Chapter 1069: Chapter 1073: I Was Negligent

"In the forest, I shouldn’t say these things to you." Ye Feng lowered his head.

"You belong to the Young Master, and seeing me trouble him naturally makes you angry." She gave him a comforting smile, "It’s okay, I understand."

Then, without waiting for Ye Feng to speak, she entered the room, closed the door, opened the wardrobe, and took out this year’s most fashionable and popular dress.

After putting it on and looking at herself in the mirror, her gaze dimmed, and a layer of loneliness covered her face. She let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head and sighing lightly.

These noble clothes didn’t match her style at all. All these clothes were bought for her by Beitang Yao; he never asked what size she wore, yet every piece fit perfectly and she could bring out the essence of each garment.

She reached out to touch the reflection of herself in the mirror, a bitter smile full on her lips. For Mr. Xia, she had overnight turned herself into someone else’s plaything, a plaything that couldn’t have her own thoughts.

The heavens hadn’t been too harsh with her. She had finally met someone who could give her warmth, but that person had quietly left her. Now, she was just a walking corpse. She could no longer feel anyone’s sincere affection.

At this moment, a gentle knock sounded on the door, "Miss Xia, the Young Master asked me to come up and see if you’re ready?" It was Maria’s voice.

"Yes, ready." She quickly responded, then blinked a few times, reaching out to pat her small face.

When she came downstairs, Beitang Yao was still engrossed with the tablet. Upon hearing the movement upstairs, he looked up, frowning slightly as he looked at her and said, "Why did it take so long?" Yet his eyes also fell on Xia Qingqian, and a subtle joy was visible in them. Indeed, the clothes he chose looked perfect on her.

"Sorry, I was sluggish." Xia Qingqian hurried over and stood in front of him like a little maid.

Beitang Yao didn’t say anything else, closed the computer, got up from the couch, picked up the car keys from the low table, and as he passed her, he said indifferently, "Let’s go."

Xia Qingqian nodded, carefully following behind him. As she was about to open the rear car door, Beitang Yao stood outside the driver’s seat, looked at her, and said, "Sit in the front."

She frowned a bit and got into the passenger seat.

Before the car started, Beitang Yao glanced at her, "Fasten your seatbelt."

"Huh?" She didn’t react, turning her head to look at him.

Beitang Yao looked at her with a slight annoyance, didn’t repeat his words, and fastened the seatbelt for her himself. He leaned forward, and Xia Qingqian stiffened with fear. Beitang Yao noticed her reaction and inwardly laughed. He wasn’t even doing anything to her; why was she so tense?

"Is fastening a seatbelt worth getting so shaken?" His warm breath brushed across her neck, spilling onto her skin, tempting and tingling.

She swallowed hard, pressed her lips together, looking outside, avoiding eye contact with Beitang Yao.

His slightly heavy body leaning on hers made her breathing pause, yet in her heart surged a feeling she couldn’t quite identify. What was happening to him? Sometimes, his demeanor left her unsure how to react.

"Young Master, do you think I often cause trouble for you?" If so, could he let her go?

"Were you hoping I’d think you’re good?" After fastening the seatbelt, Beitang Yao’s eyes also turned towards her, seeing her turning her face to look out the window. He felt uncomfortable inside and coldly said, "Look at me."
