Days as a Spiritual Mentor in American Comics
Chapter 5836 - 4859: Home Alone (39)
Steve paused for a moment, then asked, "Is there a problem with that? Can’t the two coexist?"
Wanda glanced at Strange, who was sitting quietly reading a book, then said, "No. The Supreme Magician won’t allow any superpower organizations near the school. Previously, the Hellfire Club wanted to build an academy there, and the mages almost beat them to death."
"When did this happen?" Steve asked in confusion, "Why didn’t I know about it?"
Stark was obviously unaware too. So, the two of them looked at Strange together, who responded without lifting his head, "You should stay out of the matters of the Magic realm."
Wanda displayed a "see what I mean" expression. The Supreme Magician is known for such an authoritative demeanor. His words are the iron law of the Magic realm and mystic world, and anyone who dares defy it will face his fists. Even Mephisto might not withstand two punches, let alone the witches.
Steve also found himself in a bit of trouble. His relationship with Strange was never very good, primarily because Strange was too much of a stickler for having things his way. He never backed down in any conflict, insisting that things be done according to his rules, especially when it involved magic. Not a word allowed from anyone else, not even a question.
Even though Strange acknowledged that everyone in The Avengers was his friend, the greatest patience he could muster was teleporting away when they kept asking questions.
Steve was about to speak, but Wanda quickly gave him a look that said "don’t antagonize him," and then added, "Even if they want to move back north now, it’s not the right time. The film is about to start shooting, and all these northern cities are part of it. If there’s any conflict with the witches, it’ll be troublesome."
Wanda gritted her teeth and said, "They’ve lived in the desolate areas of the Colorado Plateau for so long, they simply can’t adapt to the current society of ordinary people. It’s a bit like monkeys just coming down from the trees; we can’t reason with them. We can’t just kill them all, right?"
"What do they want you to do?" Stark asked while flipping his hand, "I mean, they must have asked you for something, right?"
Bringing this up, Wanda even thought about collapsing onto the sofa regardless of her image, but she held back, only expressing in a very hopeless tone, "They want me to take them to Old Salem. As far as I know, that place isn’t far from Iphamoni, accurately speaking, less than five miles."
"Greedy ones came first, right?" Coulson asked. But he wasn’t trying to side with the witches, he said, "If they’ve always lived there, we wouldn’t have a chance to build the magic academy there as well. After all, before Iphamoni started construction, it went through a very thorough investigation, even passing all environmental certifications. That piece of land belongs to the magical school now, and them wanting to return to live there has no legal basis."
"This isn’t important," Wanda shook her head and said, "Before going through inspections from ordinary society, they have to pass the Supreme Magician’s test first. But the Supreme Magician in their minds is The Ancient One."
With that, everyone understood. The Ancient One belonged to the type of Supreme Magician who was tough outwardly but merciful and tolerant inwardly. She was very friendly to ordinary people and wasn’t harsh with her peers in the Magic realm and mystic world either, even sometimes lending a helping hand, enjoying high prestige on Earth. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The witches believed they could move back now, so they asked Wanda for help in moving back. Wanda refused because she knew Strange would never agree. She had no reason or position to persuade Strange to agree, and even less the possibility of fighting him.
And when Wanda conveyed her intentions, the witches were very puzzled. They didn’t understand why the Supreme Magician would disagree. Because in their impression, that Supreme Magician was strong and kind, Earth’s Guardian God, not likely to get angry over such trivial matters.
Even when Wanda mentioned the magical school, they thought it could just be moved further away. If five miles doesn’t work, wouldn’t fifty miles be enough? It’s generally better than the Colorado Plateau.
The issue is, don’t mention fifty miles, the entire state of Massachusetts doesn’t allow any superpower organization bases other than the magical school now.
It’s worth noting that the White Queen started preparing that academy long ago; it’s not something recent. Everything’s already set up, even students recruited, yet Strange’s mere disagreement had it crumbling.
Of course, the Hellfire Club tried to negotiate with him, but the problem is Strange doesn’t accept negotiation. His attitude was if you dare come, he’d show you what he’s made of. The Hellfire Club couldn’t do anything about him either, and in the end, they slunk away somewhere else.
The Hellfire Club naturally also approached the X-Men and the Mutant Brotherhood, hoping they might coordinate or take the lead. But Charles and Erik were too savvy. They understood Strange well, knowing that once Strange displayed his stance, it’s irrevocable and no good in angering him, thus they didn’t agree.
Now Wanda faces the same situation, with the witches wanting to squeeze into Massachusetts too. Strange obviously wouldn’t agree, and there’s nothing she can do to help. But she also can’t explain; she can’t just tell Strange he’s unyielding and difficult face-to-face.
"Do you have a deep connection with the Witch Family?" Natasha asked, and everyone else was also a bit curious. After all, she uses a codename bearing the witch’s name, so she might indeed have some sentimental ties.
