Chapter 110: Evolution to Peak

I could practically feel the abundance of mana inside the magma. The land on the surface didn’t have this much mana, so even if I wanted to, I couldn’t use it to increase my bloodline purity.

Strangely, magma this thick with mana, had a strange healing property.

The moment my magma Absorption spell was activated the magma was immediately sucked into my body.

[Obsidian Dragon Bloodline: 7%->8%]

With just the first absorption, my bloodline purity jumped exponentially.

[Earth control has reached level 8!]

[Firebolt has reached level 4!]

Slowly I continued to absorb mana from the magma, slowly increasing my bloodline purity.

[Draconic Trait Acquired: Lv. 1 Dragon Force

Function: An invisible force emitted by those of the draconic race or bloodline. The force pushes away any incoming attacks. At this level, attacks are reduced by 5%]

Huh, I gained my first draconic trait. Dragon Force, huh...

It sounded interesting. It was as if I had an invisible forcefield was covering my body, pushing away everything around me. With this, my already absurdly high defense would be higher. Since I would reduce every attack by 5%, before they even get to my exoskeleton.

And since it was percentage-based, it didn’t matter how powerful the attack was; its force would still be reduced by 5% before it even touched me.

[Obsidian Dragon Bloodline Purity: 8.3%->8.5%]

[Earth control has reached level 9!]

[Firebolt has reached level 5!]

[Eruption has reached level 2!]

[Quicksand has reached level 2!]

[Draconic Trait Acquired: Horned Crown]

Description: Prominent horns on the top of the head displaying age and status among other dragons.

Immediately, I felt a majestic regal crown grow on the top of my head. They were bright yellow in color, almost like gold, only more dazzling. It looked more like an ornament than an actual body part, and it didn’t seem to have any actual benefit.

In fact, it may actually be a deterrent if I wanted to be stealthy.

Though it does make me look like a legendary beast the MC usually meets at the end of a game.

The only thing I am missing is an old ancient voice filled with wisdom.

"With great power comes great responsibility."

[Obsidian Dragon Bloodline Purity: 8.5%->9%]

Soon all of the magma was completely absorbed, raising my bloodline purity to 9.5% in the end. I also gained 1 final trait.

[Draconic Trait Acquired: Lv.1 Draconic Life Span

Function: Acquire the long lifespan of a dragon. At this level, the user gains 100 years added to their lifespan.

I gained a higher lifespan? That’s good and all but after a hundred years, what would I be left with?

Amelia would be gone and so would our child. It seems useless unless I could transfer some of these abilities over to her.

Hmm... if I manage to clear the game and gain the title of a god, then it must be possible.

Maybe even the monarch title can grant this effect. With that effect, I could extend the lifespan of my family and give them the power to defend themselves.

Vibrating my wings, I flew through the sky until I arrived at another end of the forest, which was untouched.

I could keep absorbing mana from the soil, but my effort would be best spent figuring out a way to get to the next strata.

I bet the soil there had an even higher quality of mana.

Plus, there was something else I needed to do.

Leveling up my skills is great and all, but it means nothing if I still can’t use mana. After devouring most of the monsters in the Black Sea, including that bad luck shrimp, I now had enough biomass to evolve my brain enough so I could use magic.

I tried many times before I was forced to stop because of the amount of biomass and the sinking feeling I get whenever I try. It felt different from the other evolutions.

-Brain Evolution-

WARNING: This evolution will affect the host’s personality and view on reality. This evolution requires high emotional and mental strength, or it could lead to insanity.

They even made an effort to warn me. This was why I hesitated. I wasn’t sure if I had the mental strength to overcome this, and the risk was a bit too high.

Luckily, though, I had a skill to regulate my emotions.

[Monarch Indifference]

Immediately as the skill was activated, it was as if a dark fog had covered my mind. I no longer felt fear of what would happen when I evolved my brain to peak capacity.

[Quantum Hyper-Mind: A brain capable of advanced cognitive abilities. This brain operates faster than a supercomputer.

Benefits: The user would perfectly remember every sight, smell, conversation, and emotion from their life. Allows instant mastery over every skill, spell, and technique. Users can also create multiple consciousnesses on the spot to help with any task, allowing the user to multitask. Brain also excels at advanced predictions.

Cost: 5000]

The benefits of this evolution were incredible. No wonder it’s so expensive. I currently have a little over 6 thousand biomass left, so purchasing this evolution would drain me dry.

[5000 biomass has been spent on Quantum Hyper-Mind!]

Immediately as the evolution was made, a ravenous explosion of pain ripped through my mind. It felt as if someone had reached into my mind and grabbed something they shouldn’t.

SKREE!

A loud, monstrous sound escaped me as my vision blurred. The pain I felt before when I was being eaten alive by ants was nothing compared to this. It was as if my very being was being picked apart, atom by atom.

Everything suddenly became pixelated as if the world around me wasn’t real. Suddenly, everything around me had meaning. Every tree, every plant, and every particle of dust.

It was as if my mind were constantly breaking everything down, and soon the world itself began to come together. It was no longer pixelated. It was as if someone had turned up the resolution in a game.

It was both beautiful and overwhelming.

I could remember everything. Every second of my life with perfect clarity. I could solve math equations with just a thought and easily predict the movement of things around me based on complex mathematics.

And arguably the most terrifying thing about this is that it felt as if I could keep evolving. There was no end to it. I could continue to break barriers until I reached a level of omniscience.

Still, I knew that the current me can’t handle that much power. I had to continue evolving in other areas.

The first thing I did was deactivate the monarch’s indifferent skill, and immediately a wave of emotions slammed into me. It was as if I were reliving every second of my life over again.

’Dammit, how do I turn this off?’

Taking a deep breath, I tried my best to clear my mind. Thankfully it worked, as I was no longer hyperfocused on everything. No, wait, it was more like I created another consciousness that allowed me to tune out the rest of my brain while still being aware of what they were all doing.

If my brain were a network of computers, with each consciousness being a computer, then this consciousness would be the primary node.

It was all interesting. I could now create consciousness at will without evolving my brain.

I was slowly getting the hang of this change. Now it was time to test how capable it was when performing magic. I mean, this was the whole reason why I went ahead with the evaluation in the first place.

I focused on my core, which had evolved into a primordial monster core. I had no clue what it meant or if it would have any importance in the future.

The mana poured out of my body, and immediately I was surrounded by a crackling energy that looked like a mixture of fire and electricity. My magic was still chaotic, but now it felt as if I could will it to do whatever I pleased.

I tried creating exactly five firebolts, and to my astonishment, a swirling mass of energy appeared in front of me. I remember what it looked like when I accidentally created firebolts that could ricochet off objects and tried to mimic the same property.

When I thought I had it, I fired the spell. My target was a large purple tree on the other end of the forest. My brain automatically calculated the trajectory and angle at which I needed to fire the spell to hit my target.

-[FireBolt!]-

The firebolts exploded forwards, bouncing off the trees, rocks, and the ground itself. They all took different paths, but they all took the same trajectory my brain calculated they would go until they made their mark with pinpoint accuracy.

They all hit the tree at the same time, causing the massive tree to explode into large chunks.

Incredible!

An attack like this would be difficult for an enemy to evade, and even if they somehow did, I could instantly calculate how they would attempt to dodge the attack in an instant and make preparations.

It felt as if I had mastered chaos magic, and my mind was already coming up with ways to use it. It all felt so unreal.
