Chapter 418: Chapter 418: Return to the Space Tower

Li Wei waited on the remains of the stone bridge for the Space Tower’s Teleportation Array to return to normal.

By noon, the sun hung high in the sky.

There were no clouds in sight. The scorching sun beat down on Li Wei, and the air temperature reached forty to fifty degrees Celsius.

If Li Wei had been an ordinary person, he would have already started to dehydrate, and his life would be in danger.

The seawater had completely submerged the sunken island.

Only the lonely remains of the stone bridge jutted out from the flat surface of the sea.

It was the only foothold in the middle of the ocean, the only island.

Li Wei sat on the bridge, looking at the surrounding azure sea, then glanced up at the glaring sun.

He tried once more to teleport back to the Space Tower, but he failed.

’It’s been half a day. Why isn’t it working yet?’

Li Wei felt a little helpless.

’Crap, am I going to get lost in the Endless Sea? This isn’t the West Desert Wastelands. The Endless Sea is much, much larger than the West Desert Wastelands. If I really get lost here, I might never find land again for the rest of my life.’

Li Wei had no desire to drift on the Endless Sea for the rest of his life.

Although, this place was quite suitable for his Cultivation of the Fiery Sun Visualization Method.

Suddenly, a few small black dots appeared on the horizon.

Li Wei rubbed his eyes, quickly stood up, and stared into the distance.

’What is that?’

Ten-odd minutes later, the small black dots grew larger.

He could finally see what they were, and a look of excitement spread across his face.

Li Wei quickly took to the air and flew toward them.

The black dots were people.

They were Mages from the Space Tower and the Elemental Tower.

Due to the effects of the Meteor Fireball Technique, the Space Tower Mages couldn’t teleport directly to the island.

They could only find a way to teleport to a location near the island.

Then, they had to fly the rest of the way.

However, since the island had already disappeared, finding Li Wei on the Endless Sea was rather difficult.

The Mages from the Space Tower and Elemental Tower spent half a day before they finally found Li Wei.

Li Wei quickly flew up into the sky, heading toward the group.

Seeing that Li Wei was still alive, the group breathed a sigh of relief.

In truth, the real purpose of their visit wasn’t to find Li Wei.

After all, in their eyes, the chances of Li Wei surviving were slim.

Their main goal was to investigate what had happened with the Forbidden Curse.

Why did a Forbidden Curse suddenly appear on Twin Peaks Island?

"Elder Harris, it’s so great to see you!"

Li Wei said excitedly.

Harris recognized Li Wei and nodded. "For you to survive the Forbidden Curse’s attack is truly astonishing."

Li Wei quickly explained, "I only survived thanks to someone telling me about a safe location."

The Space Mage beside them, Victor, looked at Li Wei and said, "Why didn’t you return to the Space Tower at the time?"

Hearing his voice, Li Wei remembered that this was the man who had given him the warning.

Li Wei explained, "I tried to go back, but the teleportation failed. I’m not sure why."

Seeing this, Victor didn’t press the matter further.

They would ask for the details once they returned to the Space Tower.

Their main purpose for coming here was to investigate the reason for the Forbidden Curse’s appearance.

Harris glanced at Li Wei and said, "Stick with us for now. We’ll take you back with us later."

Li Wei nodded. "Okay, thank you, Elder."

The group circled the area where the island had sunk.

Some even dove deep into the sea to inspect the shape of the island after it sank.

Victor emerged from the sea, a look of confusion in his eyes.

The thing he was looking for had vanished.

Victor glanced at Li Wei, suspecting that he had taken it.

’That object shouldn’t have been destroyed by the Forbidden Curse. But the matter is too important. I certainly can’t question Li Wei in front of the others right now. I’ll just have to wait until we’re back at the Space Tower.’

After the group had gathered enough information, they left the area of spatial turbulence and teleported back to the Space Tower.

After returning to the Space Tower, Li Wei finally breathed a sigh of relief.

’Finally back. They probably won’t suspect me for the Forbidden Curse incident.’

While the group was investigating the island, they had asked Li Wei a few related questions.

They asked if he had noticed anything unusual before the Forbidden Curse appeared, or if anyone else had been on the island.

Li Wei, of course, denied everything.

He just claimed to know nothing.

No one suspected Li Wei was the one who did it.

Given his level of Power, it was impossible for him to have cast a Forbidden Curse.

Unless he had used a Magic Forbidden Curse Fragment.

Speaking of the Magic Forbidden Curse Fragment, Victor had discovered that the fragment the Space Tower had placed inside the stone bridge was missing.

As the sole survivor, Victor strongly suspected Li Wei had taken it.

Some people also raised the possibility that the Power of the Magic Forbidden Curse Fragment had been accidentally activated.

Which would explain why the Forbidden Curse had appeared without any warning.

The Space Tower, naturally, was unwilling to take responsibility and denied it outright.

They insisted that such a thing was absolutely impossible.

After returning to the Space Tower, Li Wei was not free to go. He was quickly summoned for a more detailed questioning.

It wasn’t until nightfall that Li Wei’s interrogation ended and he was able to leave.

’I wonder if I managed to fool them.’

Li Wei shook his head, feeling that it was a long shot.

However, at least no one suspected him for now, which was a good piece of news.

’If I can just stall for a while longer, I’ll leave the Space Tower and return to the Elemental Tower. What happens after that won’t matter.’

Li Wei recalled the recent questioning, a sliver of doubt in his mind.

When he was alone with Victor, Victor had asked him if he had found anything special on the isolated island.

Victor didn’t mention anything related to the Ancient Disaster Beast Nitro.

But Li Wei immediately thought of the Purple Star Stone Crystal.

Li Wei, of course, said he hadn’t.

Victor didn’t ask any more questions.

Although it was just the two of them, there were other people not far away.

Victor was also unwilling to reveal too much.

Li Wei walked on, lost in thought.

He had a feeling that Victor might come looking for him tonight.

On the way, Li Wei ran into Erica.

Erica greeted Li Wei happily. "Hey, Li Wei! It’s so good to see you’re okay."

"I heard someone was left behind in the Secret Realm, so I was worried something had happened to you."

Li Wei shook his head. "No, it was just a small accident."

"Oh, so what exactly happened in the end? The Elders are being tight-lipped about what happened in the Secret Realm, and the people who came back last said the sun fell from the sky," Erica asked, full of curiosity.

She had been participating in the final battle in the valley when she was accidentally poisoned and teleported out of the Secret Realm.

As a result, she didn’t know what had happened afterward.

Li Wei thought for a moment. ’Since the high-ranking Elders are unwilling to disclose anything, I don’t want to cause trouble for myself.’

Li Wei said, "I’m not too sure. I was unconscious at the time."

Erica sounded a little disappointed. "Oh, so you don’t know either."

A moment later, she stopped dwelling on it.

Erica said, "The exchange competition ended early because of the accident. I wonder if they’ll still give out the rewards?"

Only then did Li Wei remember that the rewards for the exchange competition had yet to be settled.

When he was talking with the Elders today, he seemed to recall them discussing that very matter.

Li Wei, of course, hoped the rewards would be distributed as scheduled.
