Fairy Tail: I've Been Guildmaster Starting 100 Years Ago
Chapter 350: FTG - 347: Erzi VS Mira
In Gray’s mind, several images from Erzi’s childhood suddenly surfaced—
Falling off a cliff, but remaining eerily unscathed;
Encountering a massive beast in the wild, only to somehow beat it to death;
Arguing with Brandish once and, in a fit of extreme emotion, knocking her unconscious with a single punch...
At the time, the young Gray simply thought these were accidents, but connecting them now, they faintly revealed something unusual.
"Could it be that what Mira-san said is true?"
"But why can she sense Erzi’s magic power while I can’t?"
Natsu turned to look at Gray: "Could it be because Mira is stronger than you, so she can sense it, but you can’t?"
Gray curled his lip: "Don’t just talk about me; can you sense it?"
Natsu picked his nose: "...Well, no."
"If Mira can perceive it, then people like the guild master, my old man, or Grandpa Makarov definitely could too, yet they’ve never mentioned it."
A green head suddenly popped up from behind: "That’s because the guild master issued a gag order!"
"Brandish?!"
"What’s this ’gag order’ you’re talking about..."
"Wait, so what Mira said is true? And you knew about it too?"
Brandish nodded, her eyelids half-drooped, and said flatly: "I found out when Erzi was four, during that time she beat a two-meter-tall beast to death with her bare hands in the wild."
Gray blinked, then suddenly realized: "You mean that time... but why was I completely in the dark?"
Brandish said as a matter of course: "Because that power was too strong and too unstable. Using it consciously would have caused immense damage to her then-undeveloped body, so the guild master told everyone to keep it a secret afterward."
Gray waved his hands frantically: "No, no, no... what I mean is, why was I excluded from ’everyone’?"
Brandish turned her head, her eyes playful and carrying a hint of mockery: "At that time, weren’t you scared unconscious for a whole day? Of course you didn’t know anything about it..."
Natsu, Gajeel, Cana, Elfman: (¬_¬) stare
Gray: "...⁄(⁄⁄•⁄ω⁄•⁄⁄)⁄"
Hearing the commotion below, Erzi was also stunned.
So I really have a massive, undeveloped magic power inside me?
For real?
How come I don’t feel it at all?
While it’s true I’ve never lacked magic power since I was a kid, to say it’s "massive" seems a bit much, doesn’t it?
Before this, Erzi had always thought her talent was just slightly better than her grandfather’s (the son of Darwin and father of Descartes, who served as a grade dean at Fairy Academy and is now retired—an ordinary Wizard who has never appeared)...
After ten-odd years of being ordinary, to suddenly be told "actually, you’re a genius" would leave anyone dazed.
Erzi was currently in this state of mind.
It was... quite a strange feeling!
Since the first strike didn’t land, Mira had already rushed forward again.
Even though Erzi had a lot of magic power, she didn’t know how to use it. Her combat power wasn’t high, making her easy to deal with. With a simple combination of Speed and Strength at Rank A, victory was within Mira’s grasp.
Seeing Mira’s aggressive approach, Erzi finally snapped back to reality.
Regardless of the magic power in her body, she had to get through the hurdle in front of her first.
"Taurus!!"
"Mooo—"
The Taurus Spirit, Taurus, leapt up holding his giant axe: "For Miss Erzi!!"
The giant axe glinted with cold light as it swung down. Although Mira was in her demon form with enhanced defense, she didn’t dare clash with it directly. She immediately halted her offensive and jumped to the side.
Klang—!!
A deep crack was carved into the ground.
The crack wound like a snake, crawling several meters forward and sending debris flying like meteors along the way. Mira’s heart skipped a beat as she watched.
Such incredible power!
Good thing I didn’t try to face it head-on...
Gray and the others below the arena were also secretly amazed: "The cow-man’s strength seems even greater than before?!"
Brandish produced a cup of milk tea from somewhere and sipped it gently while holding it to her chest: "This shows that Erzi’s magic power has grown stronger again!"
Cana turned to look at her and couldn’t help asking: "I wanted to ask you something—did you really go easy yesterday?"
"Well... you could say I let her off a little bit." Brandish held up her thumb and index finger, making a "tiny" gesture.
Brandish had no interest in titles like "Academy chief" and didn’t like fighting. Her participation in the sports meet was purely for extra credit on her graduation exams. When she happened to run into Erzi and saw how much she wanted to win, she simply went with the flow and conceded.
The battle on the arena continued.
Erzi had already donned the Taurus Star Dress and simultaneously summoned Loke, attacking Mira from both sides.
But Mira was Mira after all. Her combat power wasn’t something Macbeth, Natsu, or Gray could compare to. Even in a two-on-one situation, she responded with ease, never losing her footing.
The more Erzi fought, the more alarmed she became.
"Mira-san really is strong!"
"Not only is she fast, but her strength is also immense!"
If the previously fought Macbeth and Brandish were "gimmick bosses," then the Mira in front of her was undoubtedly a "stat monster."
The magic "Satan Soul" boosted her physical stats to a considerably high level!
It seemed the only way to win this match was...
Erzi suddenly recalled her father Descartes’ evaluation of Mira a while back: "High talent, strong magic, but her overall performance is heavily influenced by her mindset. Furthermore, ’Satan Soul’ consumes a lot of magic power; she can’t fight a war of attrition..."
The only way is a "stalling tactic"!
Thinking this, Erzi decisively pulled out of the melee, creating distance with Loke while switching to the Sagittarius Star Dress.
"Star Shot!!"
With a light shout, Erzi raised her hand, drew her bow, and fired a massive volley of magic arrows at Mira.
Mira’s eyes narrowed. She swept her wings forcefully, fanning out a powerful gust of wind.
The arrow rain was hit by the impact, its numbers instantly slashed by seventy percent, but the remaining arrows continued their offensive unabated.
Seeing this, Mira took to the air, maneuvering and dodging.
But Erzi’s attack continued. She drew her bow again, firing a new wave of arrow rain, relentlessly pursuing Mira’s figure.
With no room to dodge, Mira had no choice but to condense magic to block.
"Darkness Stream!!"
In an instant, a black magic circle appeared before her.
Seven or eight black claws condensed from magic power lunged out from the circle, swiping down the incoming arrow rain before pouncing toward Erzi on the ground.
Loke immediately stepped forward to cover: "Regulus Impact!!"
The field was instantly filled with golden light, and the black claws completely dissipated!
