Chapter 42: You Are All I Have Left, Eros.

"What happened to you?" Eros muttered as he caught her staggering frame.

Elaine’s reply was a combination of incoherent words. Her frame fell lightly on Eros’ chest as she kept on talking, but Eros couldn’t make out a word she had said.

The alcohol in her breath was thick, but even then it still came as a surprise that someone as powerful as her could get drunk. With how powerful she was, if she didn’t want to be intoxicated then she wouldn’t get intoxicated. That much was certain.

Eros gently guided her to the living room, holding her close. Their bodies pressed against each other and he could feel every part of her, but he didn’t mind that.

What needed to be addressed first was the issue of her being intoxicated.

In the living room, he gently placed her on the long chair and sat next to her.

Elaine’s head bobbed around, before she finally rested it on Eros’ shoulder. With him close by, she felt a sense of comfort and security that she hadn’t even known was possible to feel.

She snuggles closer onto him, wrapping her hands around his chest.

Eros gulped, as this amount of close contact had woken up his little brother, which was going to keep growing bigger if he kept thinking about the soft melons clinging to him.

With even the slightest movements, he could feel her nipples rub against him through the layers of cloth.

He needed to get his mind off that, or else his little brother would continue to grow.

"So, did something happen? Why are you drunk all of a sudden?"

He noticed Elaine bit her lips when she heard his question. It took a while but after some time, she began to talk.

"The commander," she said, her voice muffled by the layers of Eros’ clothes.

"What did he do?"

"They want to punish me because I saved you?"

Eros frowned, he didn’t think this would have anything to do with him, but it somehow did.

"What do you mean by that?"

Elaine then raised her head and looked into Eros’ eyes. "Remember back in the cave, when you passed out?"

Eros nodded, thinking back to that dreadful event.

"Well, when I found you passed out, the mountain was on the verge of caving in. I had to abort my mission to teleport you out."

Eros’ eyes widened as he realised why he was the center of attention here.

"The commander is such a big dummy." She pounded lightly on Eros’ chest. "He said if a single person in my team dies or is incapacitated then I’m not going to be a captain anymore. But he doesn’t know how strong and powerful the others are. Nothing gonna happen to them."

Eros however, noticed the way her pupils contracted at the end of her words. He doubted she really believed what she said.

"Nothing’s gonna happen to them," he whispered into her ear, wrapping his arms around her.

All of a sudden, Elaine felt incredibly warm as she began to melt in his arms, her entire body loosening.

At that same moment, she started sobbing. "I don’t want anything to happen to the others."

Eros tried his best to comfort her until she finally quieted down. All of a sudden, she began laughing. Her laughter grew from a mere chuckle to full-blown laughter.

"What’s so funny?" Eros couldn’t resist asking.

"No, nothing, it’s just that, if the others were still alive, they would probably laugh at me for caring about some captain position."

Eros also smiled when he thought back to their friends back at the Yin and Yang Sect.

"Yeah, Luna would probably be talking about how the holy knights are using mind control to control you. Or some other conspiracy theory," Eros added. They both chuckled.

"Or Shion who’d try to coerce me into stealing alcohol." They both laughed remembering the moments they had shared with the others.

"I wonder where they are," Elaine muttered, her face resting lightly on Eros’ chest. Her fingers ran along his chiseled muscles sending cold shivers down Eros’ brother.

"Romy might be in heaven, maybe even Luna. But there’s no way Shion is getting there."

Elaine chuckled. "I miss them," she whispered silently.

"Me too."

There was a short silence between them before Elaine turned her head to Eros, looking him directly in the eye.

Eros noticed the wetness in her eyes as tears threatened to start falling, but she held them back.

"It’s good that you’re still here," she said, her voice cracking midway. "I would’ve been so lonely."

"I’m here. You don’t have to worry." Eros said in a bid to comfort her.

She pulled her arms from his waist and wrapped them around his neck, bringing her face closer to his. They could both feel their breath on each other’s skin and their lips were mere inches away.

"Promise me that you won’t leave me."

Eros’ voice hooked. "Wha–what do you mean by that?"

"I don’t want you to die. Please, I don’t think I’ll be able to survive if you go. So please, promise me you won’t leave me alone in this world."

Eros nodded his head.

"I promise." There was a sharp glint in his eyes, the people who caused all this were still out there and he would be damned if he let any one of them outlive him.

Ever since he left the Yin and Yang Sect, the goal had always been the same, and seeing Elaine like this just strengthened his resolve.

"I promise," he said again, as if to reassure her.

"Good," she whispered, tightening her grip around Eros’ neck, as if she were afraid he would slip away.

Before Eros could mutter another word. She lunges forward, pressing her lips against his.

Eros’ eyes widened as he felt her soft and slightly cold lips on his. But he wasn’t going to let this opportunity slip.

He wrapped his arms around her waist as they both kept sucking on each other’s lips.
