Chapter 284: Strange

And Qin An’s premonition didn’t disappoint because just from the moment they entered the surface of the planet, they were instantly welcomed by the sharp and dangerous tremendous amount of resentment. The planet seems to be engulfed wholly by this dark energy of resentment and it totally screams more than danger.

Su Jinxi and Shen Zhen held a sharp intake of breath, their eyes revealing horror and fear. They can not only see the high-level zergs lurking around everywhere but this darkness seems to be one they have to guard about. In addition, the zergs around them don’t seem to have an intention to attack. They acted as if they couldn’t see them and were just flying around aimlessly.

But this only made their guard high. The atmosphere is so eerie and just too silent suddenly, as if the fight they did earlier was just a dream.

Even others who could not see the real situation directly felt a chill go down their spine. It’s like an instinctive reaction no matter how many battles they faced in the past, what’s in front of them was far from those.

"I suggest you come back here." Qin An’s voice snapped them back to their senses. "Dark energy is much stronger than we thought. It’ll be a problem for you to confront this directly for now."

"Okay. Go back." He Li agrees to his suggestion and the team quickly moves, yet just as they headed towards the spaceship, this act was like a switch that put on the monsters around them. All of the zergs just abruptly turned their heads and their eyes stared directly at them.

"!!!!"

Everyone subconsciously halt their movements, their eyes widening in terror at the sight of them.

Zhi Anming, who was inside the spaceship, turned pale and his knees wobbled, making him fall down on his butt. His face was devoid of any color as he could still feel the strange coercion from those monsters surrounding them.

F-Fuck! He cursed repeatedly inside his mind.

As everyone held their breath again and never dared to make any movement, the atmosphere froze even more.

"M-Marshal," Xu De’s cautious voice brought them back. "W-What do we need to do now?" His voice was small but everyone could totally sense the fear in his voice. Everyone waited in silence for the answer, never daring to act any possible movement that could trigger these zergs around them. They could still feel those countless pairs of eyes surrounding them from every angle, even breathing slightly was hard to do at this moment.

He Li gripped the armour tightly and observed every zerg for possible signs. They still don’t seem to have any signs of attacking them and were just merely looking at them. And this was the moment when they decided to go back to the spaceship.

It was as if they were stopping them from that action. But stopping them? They don’t want them to leave? For what reason? And most importantly, since when did zergs have this high level of consciousness to express something this directly?

Is the Federation had been blind recently and they neglected this crucial evolution?

His expression turned colder even more.

After another moment of silence, he finally spoke. "Turn back."

"!!!" This decision surprised them again. Turn back? Turn back where?

But He Li didn’t say anything further and instead maneuvered his mecha towards the planet, going back to where they were supposed to do.

Everyone was shocked again at his choice but they also quickly followed him. To their surprise, the zergs that were staring at them moved their eyes away and acted again as if nothing happened earlier. They went back to their aimless wander like everything was just an illusion.

However this only made them feel chilled. This action clearly tells them that they have no way out and could only continue entering the planet.

The next movement was filled with caution and silence. They don’t dare to bump or even get closer to any zergs in fear of triggering chaos again.

"Senior, this is not good. These dark energy surrounds the planet. If we go further, we will be directly exposed to these mental pollution." Zhi Anming’s words filled with worry echoes the silence.

Qin An’s eyes narrowed. "But we have no choice for now."

He paused. "Marshal, I want to go out." Only he can protect them from resentments.

"... Okay." He Li’s answer came after a second. "Move faster and find a place to land."

"Copy, Marshal!"

Their actions became swift and fast to enter the planet. Fortunately things went out well and they successfully found an open ground to land.

"Check out the surroundings and come back here immediately." He Li orders the team. This planet really tightens their security and the team actually expected things won’t go well and they’ll go with an endless fight quickly yet to their surprise, the zergs around them seem to disappear all of the sudden.

What surrounded them were just large old trees, no leaves and the branches looked so dry that they turned black and wilted. There was no green or any color other than that and the dried blood stains everywhere.

What the planet welcomes them is like a world without any living, only death remains.

After inspecting again and again, they could really confirm that there’s no one else in this place aside from them.

They told everyone about their conclusion and they once again fell into silence.

"Okay. Stop worrying about this first and find a place to rest." He Li dismissed them. They went out from their mechas but readying them on the side in case of emergencies before gathering those wilted branches to fire a light.

They also set up a tent and after everything got ready, they sat in a circle of the bonfire they made. The light from the fire in front of them was like the only source of something alive in this place.

Seeing their exhaustion, Qin An silently went up and began using his spiritual energy to ease their mental power from the fight earlier one by one. Feeling the soothing caress and relief from the aches, they sighed feeling refreshed all of the sudden.

"Thank you, Qin An." Cheng Yu was delighted. This is the first time they directly feel the gentle energy penetrating inside their head. They could feel the constant stabbing lessen, like the rock that has been pressing on their shoulders was lifted up.

"Save more for the Marshal." Ji Wen mutters softly to Qin An.

"Don’t worry." The young man nodded. He put the same exertion of energy to everyone until only He Li himself remains.

"Marshal, let me." Qin An asked for permission first. He Li wanted to subconsciously refuse and tell them that it’s better to conserve energy but seeing everyone looking at him with worry, he had no choice but to nod at Qin An.

Qin An raised his hand and put his palm on He Li’s temple. His action was very natural and even He Li unknowingly bent his head a bit to accommodate him was smooth making Ji Wen who was about to raise the worry that Qin An’s arm might numb silent. His words didn’t come out successfully and just looked away.

He didn’t even bother catching the subtle signals that his team gave him and just lowered his head and pretended to stare at the ground as if something would pop up.

Cheng Yu and others were speechless but also moved away subtly at the two. Even if they didn’t know anything, they had long noticed about He Li’s strange behavior to Qin An. The young man is surely an important person for the federation and as the Marshal, it’s normal for him to have attention towards him. Even so, the interest in Qin An is way deeper from their understanding.

From the initial ’business’ to something personal. Although they don’t know how deep it is, it’s enough for them to catch something.

Their Marshal He Li feels something towards Qin An.
