Chapter 2080: Twenty Seventh Floor (2)

Shifting his attention away from the twenty seventh floor that on the surface looked like a copy of the outer regions of the Northen Central Region where the Star Shattering Sect was located, Xuan Hao focused on the challenge that had been assigned to him upon stepping foot into the world that was the twenty seventh floor of the tower...

[Current Floor: 27]

[Task: Erase the Heavens Faith Sect]

[Progress: 0/100%]

[Reward: 4.000.000 Ascension Coin, the passage to the twenty-eighth floor reveals itself]

But contrary to his expectations of having to kill a few powerful demon beasts or find some hidden powerful being within the world of the twenty seventh floor of the tower and kill them, the task he received this time around was the complete extermination of a power referred to as the Heavens Faith Sect.

Although he didn’t know much about this sect, he did at least manage to sweep through several smaller branches of this sect earlier.

Problem was, because he had already gone through a few of those branches earlier, he understood just how difficult it was going to be for him to completely erase this Heaven Faith Sect, as the sect wasn’t a traditional sect like the Star Shattering Sect, but more so a religious sect that seemed to exist everywhere within the world of the twenty seventh floor.

In a sense, the branches of the Heavens Faith Sect his divine sense had swept through earlier weren’t a part of the sect itself, but had merely adopted its faith system and thereby adopted the identity of a branch sect loosely connected to the Heavens Faith Sect.

Looking at it in another way, the loosely connected branches were more accurately subordinate forces under the Heavens Faith Sect that helped it run things locally and ensure control of certain resources that would then partly get fed back to the Heavens Faith Sect. Not much different from how the Star Shattering Sect treated the different subordinate forces beneath it. Allowing them to run things on their own following certain laws and rules set down by the sect while benefiting by helping the Star Shattering Sect manage different, less important resources that the sect couldn’t be bothered to manage on its own.

Of course, the major difference here being that the Heavens Faith Sect directly adopted these subordinate forces and granted them the secondary title of branch sect beyond their original sect or clan names.

Normally, this wouldn’t mean much, but... With the objective of the task for the twenty seventh floor of the tower being to erase the Heavens Faith Sect, he would also have to deal with these smaller branches of the Heavens Faith Sect only in name.

Just thinking about how long this was going to take given the fact that the size of this small world constructed by the ascension realm tower undoubtedly surpassed that of the previous twenty sixth floor where space had been severely restricted, caused him to silently curse to himself.

The only positive about the current situation was the fact that he was able to use his Dao of Space without any restrictions, something he had been unable to do back on the twenty sixth floor of the tower where he had ended up taking the opportunity to use his other Daos for once.

Outside of that, there wasn’t anything good about his current situation.

Haaah... I already knew the twenty seventh floor was going to be difficult; I just didn’t imagine the difficulty to come from the uniqueness of the task itself.

Shaking his head as he thought about this while his gaze focused back onto the approaching caravan that had by now managed to make it within a hundred meters of him, he also understood that outside of how difficult it would be for him to erase an entire major power, the main sect of such a major power would undoubtedly be difficult to destroy with his current strength.

After all, he didn’t just have to account for the individual strength of the cultivators belonging to such a massive power but also had to worry about potential guardian formations and killing formations in place around the main sect itself.

If he was unlucky, he might end up facing a formation empowered by several Land Creation Realm cultivators, a formation that might even be capable of reaching the Star Creation Realm in terms of power.

Because of this, before he began recklessly destroying branches of the Heavens Faith Sect throughout the world, he decided to first thoroughly investigate the situation of this massive religious sect before he made his move.

Once he understood the strength of the Heavens Faith Sect and managed to destroy their main sect, it shouldn’t be that difficult for him to destroy their remnants throughout the world and should only really be time consuming.

Who knew, maybe once the main sect fell, the loosely connected branches would break off on their own. Saving him the trouble of having to run all over the world destroying these branches one by one...

"You there, are you heading to-"

Whoosh~!

Ignoring the mortal that had jumped off one of the carriages to meet him upon seeing how there was someone standing in front of the caravan essentially blocking the path forward, Xuan Hao didn’t linger around the spiral staircase connecting back down to the twenty sixth floor of the tower that only he seemed to be capable of interacting with at the current floor and set off the investigate the Heavens Faith Sect that he needed to destroy before he would be able to proceed onwards to the next floor.

"Ah! Ghost!" Causing the man who had jumped down to greet him to recoil in shock as he had seemingly disappeared into thin air in his eyes, while those behind him had similar reactions to the sudden strange situation.

Although cultivation wasn’t exactly a secret, it wasn’t something too well known among mortals like them and only a few of the more senior members of the caravan guessed that the person they had run into might be a cultivator. Taking a good half hour to calm down the most shocked bunch that witnessed the magical disappearance firsthand before using the opportunity to inform these juniors of theirs about cultivators and at the same time also the importance of avoiding any conflict with such figures.

Of course, Xuan Hao himself was unaware of any of this and wouldn’t care about it even if he knew as he was slowly moving deeper into the small world by moving in the direction that the stronger cultivators were gathering towards.

From his original surroundings that seemed to be at the very edge of the small world where the spiritual qi concentration was the worst and mortals were in the majority, it didn’t take long before he reached what could be considered the inner region of the small world where mortals were rare and most people had at least reached the Qi Condensation Realm while a few cultivators at the Celestial Immortal Realm also began emerging.

Even in this place with some decently powerful figures around, the Heavens Faith Sect remained dominant with clear control over most of the powers with Celestial Immortal Realm cultivators inside them under their control and only a rare few escaping the fate of becoming a branch sect.

But... Looking at the state of those few powers that had managed to give birth to someone at the Celestial Immortal Realm without the secondary title of being a branch sect of the Heavens Faith Sect next to their original names, it was clear that they were facing suppression from those who had formally become branch sects of the Heavens Faith Sect. Finding it difficult to develop.

Without the Heavens Faith Sect even stepping in, the different branch sects under them had already made sure that there was almost no place left in the world for those who didn’t follow them. Not exactly something he himself had anything to say about, as it was understandable why a major power would nurture an environment like this within its own territory to ensure no new power suddenly rose in the future to challenge it and take away part of the resources that it had once enjoyed on its own.

The Star Shattering Sect wasn’t like this when it came to managing the different minor powers beneath it, but that mainly had to do with the fact that none of the minor powers beneath the Star Shattering Sect were anywhere close to strong enough to ever pose a threat to it.

Even if there was a chance of a minor power under the sect rising and giving birth to Celestial Immortal Realm or Profound Immortal Realm cultivators of their own, Xuan Hao along with Feng Chen and Elder Song expected the Star Shattering Sect to have grown far beyond its current level when that time came. Strong enough to handle dozens if not hundreds of subordinate powers with Celestial Immortal Realm or Profound Immortal Realm cultivators of their own without having to worry about any kind of instability.
