Chapter 379: Calm... Too Calm!

"Do you think they are going to accept me into their guild?" a man asked his friend.

"Why do you think they are going to accept ’You’ of all people?"

"Why not? I mean, you don’t really find a tier 4 archer in the wild, and from what I can see, there are very few to no archers in their group. If they just give me a chance, I can really prove my worth," the man remarked, showing off his epic bow he had gotten as a reward.

"Of course, it’s difficult to find archers... not everyone is stupid enough to take a Bow and arrow when you have guns and ammo. Just wait until researchers can manufacture magic guns, and then you’d be of no use," his friend scoffed. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

The comparison between archers and shooters was really a topic of debate. Unlike archers, shooters were very powerful in the first and second tiers because of their advanced weapon’s destructive ability.

But as they leveled up, their equipment—devoid of mana engineering—couldn’t keep up with the standard of their stats and skills.

The same couldn’t be said for archers. With each level up, their power could only be said to grow stronger and stronger.

If no revolution in magic engineering happened soon, [Gunmen], [Shooters], [Snipers], and classes like these would cease to exist... just like what had happened in countless other worlds.

"Yeah! Just wait... and you know, that’s the only thing I hate: having to wait. Just where is my goddamn beer?" Unable to wait any longer, the man shouted, drawing attention from the crowd.

[It’s here...]

A voice, which sounded like a mixture of robotics and magic, was heard as the man received his drink.

Picking up the mug, he looked at his friend and asked, "So, Richard... now seriously, do you think they are going to take me in?"

"Oscar... how would I know? For all goddamn sake, I don’t even know if we’re going to survive the next day," Richard frowned, not knowing how to answer the question.

"Well, you’re the smartest person I know... so, if anyone’s got any idea, it should be you." Extending his beer mug, Oscar smiled.

"If you say so... but I don’t think they’re trying to recruit anyone or anything like that," Richard said while pondering something.

’If their purpose isn’t recruitment, then why are they doing this...’ he thought, glancing at the leaderboard.

From the third floor onward, there was nothing but ’Dhruv’ written all over it.

It couldn’t be a coincidence that, despite their numbers being this large, the only one who could find and kill the boss was Dhruv. From all the observations he had made, Richard was sure of two things:

Their purpose wasn’t simply clearing the floor... and second—

Dhruv was their leader.

’Well, guessing the latter wasn’t really a problem and shouldn’t be for most people.’

"You and your thoughts... what are you thinking about so much? I’ve got an idea to get noticed by them," Oscar said, eyeing his empty mug.

"Don’t tell me," Richard shivered, fearing the worst.

Smirking, Oscar replied, "Yes, we’re going to prove our worth right to their face."

Saying this, he grabbed Richard by his collar and moved toward the counter.

"Where is the gate for the latest floor..." Oscar asked.

[There... would you like to know anything else?] the bartender replied.

"No." Without a second thought, Oscar moved and entered the door.

Woooshhh!

"WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS!??"

Without warning, they began freefalling in the void.

"It’s the White Void, if you care to collect information about it," a calm voice reached him.

"Why are you so calm? Do something, or else we’re going to die!"

"Weren’t you so sure about proving your worth? Now show me your strength..." Richard replied calmly.

Gulping his saliva, Oscar asked, "For God’s sake, tell me you’re lying... and you do have a solution."

"Why would I be lying?"

"SO... YOU DON’T HAVE A SOLUTION!??"

"Why should I have the solution?"

"Because you already knew about this place!"

"Yes, I knew about the place, and that’s why I never thought of entering this place until the 20th floor. So, once again, I don’t have a solution."

"RICHARD, FOR GOD’S SAKE..." Controlling his voice, Oscar asked, "This isn’t really the time to show me my mistakes. I know I make a lot of mistakes, but that’s because you’re with m..."

"Yes, yes! I’ve heard it so many times... don’t repeat it again. And yes, I don’t have a solution, but don’t worry—we aren’t going to die." Smiling, Richard muttered.

"I knew there was no way you were going to let us die like this. We won’t die, but you don’t have a solution? What’s that supposed to mean?"

"As you can see, this is the Void... and it’s not the fall that kills you; it’s the sudden stop that ends it all. So if there is nothing to fall on there is nothing that breaks our momentum. Rest... even if you can figure it out." Richard smiled eying his friend.

’For fuck’s sake...’

"So, what do we do now?" Oscar asked, looking around.

"Nothing... after reaching our terminal velocity, we should stop accelerating... We can figure out the rest after that..."

"You really are something else... huh!" Finding a way out, Oscar summoned his bow and began thinking of something.

There was nothing he could do here, and Richard, being a support class, couldn’t do anything either to help the situation.

’Although if he uses an item, we can get out... but let’s keep that for the worst-case scenario.’ Thinking this, Oscar glanced at Richard, who was once again in his deep-thinking state.

’Just what does he think so much about with this brain of his...’ Trusting Richard’s luck, Oscar tried to keep himself calm, which was easier said than done.

Completing his talk with the others, Dhruv began moving away from the group when he noticed something strange.

Two men, embraced in each other’s arms, were falling in the void.

This wasn’t the strange part, as he knew there would be a few stupid enough to challenge this floor even after his warning.

What was strange was that they were calm.

Too calm for the situation they were in.

’Huh! What are they doing...’ Curiosity got the better of him as he began moving toward them.
