I Ascend to the Divine Throne through Arcane Means
Chapter 1617 - 895: Joining the Army and the Demon Tavern
In the [Desolate Flame Capital],
Lis had just entered this city of demons, hadn’t even had a chance to take a good look around, when he heard the demons shouting and clamoring, proclaiming their loyalty to Lord Dominic.
However, to Lis, these Abyss Demons seemed more enthusiastic about warfare, battle, and spoils.
But...
Lis looked at the Balrog Flame Demon recruiting in front of him, and couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow.
If he’s not mistaken, is this a power struggle between Abyss Lords?
In fact, Abyss Lords do not simply occupy one layer of the Abyss Plane; they can completely dominate multiple Abyss Planes.
However, they will only designate one Abyss Plane as their main domain, while other Abyss Planes are managed by subordinates or entrusted to others.
More Abyss Planes do not have much practical significance to the Abyss Lords, yet such battles between Abyss Planes are one way to please the Abyss Will.
The victor of the war will receive Strength and even dominion bestowed by the Abyss Plane.
This is also what Abyss Lords pursue continuously to grow stronger.
Of course, dominion and Divine Position are considerations for stronger Abyss Lords.
For many Abyss Lords of Legendary Rank, maintaining the identity of an Abyss Lord is the most important thing.
Otherwise, it’s very possible even their Legendary Power will be taken away.
Thus, this also results in the battles in the Endless Abyss almost never stopping.
Now, it seems Lis has encountered a similar situation.
Moreover, from what the Balrog Flame Demon envoy said earlier, it seems this plane they are in is being attacked by an Abyss Lord from another plane.
In the Endless Abyss, the initiation of wars often lacks any reason.
This is considered a feature of the Endless Abyss.
After thinking it over, Lis walked toward the direction of the Balrog Flame Demon.
Although he wasn’t too interested in the so-called wars between Abyss Lords, Lis still wanted to join the army being recruited.
In the Abyss Plane where Lis resided, no one possessed more information than the Lord of the plane.
What Lis wished to know could probably be obtained from Lord Dominic.
Moreover, Lis wasn’t in a hurry to leave the current plane to head to his destination.
If it’s only a matter of one or two layers of Abyss Plane, then Lis’s current Golden Rank Strength might suffice.
But in the Endless Abyss, who knows how many layers of the Abyss Plane there are.
The chances are just too small!
If the distance is too far, Lis is still prepared to possess Legendary Rank Strength before heading to his destination.
Becoming a Legend should offer some safety in the Endless Abyss.
And for the Abyss Demons, slaughtering is the quickest way to enhance Strength.
Where else could offer more enemies on the battlefield?
Thus, joining Lord Dominic’s army is a good choice for the current Lis.
Most Abyss Demons are inherently keen on battle and slaughter, especially since Lord Dominic seems truly cornered this time, offering quite good terms.
Therefore, after learning of this, many demons came here, wanting to join the army.
At once, the scene was packed with countless Abyss Demons, causing even several demons to start fighting amongst themselves, further plunging the situation into chaos.
And those Balrog Flame Demons didn’t pay much attention.
Anyway, for them, this time is just to recruit more cannon fodder for the Lord.
Offering many benefits?
Being cannon fodder means surviving to get the benefits from the Lord.
Otherwise, do they really think Dominic is kind-hearted?
The reason why the Balrog Flame Demons are so calm is also because those Abyss Demons dare not cause trouble in front of them, staying at a distance.
A bull-horned demon standing at the front of the line was three meters tall, his naked upper body covered with dark red scales, his muscular arms knotted like steel cables, and two curved black horns jutted from his brow, the tips gleaming with a metallic luster.
At present, he was watching with interest the edge of the square, where two demons were engaged in a heated fight for priority.
The dull sound of a fist hitting a face even drowned out the surrounding jumbled noise.
"Hmph, is that all?"
The bull-horned demon sneered disdainfully, his thick tail sweeping up clouds of dust behind him.
He turned to look in the direction of the Balrog Flame Demon, where a strong smell of sulfur wafted over, causing him to lick his lips.
With only a few people left in front of him, he suddenly felt a cold hand press on his right shoulder.
"Get lost, scum!"
The bull-horned demon yelled angrily without turning his head, reaching back with his right hand.
By his estimation, this grab was enough to gut any demon foolish enough to touch him.
However, the sound of tearing flesh didn’t ensue; that hand clasped his scapula like an iron vise, the fingers even sunk into the gaps between his scales.
Finally realizing something was amiss, the bull-horned demon spun around fiercely, his eyes widened like bells.
Standing before him was a frail-looking young man with black hair, less than half his height, his skin pale, his lips curled in a faint cold smile.
"Vampire?"
The bull-horned demon first froze, then burst out with deafening laughter.
In the Abyss, such beings could only possibly be Vampires.
