Chapter 265: Ch 265: Someone is at fault

’I need to move. I need to tell that esper that he cannot take a person from our guild like this. I-’

"Secretary Ann, stop. I know what you are thinking about, but you should not go after Shuu and that esper right now. I have a feeling we will trigger his esper instincts over Shuu if we do that."

Secretary Ann bit his lips, and with an unhappy expression on his face, he straightened his back.

He felt disappointed with the outcome and a little sorry as well toward Shuu. After all, he was sure that this situation was his fault.

Shuu was not an esper, so the only way that esper had gone into a protective mode was because he sensed Secretary Ann’s powers and mistook them for Shuu’s. If Secretary Ann was not there, then Shuu wouldn’t be in trouble right now...

"This is not right. I know that the best thing to do at the moment is to let Shuu go, but it is not that easy. I..."

"For now, we should head back and report to Boss Yuri about what happened. He will be able to talk to that other esper and find a way for Shuu to be brought back."

There were unspoken rules between espers, and one of them was to respect the other and not openly kidnap other guild members. The new esper did not seem to know all the rules yet.

Secretary Ann’s expression lightened at these words, and he nodded.

"You are right. Boss Yuri can take care of the situation..."

But a small part of Secretary Ann was still worried about what would happen in the future. And it was a worry that kept on increasing each minute.

"Caelis, you can show Rin to your room for now. We will get him settled once we have enough time on our hands. For now, I will check on Shuu to make sure he’s fine."

Kaiden did not even look at his son as he gave this order.

Caelis was already ready, and he grabbed Rin’s hand to pull him behind him to his room. Kaiden watched them go for a minute before he turned his attention back to Shuu. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

He could feel Shuu’s body temperature and even his presence. But Shuu was still not waking up.

"Let me see... hmm, so someone is trying to interfere with Shuu’s consciousness. I should give Shuu some time to figure it out before I help him."

Kaiden felt impatient, but he still decided to give Shuu time to figure things out. In the meantime, he had some information to gather.

Shuu was not alone in this world. At least, not fully.

Since this world did not have prejudice against Shuu, it was easier for people to acknowledge his talent. It irked Kaiden, but he was happy for Shuu at the same time.

His partner deserved to have all the happiness in the world.

Kaiden closed the door to Shuu’s room behind him and even locked it to make sure Shuu wouldn’t be able to escape once he woke up. But his heart still did not feel better and wanted Kaiden to do more.

He ignored this and went to check up on Caelis and Rin. They had both settled down inside Caelis’s room, and Rin was currently sitting on the bed with a blank look on his face.

"-you can tell me. I promise I will explain to father and I-"

The sound of the door opening made Rin and Caelis look at Kaiden. He walked toward them and sat down in front of them.

Rin looked a little bit uncomfortable seeing him, and he quickly looked down. The gentle waves of power that radiated off Caelis were a little familiar and did not bother Kaiden.

"I... I tried to protect Shuu, but he..."

Rin started, only to trail off, not knowing what he should say next. There were a lot of words stuck in his throat, and he felt sorry for the things he had not done for Shuu when he had the power and a chance to do so.

Caelis immediately put a hand on Rin’s shoulder to reassure him that it was fine.

"It’s not your fault. He has always been unpredictable, and I doubt he would have listened to you even if you told him what you wanted from him. It is not your fault."

Caelis reassured, but Rin did not look that sure.

Kaiden interfered before things could get worse.

"Shuu has always been reckless. But right now, the reason he is unconscious is because of an external interference. I can feel someone dragging his consciousness somewhere it is not supposed to be. But don’t worry. It is something I can take care of."

Kaiden reassured, and Rin looked much better within seconds. He looked up with wide eyes, and the innocent expression on his face told Kaiden that he was feeling better now.

"S-Shuu will be fine? Will he truly be fine?"

Kaiden nodded at Rin’s words, and all the worry melted off Rin’s frame. His body sagged against Caelis, and Caelis clutched Rin’s arms tightly to keep him steady.

"You don’t have to worry about Shuu anymore. Both of you can go to sleep now. I will spend a little more time by Shuu’s side and wait until he wakes up. Caelis, can you make sure no one disturbs us?"

Kaiden did not want to worry Rin, so he asked Caelis to make sure no one would come near Shuu’s and his room. He would need time and patience to bring Shuu back.

His son nodded, understanding what Kaiden was saying.

"I will do that. Take care of Shuu and be careful out there. We have no idea what we are dealing with here."

Caelis reminded Kaiden, and he nodded before he walked to his room. It was finally time to bring Shuu back and put an end to this mess.

Shuu looked so innocent as he slept on the bed, and Kaiden reached for his hand to grab it and squeeze it.
