Daoist Competition
Chapter 1280 - 27: Desolate Tomb of the Eastern Border
Lady Lian showed a look of surprise and said, "Weren’t Evil Sect cultivators supposed to have been extinct in the East Victory Continent for a hundred years?"
Several thousand years ago, there were eight sects standing together in the East Victory Continent. Apart from today’s Five Major Sects, the remaining three were Evil Dao sects. However, two of them suffered disarray in Dharma transmission, and later, as each Great cultivator passed away, the sects vanished into smoke and were disbanded, with their Mountain Gates taken over by the Five Major Sects.
The remaining cultivators of the two sects fled in different directions, establishing dozens of small sects in the continent, barely managing to survive.
Fearing their resurgence, under the deliberate suppression of the Five Major Sects, these cultivators were forced to hide in the Barbaric Wilderness, with many venturing to other continents.
More than a hundred years ago, the last great sect of the Evil sect, the Corpse Pride Sect, had its Mountain Gate broken by the combined effort of the Fengxiang Sword Sect and the Zhongtai Sect. Evil Sect cultivators have almost vanished in the East Victory Continent.
Elder You sneered, "There are always some that slip through the net."
He wanted to say more, but just then footsteps were heard approaching, so he stopped speaking.
Deacon Daoist came out from the back hall, carrying a wooden tray in his hands, on which were three Dharma Treasures emanating Spiritual Energy. He naturally placed them on the table in the hall, allowing the two to examine them.
A prohibition personally placed by Zhang Yan was set on each of these three Dharma Treasures. Without some effort, others couldn’t take them away. Even if a Nascent Soul Third Realm Cultivator came personally, forcibly breaking the prohibition and taking them into their possession would not enable them to escape the Great Array of the immortal city outside, so he was very assured.
Upon seeing these three items, the expressions of both Lady Lian and Elder You shifted.
However, they knew the intricacies involved and didn’t reach out to take, instead observing closely from a half-foot distance.
These three treasures had Spirit Light swirling around them, containing a faint presence like a living thing within, due to the emergence of Spiritual Sense, which allows them to echo with the cultivator’s spiritual mechanism. The sensation was unexpectedly strong, clearly indicating these three items were out of the ordinary.
Mystical Artifacts are also divided into high and low grades; ordinary ones are not worth their attention, but these three are all of superior quality, rare treasures. If taken back to offer to the elders in the family for sacrificial refinement, perhaps in a thousand years, they could nurture out a True Artifact.
Deacon Daoist, observing their expressions, saw they were quite tempted, so he picked up a net pouch twisted into a ball, pointed at it, and said, "This Dharma Treasure is called the ’Thousand Spirit Life-taking Star Net,’ refined from the essence silk of a thousand-year-old Demon Spider. Even Divine Weapons and Flying Swords cannot cut through it. If a cultivator gets trapped inside, their Divine Soul is instantly taken, leaving them no different from a walking corpse."
After saying this, he slightly released the prohibition for a moment, during which the two instantly heard the wails of countless wronged souls within, and their heads spun slightly.
Deacon Daoist quickly pressed down the prohibition again, but even so, they still felt the sobbing sounds lingering near their ears, exchanging a look of astonishment with each other in their hearts. This Dharma Treasure had not even been truly activated, yet it was already so formidable. If it were genuinely refined and used, how fierce would it be?
This Dharma Treasure was seized by Zhang Yan from the hands of the Jiuling Sect disciple Yan Huixin, containing dozens of prohibitions inside. To truly refine it for personal use would require at least several years, and even so, he wasn’t sure whether Jiuling Sect had a hidden method of retrieval.
All Demon Sect Dharma Treasures have such a potential hazard, so he never uses them. This time he could use it to exchange for Spirit Grass.
This act isn’t really harmful; with a vast ocean between the two continents, even a Cave Heaven True Master wouldn’t be able to sense it.
Deacon Daoist picked up the second Dharma Treasure, which was a shield-shaped treasure about half a foot in size. On its surface was a closed-eye ghost face, which looked eerie and terrifying. Suddenly, as if sensing someone observing it, it opened its eyes abruptly and grinned at the three in the hall.
That bizarre smile sent a chill through Lady Lian and Elder You.
Deacon Daoist was not surprised, his face calm as he said, "This item is called the ’Smiling Shield,’ a protective treasure, but it is stubborn by nature. One must find a way to tame it to drive it."
Elder You frowned, "This treasure is so unruly, what good is it to me?"
Deacon Daoist smiled and said, "Please listen, honored guest. This Dharma Treasure has a beneficial trait, as its inner Spiritual Sense can absorb nature’s spiritual energy. Even if it takes severe damage in a fight, it can restore itself fully within seven days, without requiring its owner to repair it again, and its protective capabilities remain undiminished."
Lady Lian said in surprise, "Oh? That is indeed rare."
All Dharma Treasures are prone to damage, especially when facing an opponent’s powerful treasures. In the clash, Spirit Light may be worn out, and if the root is carelessly harmed, even if refined back afterward, it is often not as good as before. With this treasure’s capability, such minor flaws could be overlooked.
