Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 398: Void Chain
Li Wei waited calmly on the arena platform.
He gazed around, feeling rather bored.
An hour had passed, yet no one had come to challenge him.
He raised his head and looked up the mountain.
The arenas up on the mountain were bustling with activity. From time to time, he could see explosions from the fighting.
The action never ceased for a moment.
Li Wei saw Eiris using the Frozen Sound Transmission Technique to contact other people.
"What’s the situation now?"
Li Wei asked curiously when he saw Eiris stop what he was doing.
Eiris said, "We’ve occupied five arenas so far. Elfa is leading a team to find new ones."
"According to the competition Rules, you can only unlock an arena’s corresponding competition item after occupying it."
"So, Elfa’s plan is to first figure out exactly what items are available."
Hearing this, Li Wei nodded. "That makes sense. Know your enemy and know yourself, and you will be ever-victorious."
Eiris looked at Li Wei and said, "Elfa just told me he wants you to redeem the Space Spear and give it to him. He’ll be in charge of mobile support."
"What do you think?" Eiris asked for Li Wei’s opinion.
Li Wei smiled. "Of course I don’t have a problem with it. If he’s willing to put in the extra effort, I’m more than happy."
’I can’t be bothered to fight over it, anyway.’
’As long as I guard my own little plot of land, that’s good enough for me.’
Eiris nodded. "Then I’ll reply to Elfa."
He cast the Frozen Sound Transmission Technique to contact Elfa.
A moment later, Eiris looked up at Li Wei. "Elfa says we should leave a marker here, then bring the Space Spear to him."
"In return, he’ll give us an item called the Void Chain as compensation."
Li Wei asked curiously, "Void Chain? What does it do?"
Eiris said, "After it hits a target, it prevents them from using any spatial movement."
Li Wei’s eyes lit up. "A great item!"
"With the Void Chain, dealing with Space Mages will be much easier."
Eiris nodded. "Yes, indeed."
"There’s a type of Magic called Dimension Anchor that has the same effect, but neither of us knows how to use it."
Li Wei said, "Dimension Anchor is a Tier Five Space Magic. Even among the competing Space Mages, very few know it."
The sole purpose of Dimension Anchor is to anchor a region of space, making it impossible to use Space Magic within a certain area.
It’s essentially a Forbidden Magic that specifically targets Space Mages.
Even the caster is unable to use Space Magic while within the range of a Dimension Anchor.
For a Space Mage, it isn’t a necessary Skill to learn.
Using Dimension Anchor is equivalent to cutting off your own arm.
It’s only useful in a few very specific situations.
Therefore, even a Tier Six Space Mage might not learn this Magic.
Before coming to the Space Tower, Li Wei had gained a general understanding of Space Magic.
He knew a thing or two about most of the well-known spells within the Space Magic system.
He continued to wait on the arena platform.
During that time, he occasionally saw people approach, but they only glanced from a distance before turning away.
They seemed to realize he wasn’t someone to be trifled with.
Li Wei waited peacefully until he had accumulated three hundred Points and redeemed the Space Spear.
The Space Spear looked like a banner with a rounded tip at its base, which could be plunged into space itself to leave a marker.
By infusing Mana into the Space Spear, one could activate it and teleport to the marked location.
It could mark a maximum of three locations.
Li Wei looked at Eiris. "You go, or should I?"
Eiris replied, "You go. I’ll guard the platform for a bit. I can at least hold out until you get back, no problem."
Li Wei nodded. "Alright."
Eiris stepped onto the arena platform as Li Wei stepped off.
Eiris became the new master of the platform.
A beam of light shot toward the sky, signifying that the platform’s master had changed.
However, the light was hidden by a Concealing Magic Barrier that Eiris had deployed.
No one outside could see it.
Li Wei infused Mana into the Space Spear, and the banner on it began to glow.
He thrust the Space Spear into the air and felt a slight spatial fluctuation.
His hand felt the sensation of plunging the spear into a viscous liquid.
A moment later, a barely perceptible spatial marker was left behind.
Besides the wielder of the Space Spear, only someone with an extremely strong Space Perception Ability could sense it.
Even Li Wei couldn’t sense the marker left by the Space Spear.
He glanced at Eiris. "I’m leaving now. Be careful."
Eiris nodded. "Right. You be careful, too."
Li Wei put away the Space Spear and hurried in Elfa’s direction.
SKREEE!
A piercing phoenix cry echoed through the sky.
Li Wei looked up to see a Fire Phoenix appear over the mountain peak.
After a single glance, he lowered his head and continued on his way.
SNAP!
Li Wei heard the sound of footsteps nearby.
He stopped abruptly, on high alert, and turned to look.
A figure in white appeared in his line of sight.
Li Wei was slightly taken aback when he saw who it was.
"Erica?"
Erica, clad in white robes, looked up at Li Wei and smiled. "Hey. I didn’t expect to run into you here."
They looked at each other for a moment, but neither seemed to have any intention of fighting.
Li Wei pointed toward the distant mountain peak. "I’m headed there. Our paths are different, so there’s no need to fight."
"I was thinking the same thing," Erica said.
"See you around, then," Li Wei said with a small laugh before continuing on his way.
Erica watched Li Wei go. After glancing in the direction he was headed, she resumed walking toward her own destination.
Li Wei glanced back at Erica.
’She probably isn’t heading for Eiris.’
The direction Erica was heading was different from Eiris’s location.
BOOM!
While on his way, Li Wei came across an arena where an intense battle was raging.
Both combatants were incredibly powerful and evenly matched.
The fight was incredibly fierce.
He gave it a quick glance before turning to leave, not wanting to get any closer.
Besides the two fighting on the platform, there were other people nearby.
There were no Mages from the Elemental Tower over there; approaching rashly could get him surrounded and attacked.
Li Wei was just making a delivery; there was no need to get involved in a messy situation.
When he reached the foot of the mountain, he looked up with a dawning realization.
’Was that Fire Phoenix just now Elfa?’
Li Wei took flight, heading straight for the mountain’s summit.
As he neared the summit, Li Wei felt the air grow scorching hot.
On the arena platform at the summit, Elfa was battling a Space Mage.
A Fire Phoenix hovered above Elfa’s head.
Arena battles were actually disadvantageous for Space Mages.
Space Mages needed a more open battlefield to unleash their full potential.
They excelled at extremely long-range attacks.
The Space Mage was being suppressed by Elfa and looked like he could be defeated at any moment.
Their final contest came down to a battle of attrition, a test of who had more Mana.
Whoever’s Mana ran out first would lose.
Elfa looked relaxed, completely at ease.
In contrast, the Space Mage, who could only passively defend against the Fire Phoenix’s attacks with his Space Shield, was starting to look agitated.
He couldn’t find an opportunity to counterattack.
Li Wei’s arrival made the few people around the platform turn their heads to look.
The Space Mage also glanced over subconsciously.
Elfa’s eyes lit up. "The perfect chance!"
