Inside the Jackal Chief’s hall, a sturdy young man sat on the right side with a cold, unreadable expression.

The Jackal Beastmen Chief sat on his throne of bones, staring intently at the human below him.

"After this, I do not want to see your face before me ever again," the Jackal Chief said in a cold, threatening voice.

A thick, suffocating aura pressed down inside the hall, making the very walls tremble slightly.

Yet the sturdy young man did not have any change in his expression. He raised his head and looked at the Jackal Chief calmly.

"You cannot say that," he shook his head and responded in a flat, even tone. "Although this town belongs to your Jackal Beastmen, without the help of our guild members, we all know what would have happened to your precious little town."

"Do you know how many humans were sacrificed just to keep this town safe from others invading it? Hmm?"

"This is the price our guild paid with blood. So do not tell me that I cannot come and see you again," he retorted in a calm, measured tone.

The Jackal Chief might be a Beastman, but his intelligence was no different from any human.

It might even be higher considering his current level and experience. Thus, he was not swayed by the nonsense the human before him uttered.

"This is my warning to you. And if you think my Jackal Beastmen race can be easily intimidated by you humans, then we are going to find out why the Bleeding Desert chose my race above all others."

The tension inside the room was palpable and could be cut with a knife.

The two stared at each other and saw the firm defiance on each other’s faces.

"Fine," the sturdy human averted his gaze and rested his back on the seat. "But your men must bring the target to me. If you fail, then you can consider our partnership over."

Seeing that the human had taken a step back, the Jackal Chief did not press the matter further.

Even though they were more superior to the humans and had the support of the Bleeding Desert, compared to the overall strength of the human race, he knew his own strength was nothing.

If any higher ranked human came down to his small town, they would slaughter his people as if they were nothing but flies.

Thus, each side needed the other to survive.

More importantly, he needed the humans to shield his people from the greater threats coming from the Bleeding Desert’s inner region.

"As for that, you do not have to worry. No human would dare go against my personal guard," the Jackal Chief said, filled with confidence.

Although the human had brought him his daughter’s precious jade pendant, that did not mean he would not hand him over to his enemies.

He did not concern himself with human politics. As long as something benefited him and his people, he could sacrifice all the humans in the town.

Listening to the Jackal Chief’s confident voice, the sturdy young man shook his head slowly.

"Do not underestimate him. He is not someone that is easy to deal with. I hope your men are strong enough to capture him."

"Do not compare our Jackal Beastmen race with you humans," the Jackal Chief responded with pride. "You might have fancy skills and could make good looking gear. But in the aspect of raw strength, none can compare to us Beastmen."

He was not bragging. This was an absolute truth agreed upon by everyone.

Humans were physically weak from birth. Without the Abyss and mana strengthening their bodies, they would not be able to hold a candle compared to any Beastman.

Nevertheless, with the human system, the gap had been breached and surpassed by many.

Still, Beastmen of the same level as humans were twice as strong. There was no doubt about that.

The young man nodded in agreement with this fact.

’Even if they fail, with my own men, everything should go smoothly,’ he thought to himself.

’After this mission, I must leave this barren outskirts and venture deep into the Bleeding Desert to try to complete my trial,’ he planned.

He knew that as long as he completed this mission, the Guild’s upper echelon would not mind sending him to the inner part of the region.

In the inner part of the Bleeding Desert, there were enough ruins to make someone level up quickly.

Also, there would be many clues to help complete their trials.

Thus, when many grew stronger, they departed from the Scorched Outskirt to the inner region of the Bleeding Desert.

The inner region contained many golden opportunities, but likewise, it held many threats. Every single day, hundreds of humans died there.

He had heard tales of how dangerous the inner region was, and this was why he had stopped at the outer region to build his strength.

And now, he was confident he could survive anything the Bleeding Desert threw at him.

While he was lost in his thoughts, the Jackal Chief was also thinking deeply.

’When they bring that human to me, I must take back that ancient map. I cannot allow it to fall into this bastard’s hands,’ he thought.

’If not because my strength is not enough and that place affects my race, I would not have given it out in the first place.’

’Even with my current strength, I cannot survive there. How can anyone else survive there? Especially a human,’ he scoffed inwardly. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

Each was lost in their own scheming when they heard the wooden door being pushed open.

A Jackal Beastman clads in crude made armor walked inside. His face was filled with both rage and fear.

Before he could even speak, the Jackal Chief was already on his feet and demanded answers.

"What is it? Where is the human?" he barked.

"Chief, the human killed all of our kinsmen and has left the town," the guard reported with a trembling voice.

"And now, everyone in the town is talking about the massacre," he added.

Boom!

A powerful, raging aura erupted from the Jackal Chief, and his eyes turned deep bloody red.

"How dare he?" he shouted, and the air inside the room shook vehemently from his fury.

"Gather all the men immediately. We will hunt him down right now," he commanded.
