to investigate the cause?" Li Xin also found it odd; Mr. Cancer didn’t seem like someone with such poor memory.
Christian’s body suddenly tightened. "Oh, that matter. Fine, go investigate it. We can talk about it at the next Round Table Conference... If you get any news, you can call me, but I may not have time to respond."
"All right, I’m happy to be of service." Li Xin said with a smile. Even when asking for help, Mr. Cancer was still that proud, but then, he was always the sharp-tongued, soft-hearted Mr. Cancer.
"Farewell, everyone." Christian said, and his figure vanished from the Round Table Conference.
The others were somewhat surprised and nodded one after another. As Christian withdrew from the Round Table Conference, everyone sensed that Mr. Cancer was different from before.
"Has Mr. Cancer run into some problem?" Cantona suddenly said. His years of experience made him clearly feel something off about Cancer.
Now that they had a way to call each other privately, post-meeting private deals weren’t quite so urgent anymore. Of course, given the nature of the Round Table Conference, doing it during the group session was still safer.
"I get the feeling he has, but with Mr. Cancer’s pride, he likely won’t tell us." Simmons said.
"Let’s have faith in Mr. Cancer. With his ability, he’ll definitely be able to resolve it." Li Xin said.
"Then good night, everyone." Estella said.
"Good night, Miss Aries."
Estella, Li Xin, and Batty left the Round Table Conference one after another, leaving the time to Cantona and Simmons.
